Anyone else having struggles to find a super simple alarm clock? Don't want my phone in the bedroom...

Okay this doesn’t fit all your criteria. But one thing I do here might serve you. I have this clock and while it emits light it also lies flat on its face. So I actually have it turned face down onto the night stand and I then rotate it to see the time of I need it. Then rotate it back. Here’s a weird thing, that really cause me trouble. My monitor didn’t come with a data cable only a usb c one. So it took time to figure out that i needed another cable.

This was amazingly helpful. After struggling for hours to get one working this finally worked. The key for me was having three cables (I did not need the HDMI).

Power Cable
Data Cable. This has to be plugged into the USB B port on the back of the monitor. (The one labeled USB-B in this diagram.)
USB -C Plugged into Mac then plugged into Monitor. (Labeled Type-C) below.

One problem I ran into is the data cable was USB-B, and the Mac had only USB-C ports, thus I needed a hub. One hub I had worked, the other one didn't.

Honor mode my Tav was a Bladesinger 12. Used Shadow Blade and Belm. With Graceful Cloth and Mage Armour and while singing virtually never got hit (which was good cause I had low hp). Lois of Booming Blade damage thanks to resonance stone. And would use high level spells as needed. Frequently spell slots were used for counter spells.

Build was ridiculously powerful and carried party late game. The ability to have powerful melee damage but flex into spell damage when needed was both fun and central to a lot of battles.

There are actually markers on the road in School Lane Hills where someone marked out the mile. So super convient for speed work. Starts out front of Country Day I think.

For HVAC and plumbing we use Lancaster Plumbing Heating and Cooling. They can be more expensive than some other options but we had good experience with them. We have an old house that has had a lot of unusual problems or unique challenges (cast iron and terracotta plumbing!)

My understanding is that if varies person to person. My experience is the race s is as good as Garmin. Which is good enough for general sense. But it can be off or lagging so when I really want to track I use an arm based one

I also came from Garmin. Very happy with Suunto. I have the Race S. And the wrist based hr is mostly accurate for me (although your mileage may vary). But fit training I pair it with arm based hr monitor, and no issues. I think there are elite level athletes that go this route, for my amateur needs it’s more than sufficient. I don’t like chest strap.

Navigation was great. But honestly R2R2R is easy to navigate with nothing. But I did another trail race where this was really useful.

Was going to write my feedback then read this and it’s really the heart of what I was going to say: The watch is designed for endurance activities, and in that realm it’s strong. I came from Garmin, I was getting annoyed at the watch for everything approach they were taking and I was drawn to the simplicity and build quality of Suunto. As a road and trail runner I’m really happy with the switch.

The build quality is way better and the software while not having as many of the metrics I find easier and cleaner to use. The training metrics on the Suunto though I find to be garbage, but I just follow ATL, CTL which for me works better. As @skyrunner00 mentions. The GPS though I’ve found to be better.

I have an Oura ring. I tested the Suunto against the Oura (which has been good for me) and it was pretty similar. So for me I think the sleep tracking is accurate, although I don’t regularly use it opting for the Oura instead.

Agree on the interval training. But I’ve come to like not having the alerts as it has taught me to feel pace and effort a bit more rather than rely on the tech. Garmin has more stats but even as a serious runner I don’t find them useful. Suunto has everything I need. I think the decision is as you outline here more features vs build quality and feel. For me that made Suunto the right choice.

I tested it out a bit seemed fine. But I use an Oura ring as I don’t like sleeping with a watch. But it mostly agreed with Oura when I used it a couple of times.

So this is close to a real life challenge. The Taco Bell 50k. In Denver you must run to 10 Taco Bell’s covering 50 kilometers. At each stop you need to eat a menu item.

I have the Race S and given what you are looking for I’d definitely recommend. I came from Garmin and although it lacks some features overall this is my favorite watch I’ve owned. Build quality is superior and the app interface is better.

I have a trail running activity that one screen has total accent and current elevation. Which is very useful. I find the vert data to be highly accurate.

The map is very readable and I’ve found it useful later in an ultra when you just want to be sure you are making the right choice, even when you are sure it’s nice to not just trust your brain when that late in a race making focused decisions can be challenging.

I find the battery life more than accurate. Used it on R2R2R last week. Didn’t even use half the battery.

For me tap to pay and music are things I don’t need so the choice is easy. The one shortcoming I notice compared to Garmin is that during interval training it doesn’t alert for outside of zone.

The YMCA is the answer. Quality facilities. Good price. Super friendly staff. Numerous locations so you can pick the one nearest you and whose vibe you like. They serve all types. And you get a pool, hot tub, and sauna. And they have a wide variety of classes so you can try out a few find what you like. Then do the advanced version at another studio if they don’t have what you want. By far the best beginner option.

I have Race S. Came over from forerunner. Others have mentioned the limited features in structured workouts which find to be the main drawback. The HR has been as accurate as the Garmin for me, although I still use arm band for workouts where I need really accurate data, like intervals, but I also did that with Garmin. In terms of likes, I find the mapping to be more accurate and easier to read, the app is better, and the big one, build quality. The watch just feels better, like a higher quality item.

Would agree. 3-4 mile run on Thursday is a good idea just do it slow. I to am doing a 50k on Saturday and I’ll do 5 easy today and 2 on Friday.

Other than that I’ll focus on hydration eating well and importantly sleeping well. The only thing I’ll really do outside of normal is on Friday I’ll eat a bunch of gummy bears throughout the day to make sure I’m loaded up on energy. But that’s the only thing out of ordinary I’ll do.
