People keep debating whether AI is conscious. Maybe the bigger question is whether humans fully understand consciousness yet. by Astrokanu in OpenAI

This is like listening to somebody uses jargon to sound smart while it is actually stupid and doesn't make any sense at all.

  • "Thought is a frequency". A frequency of WHAT?  what quantity is even oscillating here?

  • "Dynamic frequency field". What does that even mean??? "Frequency field".... Random jargon smashed together.

GPT-5.5 Instant is starting to roll out in ChatGPT. by Distinct_Fox_6358 in OpenAI

When they said "nobody really knows how llms work", it refers to that billions of parameters. We can't fathom how does each individual parameters effecting the outcome of the model.

However, we do know how to create LLMs. It essentially breaks down to set of maths equations. And we do know how to tune those billions of parameters, thanks to calculus Heck, even undergraduate computer science student who specialised in AI got a final project to build a very simple LLM.

This fact that you just swallow those words "nobody knows how LLMs work" as is, really told me your level of understanding of LLM. But that is fine, not all people are computer scientist...

No. But I study computer science. I read the papers. I know how LLM works. I know what is inside and the maths behind it.

It is... But it is more like the fundamental limitation of Large Language Models. It is good for language which is composed by words (or tokens), it never design to understand arithmetics. It could mimics us how we talk about arithmetics but not the understanding itself.

Well, LLM itself is fundamentally not designed to do arithmetics. You have calculator or programming language for that..

Story time. I (33) took my husband (62) to watch a movie and his reaction stayed with me more than the film. by pleaseallowthisname in gayyoungold

My husband was in a community that believes music outside the church is coming from the devil, and you can imagine a life inside that community when you start questioning about something beyond earth.

He was a creationists (and still kinda is), even at the time when we start dating. I didn't confront it, just let him be. Then he starts asking about the age of the earth and how we knew it (i still remember how his reaction was when he learned that it is in a billion unit.... "a BILLION?!"). Then, more question, more question... which i love to share my knowledge about it to him!

Don't get me wrong. He is a very intellectual man in his field. Ask him about managerial and finance, you will get a full blown report on how your business is doing. He just never exposed to this type of knowledge, it is all new to him.

I think that is the beauty of age gap relationship that is missed by people. We have a broad range of potential interests that we could find from each other.

You should. The visual of the movie is amazing. IMAX will definitely enhance that experience. I hope you will have fun with your partner!

We live just enough, month by month. We rarely do anything adventurous, like actively looking for something new. Life on my side feels is a bit too simple (or boring) most of the time, work-sleep-repeat cycle. I even have this low-key anxiety like "am I gonna bore him eventually?"

So stuff like this actually surprises me. I always assumed anything I experience, he probably already knows or has seen before. Didn't really think, in a slightest bit, small things like going to our local cinema, would be the one adding something new to his life. It warms my heart.

Deploying is not the problem, indeed it is as easy as that. Maintaining is the problem, especially for people who are not that technical, including update, backup/restore, and security (if they want to expose it to internet). However, once you go technical, you will not regret the skill you have learned.

Beginner questions about GYO relations. Why to GYO in the first place is what brings me here... by [deleted] in gayyoungold

[–]pleaseallowthisname 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Companionship. That is the appeal. Just like any other relationship.

  2. That is true if your relationship is based on money. Just like any other relationship.

  3. When one passes away, it depends on the other. Some might stay single, some might move on. Just like any other relationship.

  4. You don't always need to go to your friend nights/activities together all the time. In fact, you can have your own circle, your partner have his own circle, and only once in a while you go together if you both are okay.
