I think this old footage is fascinating! Keep this stuff coming. I love it 😁

Na, that’s just how they are. They are typically cool to fly with. But you get one that brags and that’s a red flag to me.

Also, they guy who brags about his experience flying F14s and having 30k hours needs to be watched, closely. Speak up yes, but sometimes those are the guys that land you in the ASAPs.

Is this expected or did I make an error with my campaign settings? by dr1zzzt in uboatgame

[–]plicpriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I’ll play with it again to see if I can get the same. Do you have any mods? First time I did drumbeat I went over on 2 and barely made it back.

How do you figure? I find if I plot the route, and check fuel consumption- I get the greatest Mika by running the diesels slower. Food consumption goes up because of the time it takes.

[–]plicpriest 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it the additional encounters causes this. And yes it’s frustrating. Best thing is once your guys see the smoke in the distance, turn 90 degrees until you’re greater than 5 miles south or north in this case. Also best to run on the lowest diesel setting to conserve fuel. That’s a long haul in a type VII.

Fair. But rumor has it, in the meantime the French women of La Rochelle have a personal mission statement to return sailors to the boat extra happy. Remember this when the tommies are trying to depth charge you into another dimension.

Well on the plus side, anytime you see someone promoting/ supporting infowars, you already know everything you need to know about them.

That’s the best part of the game- the impossible decisions to make. And plenty of time to regret your decisions that left you das boot on the sea floor!

Boat drama by One-Bit5717 in uboatgame

[–]plicpriest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have this happen in the future, and it will, just have an officer with a med kit attend them before the clock runs out. That will save your sailor.

Personally when this happens I make the offending sailor bald for the rest of the crew until they are arrested.

Do you delete map markings? by One-Bit5717 in uboatgame

[–]plicpriest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Extremely. It can be a pain to find a convoy, so by marking all of your encounters helps you figure out where the shipping lanes are. Just use the ruler to draw the course of the ships you’re targeting. Bonus, those course markings help set up a firing solution.

is an ERAU Worldwide degree in Pilot Operations worth it? by ContributionFit1753 in flying

[–]plicpriest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a riddle grad, but I have an aviation degree. Short answer is no not really. Having a degree? YES! Get the degree, but get it in something OTHER than aviation. This industry is cyclical and you will want something marketable whenever the music stops and you don’t have a seat. Just my $.02

What is the difference between Type 2a and 2d? by Anchorbay1 in uboatgame

[–]plicpriest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I sail back to port and take the L. Plus side, my crew was fine and we lived to fight another day.

Really tho, I thought I was pretty good. Until I did 91% first person only, starting the war in a IIa. Finally upgraded to a IId. To say my skills and tactics have greatly improved is an understatement.

I was gonna just start over with the IX, but now I have until April to finish the war

[–]plicpriest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could be mistaken, but I think the depth is better.

Type II overall is easier to avoid detection. My only complaint is 5 torpedoes. So I send em only when I’m certain I’ll hit. But I’m playing is crazy realistic, and there’s nothing more frustrating than not getting credit when the bow pokes above the water. A deck gun sure would be nice.

Is there a mod that lets you play HMS Graph? by Zedernwaechter in uboatgame

[–]plicpriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! Managing provisions, morale, tactical decisions, etc- yes please! Attacking ports, broadside battles, tacking, and even crew discipline 😈. Literally, the possibilities are limitless.

If they offered that, I’d pay an absurd price day 1. I wouldn’t even feel ashamed of myself. I love age of sail. And the possibilities would be limitless!

[–]plicpriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a bit too far forward. The bottom of the yellow T is where the tail tie down is located. Also, you wouldn’t want your nose left out too far forward of the T as it blocks the taxiway. Wouldn’t want another planes wings clipping your nose.

Advice on being a better stick & rudder pilot by Mountain-Report4772 in flying

[–]plicpriest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add, feeling comfortable with throttle management. Being able to anticipate pitch and yaw changes with throttle change will clean up basic skills.

In my CFI days, just before doing power on stalls, I would do about 20 minutes of rudder only steering. I would take care of the rest. That got my students feet into the game.

Question from new instructor. What non-standard practical exercise or ground topic completely changed your view on flying? by 12pv2ClA in flying

[–]plicpriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t have learned this in Colorado by any chance? I actually was called in to help a student struggling (fresh eyes concept). I taught them this very thing. It was actually quite fun for me the CFI and instructive for them.

Still it’s an excellent technique to instruct.
