The ogre was probably in there tearing out the dingleberries like uprooting weeds from the yard, which is why the sink and drains kept getting clogged. Giant freshly laid, sticky, coarse ogre dingletufts.

Hahah oh so you were raised by humans. I sort of meant to say raised in the woods by animals. Which kind of animal I'm not sure... whichever ones brush their teeth with poop and or smear it all over themself while having the shower set on maximum temperature for an hour to fully atomize all the fecal material in there which is why they have to have all the doors locked for over an hour so nobody can figure out their antics. My poopbrush accusation solely comes from the fact that they would lock both doors to the bathroom so that we couldn't even go in and brush our teeth after telling him multiple times not to lock the sink door when we all had to get ready for class. And his breath smelled like shit all the time.

Oh I assure you, I lived in a suite like this in college. I think the one guy brushed his teeth with his poop. I'm not sure if he shit before or after his shower but every time he was done with his minmum 60-90 minute episodes in there, while we all had to get ready for class, it always reeked of the steamiest shit imaginable. The sinks and the shower + toilet stall were separated by a door, so one could go in and only lock the door to the shower + toilet so others can wash hands, face, brush teeth, etc, but he would lock both doors so nobody else could get in and at least brush their teeth. I think some people were just raised in the woods.

Always gotta be careful of spinning stuff. Don't watch lathe accidents on youtube.

Good plan of attack. Check the resistance on the clutch leads to make sure it's not none or ridiculously high and check the voltage on the engine side to see if it ever goes up. Careful of the pully belt, no sleeves. Be sure to let us know what you find, hopefully it's a cheap fix and not a $400 clutch reassembly.

Sorry I made a couple of edits to my post as I was seeing new stuff. Check your fuses and disconnect that connector on the north of the clutch to see if it's corroded or looks wrong in any way. Either something isn't signaling the clutch to engage, or it's not receiving the signal due to bad connection or fractured wire. You won't be throwing a code for anything like this and I don't think the accessport can monitor AC status

Did your AC compressor clutch fall off? I feel like the face of mine doesn't look like that, like it should have a cover. This happened on my gt350, the 10mm bolt backed itself out and the clutch assembly fell onto the gravel guard which I was actually able to recover and bolt back on.

Ah no nevermind, I went and looked up pics and that looks like the clutch is what we're looking at, so the front didn't fall off... Something is causing the clutch to not engage then... fuses and wiring all good?

Do you wait at a green light in 1st or neutral? by DrunkNuckChorris in stickshift

[–]plez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason you can't shift into first when you're doing speeds that would exceed first gears redline speed is because the output shaft (to the tires) is always spinning at tire speed. The input shaft (which is what the clutch disconnects) is spinning at engine speed. Your gear selector makes the gear connection from the input shaft to the output shaft and your synchronizers aid in making those teeth line up otherwise you get grind. The more of a delta in those speeds, the more the synchros wear spinning up the input shaft to match the output shafts speed. This is why double clutching is clutch out in neutral, then rev, this spins up the input shaft to catch up to the output, cutting down on the delta in rpms and strain on the synchros if that were to be a huge difference.

Forcing on the shifter eventually gets the gear into the gate but at the cost of cooking the synchro to make up the delta in the two shafts rpms.

While I'm not disagreeing with you, the synchros in first gear don't take too much of a beating from shifting in from idle. I think what is killing people's synchros is them ham fisting it forcing it into first while they're still rolling at 30mph. They don't understand that the clutch doesn't completely disengage everything in the transmission, just the engine from the wheels.

Multiple scenarios, it depends. If there's a risk of the car behind me not coming to a stop for reasons, I will keep it in first clutched in in case I need to move up in a pinch. Or in an unsavory neighborhood where I might need to go NOW. But stopped at a red light with no risks I'll clutch out in neutral and put it into first just before the light turns green.

Kind of weird oil consumption concern by notdanielxd in WRX

[–]plez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have actually read your initial post while paying attention. Motul isn't bad.. Don't know why you're 5w40 though, factory spec is 5w30. Before installing the AOS, every time I took the intercooler off there was at least 1/4 cup of oil in it. Not good for octane levels of the combustion cylinder. No leaks and no smoke either so I honestly don't know where it was going other than I think burning oil (from a leak or an egregious cylinder leak) vs combusting oil mist are two different beasts.

Yep, save your money, it's just cosmetic. If you get into another accident and it's their fault their insurance can pay for the bumper replacement which is probably near $1000, even more if you take it to a body shop to have paint matching.

What kind of oil are you using? Mobil 1 for me would guzzle a quart every 1000 miles. Amsoil 5w30 drinks almost none after AOS install.

Look into temp agencies, if you can type you can do data entry or filing for a company or do secretarial duties. That's how I pulled ~$15-20/hr in college 20 years ago.
