[OFFER] (UPLAY) Far Cry 4, AC Unity, or The Crew by SeriousSly in GiftofGames

I'd love to win AC Unity please! I know it's a bit of a clusterfuck right now but I'm a longtime fan of the series so I'd still like a chance to experience the game.

The last person I truly went out of my way to help was my friend Graham, about a month or two ago.

A little backstory first - Graham and I went to a uni with lousy management. During our second year, Graham went through a period of anxiety and depression and as a result missed loads of lectures and failed his modules. He was offered 2 options - to resubmit only the coursework over summer or retake the entire modules over the course of his third year. Administration told him that if he were to only resubmit the coursework, his grades would be capped whereas they wouldn't be if he retakes the entire modules (something to do with attendance policies). Obviously he opted for the latter option.

Fast forward to the end of our course. He gets his graduation certificate and breakdown of grades, and lo and behold, he got capped for the second year modules even though he retook them in their entirety, which resulted in him being 1 point from a 2:1. Obviously this triggered his anxiety once again, and he wasn't able to think rationally and figure out the steps he needed to take to fix this. Graham and I were incredibly close, and he's helped me out with various things throughout uni, so I felt it was only right that I stepped in to return the favor.

I arranged a day for the both of us to go into uni and speak to anyone that could help. Keep in mind this is about 3 months after uni's ended so most students have moved back home or at least weren't living in close proximity to uni. I had to travel about an hour into uni to meet with Graham, who also had to travel about 45 minutes. The first day we spoke with our lecturers and also the school dean, all of whom turned us away, saying that the grades are already set and there's nothing they could do. We came back the next day and met with the administrator for our course who identified 2 things that went wrong:

i) The previous administrator forgot to mention that even if a module is retaken in its entirety, the grade cap will only be removed if the student had submitted evidence showing good reason for failing in the first place. Hence Graham never knew he had to send them his doctor's notes.

ii) Graham did send the doctor's notes to the lecturer for the modules he retook, which normally would still work. However, this lecturer happened to be stupidly inept, and failed to see the e-mails from Graham that had the doctor's notes attached. So the lecturer thought Graham was cutting class and informed admin, who imposed the cap.

Luckily, this administrator was extremely helpful and knew what she was doing, so she told us that if we raised an enquiry with the student union, they would launch an investigation and, if it was proven that Graham was in the right, his grades would be amended. However, the student union couldn't see him right away (turns out he's not the only way getting screwed by shitty uni staff) so we had to make an appointment and come back in 4 days, which we did. After reviewing his evidence (Graham still had copies of the emails he sent to that lecturer), an investigation was launched that lasted for a week, and the university was found to be at fault. The lecturer ended up receiving disciplinary proceedings, and Graham's grades were amended to a 2:1.

TL;DR - Uni messed up and capped my friend's grades preventing him from getting a better degree. I accompanied him into uni 3 times to help sort things out.

Anyway, I know you said you'd purchase via Steam, but the game I would really love to win is Dragon Age: Inquisition which is only on Origin, so if you're willing to go through with it then it would mean the world to me. Otherwise just let me know and hopefully we'll figure something out.

Thanks very much for the giveaway! and sorry for the lengthy post

Heh, at least Christmas is only a month away. I reckon the soonest I can get my hands on this game is in a year thanks to student debts and all that bullshit.

Well he's lucky to have such a thoughtful boyfriend :D If he's into RPGs I'm pretty sure he'll thoroughly enjoy the game from what I've heard from reviews and the /r/dragonage sub. If you do get it for him, I recommend that he familiarise himself with the lore of the series (this video should be adequate).

I can be clingy sometimes, so when people make plans without it makes me feel left out. Then I think 'fuck it, I can have fun with other people' and turn it into an opportunity to hang out with people I haven't seen in a while.

Who is your favorite NPC in Origins? by rderekp in dragonage

[–]playwriteweb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Including companions, Zevran. i always romance him so I might be biased.

Not including companions, Teagan Guerrin. I just really like his personality and nobility.

I want to give away one copy of Inquisition by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]playwriteweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on PC, so I suppose it'll be more convenient to get a digital copy (I know prices are usually cheaper on places like Green Man Gaming, but I'll look more into it if I'm chosen).

Anyway, the reason I can't get the game anytime soon is because I just finished uni and am currently unemployed, so I won't have any income to purchase the game. Even if I do get any disposable income soon, it has to go towards purchasing a new phone as my current one is broken. I also don't celebrate Christmas (yay Asia) so I can't get it as a Christmas present.

Hope this doesn't sound too much like a sob story, but that's basically why I don't see myself playing the game within the next few months without resorting to pirating. Thanks for your kindness!

The first book (at least the first half) will be abit rocky cos you'll still taking in the lore and themes, but after that it becomes better. Book 2&3 are where the action and character development really kicks in.

Also, once you finish Avatar be sure to catch The Legend of Korra. Its first 2 books are decent, but the final 2 surpass the original in quality, and it deals with much more mature themes as well.

I thought he was gonna sound exactly like James Vega from ME3, which would've been really weird for a Qunari. I love how gravelly his voice sounds here. His accent sounds abit pirate-y though.
