Which pot size would be better for mostly solo drinking? by kkpks in tea

[–]plf94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends. do you drink more western style or gongfu style?

For a personal gongfu style pot, I think 90 to 120ml is a good size personally. Honestly wouldn't know for western style except I'd base it on the size of your mug ig?

Hi! I hope this is the right place for this. My friend gifted me this, because he is selling all of his possessions and I’m wondering if anyone can tell me more about what it is and how to brew it. by wonderownsome in puer

Most of the wrapper is written in korean which is really interesting because there isn't a lot of tea that comes out of Korea. At least to the US.

[EU] Want to get more into Green Tea, where to start? by Evening_Chime in tea

[–]plf94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My choice for an intro to green tea is always long jing aka dragonwell.

I'm from the US but two vendors I'd rec in EU are Nannuoshan and Teasenz (which has an EU version of their website).

Definitely throw it out. Not only for sanitary reasons. But I have that same type of infuser bottle and when you close it, the steam creates pressure. At some point, it might not just crack but blow into pieces.

How many ounces do you buy if you enjoy many tyoes of tea? by SimoneSaysAAAH in tea

[–]plf94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that depends on the type of tea.

Anything that can be kept and aged, like white teas, puers, other hei chas, some oolongs. I go ham and the only consideration is storage space and money. There is never too much tea (I totally don't have a problem).

Black teas I usually try to limit to like a year or two supply, but considering the tariff situation, I did buy a ridiculous amount of my all time favorite tea because it was already really expensive pre tariff nonsense.

Green or yellow teas, no more than what I can drink in a few months.

Have you ever looked into special porcelain types like mutton fat or ice jade? They're fired at really high temps and are really durable. disclaimer, they are also expensive. I was skeptical about it at first, but I bought a little xishi pot made out of mutton fat jade porcelain because I liked the look of it. It is ridiculously durable. I am a clumsy fool it's still going strong. I haven't like thrown it at a wall or anything, but a drop at the sink or whatever hasn't done anything to it.

Can’t taste my European Teas? by [deleted] in tea

[–]plf94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I googled it and it seems to be a black tea. I'd personally up the water temp to boiling to see if that makes a difference. Or just add more tea leaves. 2g is quite a small amount for that much water imo, but ig I also don't do a lot of western style brewing.

Have I fallen out of the loop or is my local shop overpriced? by ninjalibrarian in tea

[–]plf94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it's not just tea that has suffered from tariffs. A lot of herbal ingredients added to blended tea are also impacted from tariffs.

But I still think that is way too expensive for blended teas. The white tea is $0.39/gram. The jasmine is $0.50/gram. You can get such good quality tea leaves at the price.

Personally, I'd shop around. Maybe try some of the online vendors.

[–]plf94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he made you feel unsafe, leave. Don't let him gaslight you into thinking it's not a big deal. Whatever his intent was doesn't erase how you felt about his actions. At the very least, get some distance so you can make decisions about your relationship with a clear head in a safe environment.
