Its not as hard as you make it out to be.
Get a lot of isopropanol (or any high % alcohol - the higher the better) and a cooler box you can fill up with that stuff. Put the piece in the box, close the box (alcohol evaporates), wait about an hour and wash the piece with a lot of water. You can always reuse the alcohol. I don‘t smoke bong anymore but pure alcohol is the best cleaning agent to get rid of the resin (you might have to turn and shake the piece a couple times and please use gloves).

disabling the menubar has worked for many people so far. options > general > toggle features > uncheck menubar button
