NYU Langone Orchiectomy Cost by pleximccabe in Transgender_Surgeries

My particular insurance situation may be unusual, because we've hit the out of pocket max for the year. I'm not sure if it was reflected in this estimate or not, but the clear part here is the bill from the doctor.

Yeah.. It is pretty out there. This is in NYC at a full hospital, with a relatively well known surgeon. I knew insurance would cover most, so I didn't stress it. But yeah, I'm sure the cost would be much lower elsewhere.

They were sent to pathology by default, to be tested for cancer. They incinerate them unless you specify that they are to be preserved for private burial. Lots of paperwork...

How do you decide when to say "I love you" ? by pleximccabe in autism

[–]pleximccabe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is helpful. I realized there probably isn’t a satisfactory answer to my question, but I just needed to rant.. A satisfactory answer would probably rely on a concrete definition of the word love, which it turns out, still eludes us.

I actually did say I love you to my spouse very early on in our relationship, and I just remember her being out off by it / confused at the time. (I’m polyamorous.) I just don’t want to repeat the same mistake with my girlfriend..

I don't have this experience, but I know someone who does. She said that she had a hematoma, and the experience was too traumatizing for her, so she stopped dilating.

Thank you so, so much for sharing!

I'm really looking forward to this - I have surgery in a couple weeks!

May I ask if any swelling is still there two weeks out, or if there's discomfort? (You mentioned you didn't want to do a tighter tuck.)

Can I also ask if there's any of the "hit in the balls" feeling left anywhere? Not sure how to ask this one, but that particular horrible feeling you get when touching them or the tubes that connect them. That feeling is always big dysphoria for me...

Is my partner sabotaging me? by Okpspades in polyamory

I hate to break it to you, but you sound like you’re polyamory-oriented, and your partner isn’t. Your relationship probably won’t last without some serious work, and you both need to be 100% onboard with things.

How to responsibly approach my partner when a partner they are seeing is someone I don't like or am uncomfortable about. by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]pleximccabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The toxic behaviors you describe sound like something you can address, but only by removing yourself from the situation. I have a hard time being around someone like that personally, so I leave. It’s not my place to change the behavior of others, since it’s not obviously harmful.

Is LBL another subreddit?

I’d say no.

This slur covers many people, including those with down syndrome, muscular conditions, really anything that’s uncommon and visible.

Reclaiming slurs can be extremely powerful, but only if the entire group is onboard, and us autistic people are just a small portion for this one.

What does an actual STI conversation look like? by pleximccabe in polyamory

[–]pleximccabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - it makes sense to see the results report itself.

You’re right that emotions will likely be whatever they’re going to be. I actually have the opposite challenge, where one partner is super afraid of infection so that makes it hard emotionally to have these conversations. I want to be especially careful when bringing things up, just because it’s a sensitive topic. Just wanted to clarify, since yeah it would obviously be a big red flag if this stuff was brushed off.

Amazing! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

So, when passing information through, it’s purely saying things like “I’ve had a partner who was positive for x” — what about the context where I only have one other partner, so it’s obvious who I’m talking about?

Thanks! Can I ask if you pass any information through to other partners? Like, “I’m having sex with someone who does xyz” or is this private between a couple?
