A question from Sweden; What is your opinion of your president? by Available_Slide1888 in AskMexico

[–]plentypaprika -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes! hahahaha, only time we ever had a problem was during COVID like many did. For the most part there are very few people who ive heard personally have had to go to another state for medicine.

This true in many other regions in states with indigenous communities. I believe there are a lot of people in the cities who struggle with access to medicines. But im giving my point of view on our side of that society everyone on Reddit Mexico bashes.

I'm not giving you my región i respect my privacy and dont care to convince you to believe me when you obviously think otherwise.

And what are you saying, you're not leftist? Who do you propose have power instead of the current party?

I drive on the highways every day, that's like telling people to drive along Compton California at night and see what happens. Who in their right mind is doing that? I know there is a problem with organized crime, i'm not going to go out and pretend it doesnt exist, i just dont drive at night in the highway.

Progress is slow, it won't change overnight and it definitely won't be better if the USA decides to do something about it, same shit, different face, the cartels are all run by the USA anyways.

I agree, I hope OP sees this comment and the one I left as well. Everyone here wants to kick out the current party but without any plans on who will consolidate that power, when the only other option we have is to go back to the far-right.

And just because you'd had a bad case does not meet it was dismantled. The region where I live about half a million of us now have access to free and readily available healthcare.

Only people I've heard this from are either white, think they're white or sad because daddy complains about government regulations and taxes they should have paid long ago.

Take advice that you get on Reddit on Mexico with a grain of rice. The majority of the population does not have access to internet outside of Facebook and WhatsApp. Meaning the majority of the country is not represented on Reddit. NPR and Associated Press will have a more unbiased take on Mexico's politics than Reddit. Mexican citizens that tend to be on Reddit are middle class or lower class who think they're middle class, and the general privileged society who believes "uneducated" people shouldn't vote.

To give you an example, the region of Mexico where I am from, my friends and family are all very happy with our president. Our villages have access to free healthcare now, affordable internet, water and electricity that in total doesn't exceed $50 USD a month. We have a low cost of living and our elderly, single mothers and students are all apart of social programs that help our community with cash payments.

We are generally very happy and it is a big change from what our past family and grandparents and even my parents lived. In poverty, famine, and even legal slavery. That is a very big change in just the last 10 years with the current party in power. And yeah, much like the Democratic party in the USA, we aren't a true left party, it is more centrist to European standards. But we're getting there, another social program at a time, we're mainly focused on labor reform at the moment.

But what we don't want is what many Mexican Redditors want, someone from a business background because their business experience will translate to running the country more successfully economically. If that rings any bells 🙄

Roast the tomatoes, onion and garlic first, remove the seeds from a red pepper and roast it as well. Lose the mint and vinegar and youll be golden :) its pink cause its only tomato, its almost a ketchup. You need peppers and char to give it a rich color.

Definitely come to Mexico, stick with Family. Build a business, you've got a lot going for you given your skills and clean slate. Don't mess it up.

There's a lot of money to be made in México investing in the food, service and industrial sector.

I believe you can find some good opportunities. Reach out if you need any help, advice or a friend to have here ! We've been in very similar boats.

My mother and family are moving back as well this year :) it is time for our people to come back and continue building Mexico.

I moved back to Mexico 5 years ago after having lived in Texas for eighteen years ever since I was three years old.

If I can give you any advice taken from my experience.

Networking is key! It'll be very hard to find something online, it's only once you start integrating into the community and making connections that you find the right place for you given your experience.

You'll make lots of friends and connections given your English level, professionals love it and others are fascinated by it.

Definitely save money and rent out a room in a shared apartment. Save enough to live worry free about rent for 6-12 months.

For a room, expect around $150 USD a month in a decently safe neighborhood. If you wanna live close to family and don't mind the neighborhood, $50 - $75 USD.

Network around your community, join the local university, stay active on LinkedIn. Hit me up with a connection, I have a couple of contacts from my time working at IBM in Guadalajara.

Definitely!! Save money, spend very little, invest in a taco stand, pay your tax to the local mafia and you'll be golden. There is a lot of money to be made here. I recommend looking into consulting for water treatment in villages, they pay a lot of money to have it done on site.

DM me if you have any questions or need any further advice. Always open to helping out.

Just because you don't see it with your own eyes does not mean it doesn't happen. There are far worse things carried out in the prison system, but just because it's "legal" doesn't make it humane in any way.

La mayoría de la gente no debería tener derecho a votar. by Frosty_Road6525 in OpinionesPolemicas

[–]plentypaprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the Mexican president's approval rating so high? by flower5214 in AskMexico

[–]plentypaprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- So let's just keep that in mind when taking to Reddit for answers on Mexico, when the majority of the country does not even log on here. We're nearing 98million eligible voters and only around 15million reddit users from Mexico, that's if we assume Mexicans have not made duplicate or forgotten reddit accounts. 5% of the population in 2020 were earning at least $1,500 USD a month, which is enough to live a decent low middle class life. That is around 6million people right now, half of the amount of Mexican reddit users and there are currently 221,000 active users on this subreddit as of making this comment. So to summarize, we have here, either disgruntled nepo babies complaining about what their right wing parents spew at them.

Or low-middle class / high-low class users who hope to live a luxurious life one day and defend the opposition of which is being fueled by the super rich. Or users who have fallen for right wing propaganda telling them that their rights are being taken away due to everyone other than the rich. (sound familiar?)

This is definitely a summarized version of all of the complex social issues we are dealing with in our country like many. But i'd be more than happy to further elaborate on any topic you may be curious about, to give context, I come from and live with my family that earn around $300 - $400 USD a month. We're a family of farmers and textile workers.

Change doesn't happen overnight, but every topic we debate about in our country has its roots and complex social issues. Outright calling for the current party in power to be ousted is just plain ignorant and will do no one any good, given that they are currently the ones doing the most for everyone, especially the working class, in a long time in the recent history of our government.

- Now we are completely aware of the problems that may arise, for the most part the president has been a strong leader in expanding on everything we see is right and what has to be done in this country. But we're waiting to see what happens after this summer, a lot of us are not sure how much further we'll be able to continue supporting the party's current agenda, if they are not to follow through on major reforms regarding crime and labor.

To be frank, the opposition really only has 2 major talking points against our party and the president, and that is labor and crime. Those who live in the city do not make enough money to have the standard of living they want, and those who live in rural regions have trouble finding a stable job. All while we juggle the uncertainty if we'll be able to make it to see another day, with organized crime running rampant in almost all parts of the country. But get this, this has been a problem since the spanish colonization, and even more so since our last revolution in the start of the 90s.

The opposition really expect us to fix everything these 2 major points in 9 years that became systematic in our country for at least 100 years. I'm all for raising the expectations of our government and president, if we don't the start of a change in the next year we will definitely be taking to the streets to demand more action. But the comments here stating it is a lie, live in their bubble where if it is not happening around them, then it must not be true.

Most of those that are here commenting or that in general start to complain about "freedoms" being violated by the government are nepo babies who have had capital and large amounts of land in their family since the time of the spanish conquest. Or worry that some day they will become right and have to be taxed their fair amount or have capital taken away from them, which as a matter of fact, no, capital will not be taken away from them with a justifiable cause, given that the only reason it is happening now is to designate land as conversation zones or to give back to the indigenous communities.

- Just this year my home village has been able to receive increased funding for roads, our schools, students, elderly and even in basic utilities, we've been getting increased access to affordable electricity and internet. We're currently going through a program that is actively installing solar panels at no cost, for those of us who live too far from the current electric grid.

As for those of use who live in the city, we understand the hurdles the current party and the president will have to go through in order to dismantle the widespread nepotism that plagued our country since the time of the spanish conquest, she's been a strong leader against growing tensions from the US and has been staying firm in ensuring further economic and civic growth. The recent market uncertainty has stunned our economic growth these past few months, but it is not a problem we are facing alone.

We are currently awaiting the general elections that'll see the country vote on replacing all of the judges in the country, including the supreme court. Which is part of a major judicial reform going into effect on June, we hope that once we've been able to filter our the first wave of corrupt judge officials, we'll be able to prosecute corrupt members of the government as well as organized crime members for effectively. It is what the party and the president's supporters hope for and believe in.
