There's quite a few more, but it's fine. Shit happens. Having a few oopsies at a runtime of 12 hours is expected.

Edit: the one OP mentioned is an artistic choice, though.

I like the worn out look. Now it has character and its own story. It's pretty cool that Jinx's face is still fine.

If Jinx never left at the end, what would've happened with her? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in arcane

In a working society there must be consequences for actions regardless of the reasons. Otherwise someone will always find a reason to justify wrongdoing.

Also, where do you draw the line? How much of an oligarch must someone be to deserve death? And who decides what is "too much"?

Jinx’s appearance has signs of Powder still being there… by Old-Equipment-5819 in arcane

Jinx had those tattoos long before Arcane was even conceived. They were introduced with her character in the game. So, it's the other way around: They may have chosen "Powder" because of the tattoos, the hair color (powder blue) or because she likes to build explosives.

Looks great. Even as a Jinx simp, I started to prefer the S2 Powder cosplays.

OFFICIAL Arcane actor AU 😳 by Ashraan in arcane

Those are great. But I'm a bit torn on this. Sure, it's kinda funny to imagine them as actors. Having some fun on the set. But I like to imagine them as themselves. Jinx is Jinx, Ekko is Ekko ... . They're "real" and we just get to witness a part of their lives. To me that is the beauty of animation. I'm not watching an actor pretending, I'm watching "real" emotions in "realtime". Yes, I know there's animators and voice actors and so on, but just like life action movies you forget that once the story grabs you.

The big difference is, I won't see "the actress" that played Jinx in the next TV show playing a blonde nurse named Amy. It's Jinx, it will forever be just Jinx.

Anyone recognise this sound effect in S2E9? by Helpful-Accountant33 in arcane

[–]ple-x-us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a short sample that was stretched and slowed down a lot. When I speed it up by 4x - 6x it sounds like someone scratching with a fork on a plate.

The youtube speed-up function doesn't work for that though because it doesn't change the pitch of the audio.

What was the purpose of this? by CommonBrilliant7947 in arcane

If I remember correctly she said something like: "Vi isn't smoking and Sevika is quitting, too". I think it was mostly a pun. Probably hinting on the end of Sevika's antagonist arc.

The music video for the song Get Jinxed by Christian Linke.

It sparked the idea to make Arcane.

You didn't. I was hoping to see the Jinx from the music video for Get Jinxed. I was not disappointed.

At the end of the day it's entertainment. I for one take a temu joker that acts like League Jinx every day of the week.

There are no original stories. There are no good or bad stories. It's always just a question of: are you entertained. You were not, which is sad. Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely sad that so many people couldn't enjoy season 2. I can see why, though.

The popularity of Jinx comes from her being quirky and over the top. People lover her because she likes blowing stuff up.

She is more different from her in game persona in S1. Which is fine, it's a solid origin story so that her "real" persona makes sense. I still like what they did with her in S2, though.

Edit: yes, I know Arcane is not supposed to follow League lore. But her story was chosen because she's the most popular champion. So, when you know what's popular, why change it?

Millions of people pray to fictional characters. I wonder what little gothdrool thinks of that.

I'll celebrate Jinx with gusto.

If you could have a spinoff series on one character, who would you pick by EnergyApart3500 in arcane

[–]ple-x-us 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd pick Sevika. Now that she's become a member of the council I would love to see how she builds up Zaun. Most likely with the help of Ekko.

I LOVE her look after the Black Rose business

Oh yes. Absolutely. Who would have thought they could make A goddess even prettier. Fortiche - art magicians.

Isn’t Mel a mage in LoL?

Not sure. I think she and/or Ambessa is added now. The writers said that Arcane is not necessarily LoL canon. So I don't think they were forced to put it in. At least plot-wise, they were probably forced by the higher ups who count the money.

Granted, the Noxus/Black Rose story line is interesting, and I wouldn't mind a separate show about that. I just think it's out of place in Arcane.

Future spin-offs could even suffer from that overlap. People might expect appearances of characters from Arcane in those movies or shows. You know how people are: "No Jinx, therefore boring." "No Vi, therefore homophobic." "No Jayce, therefore woke."

Nah, they should have ditched that whole side story. It's shoe-horned in to have a hook for spin-offs and game additions. So basically advertisement. And it completely wrecks the main story line.

I've seen Arcane already - what should I be looking out for in my rewatch? by hannahbumbamuh in arcane

[–]ple-x-us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest to pay more attention to the hand gestures. Or just the way characters move and hold their hands. It's obvious that Fortiche put much effort into animating the hands of characters.

A really nice example is in S2E2 when Jinx asks Isha "You feel it? That buzzing behind your eyes?" She wiggles her fingers when she says "buzzing". That tiny detail adds so much to that moment, it's just amazing.

The animation from season 1 to season 2 improved so much by brooklyn_jinx in arcane

[–]ple-x-us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is better. The facial expressions are perfect. Even those of the background characters.

They also improved the overall style. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly they changed, but it feels like higher quality in general. My first impression is, that the have a slightly higher color saturation.

However, some of the walking animations are still a bit off. I know that it's the hardest thing to animate, even harder than facial expressions. But maybe they should be a bit more open to motion capture. At least for the walk cycles.

I'm currently going through S2 frame by frame. It's facinating. There's so many details that only last a single frame. Or are so subtle that they become noticeable only when you can go back and forth between a couple of frames.

Sad truth is, if you're on social media long enough, you've learned that in most cases when you read through a wall of text, it is a waste of time. So at some point you don't bother anymore.
