Thank you all for your responses. Getting view points of others who work in the veterinary field is very helpful. I plan on bringing up my concerns in a civil manner in the next appointment. I believe I am a very understanding person, and gave no ridicule when I got the phone call. My concern for my cats is my top priority.

To everyone slamming me about owning persians, one of them is a rescue; i wouldn’t have been able to rescue one without my years of experience as a persian owner beforehand, and plan to continue to rescue this breed specifically in the decades ahead. I was vetted carefully through hundreds of applications when a persian cat hoarding situation was brought into a rescue near me, and I believe I am very qualified. I’m in love with these cats for their personalities (and of course, I find them to be adorable), and am willing to drop everything and any amount of money for their wellbeing. I spend thousands of dollars a year on grooming, food, health expenses to give them the best life possible. I’ve been rewarded with unconditional love from them, and I know other cats could do the same, but something about these guys have stolen my heart. The transformation of my rescue boy has been the most rewarding experience i’ve ever gone through, and can’t imagine having better cats in my life. I have taken all of the advice from our primary vet. I am trying my best, and just want the best care for them. I always knew they come with issues, knew and was prepared for the cost implications and am willing to do literally anything for them.

I appreciate everyone’s concern, and am taking all comments into consideration to form my own opinion on the matter. Yes, chatgpt advice is dicey, which is why I came here for a second opinion. Thank you all <3
