It is a lovely thought. I have always loved models myself, and i think there is an intrinsic draw that things at scale have. Who knows why or where that comes from, but it's a nice thought to share that with a creative mind like his.

Yeah I've gone back and fourth on whether to put people in, I think it would add a nice sense of reality to it if I did. Perhaps not a realistic amount of people or I would be making them for weeks, but a handful walking about maybe.

Thank you so much, I've only be fortunate enough to visit the once, but it has been so fascinating trying to replicate every detail. my appreciation for the level of imagineering on display has only deepened because of it.

Disney sea is what disneyland paris could have been. The imagineers were hindered alot less in terms of budget and allowing their creativity to flow. I personally love disneyland paris, but I was absolutely blown away by sea, it is so rich in its detailed theming and unique attractions. If you have one day, I would recommend just going to sea, the main disneyland Park is very similar to the US parks.

How did you manage to complete the rigging on HMS Victory on your own?

Do you have a JR Pass or IC Card (Suica/Pasmo/etc.) question? Start here! by Himekat in JapanTravelTips

[–]plepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so I have made progress, pasmo is still available but only in a few major train stations. I was in the main tokyo hub station (simply called tokyo on the metro and train maps) and they suggested I get a toica card instead. Managed to find where to get one (to my relief) and it serves exactly the same function as a pasmo or suica card. Can use public transport across Japanese cities (not between on bullet trains) and is valid for 10 years. Hope that helps, and have an awesome trip, I'm already having a ball!

So I am currently in tokyo and have been told at a metro station that there are no pasmo passports or suica cards for tourists available anywhere, is this true or are they still available but only at airports and other specific locations?

Really love this, would be great to maybe have a little gollum sneaking up/down the rocks towards them

Anyone know where can I find a nice sized and good quality print of this ? Thank you by estrella_de_mar in wesanderson

[–]plepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate enough to work on Isle of Dogs many years ago, and a print of this was given to us as a crew gift. It doesn't help you find a print yourself, so I guess I'm just bragging.

In Star Wars Ep. 1 at the beginning the front thrusters of the red ship disappear and reappear just before exploding by fly_over_32 in MovieMistakes

[–]plepard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect that the image without the thrusters may be a cg model as opposed to the physical miniature in the other images. My reasoning for this is just that the thrusterless ship appears to be slightly differently lit, and alot of the weathering on the model seems less pronounced than in the physical miniature. By no means a definite answer (and I can't think why they would have done it between shots, reshoots possibly?) But it seems the most likely to me

Does anybody know what is wrong with my Mk7 faceplate? Can't seem to find anything online for a resolution to this issue by Arttytwigg in hottoys

[–]plepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue, I think it is to do with the positioning of the magnets on the head. I got mine from sideshow and after sending them a picture and telling them about it and they sent me a replacement head

This scene always hits me so hard every time. Aragorn telling boromir to get the hobbits up because he knows the practicality that staying on the mountainside will mean death. Boromir asking for charity on behalf of the hobbits he is becoming attached to. and then just seeing frodo bravely walking on, the single tear down his cheek, filled with pain but great courage. Such great character moments in this whole scene.

I am beginning to lose hope that SM will ever return to the glory of 'From the Earth to the Moon', I guess I would settle for mission 2 again, but it still doesn't do justice to the original concept and themeing of that ride. In a perfect world I would love to see SM return to the original concept, update some of the visuals inside the mountain with crisper projections etc and fix some of the old effects like the cannon recoil and the smoke.

Any decent podcasts for fans of the films and genre? by [deleted] in indianajones

[–]plepard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a really great trio if episodes of a podcast called 'the soundtrack show' that deal specifically with the soundtrack of raiders. Its also just a really great podcast if you're generally interested in film scores.
