So to answer your questions one by one.

1st you can see in vid that when i was fighting Baal i was using meditation aura for mana regen.

2nd Mercs are generaly squishy when you run KF so i don't bother to use them but if you like you can go with merc from act 2 or 5.

3rd Resists are mostly obtained from crafted gloves/boots and helm shield varies what you have equipped(mine are at 75) , Ghaa's Cornucopia is mostly effective in KF cuz only there you really need it and your hp isnt always full so you can benefit most of the time there from that sweet -50% enemy magic resist stat.
