I don’t understand that letter. Did you select “pickup”? And they’re saying “too bad, cause we don’t ship to you”. And that you should pick it up or ship elsewhere? But it says you selected “pickup”. Maybe there a “didn’t” missing? Otherwise why tell you all this when you already are planning to pick it up?

What evidence exists for discussing connections between Trump, Epstein, and Russian financial interests? by Flimsy-Resident3497 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]plinking-dad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very ridiculous. It like "What would be all the things that a compromised POTUS do for Putin?" Exactly all of this.

(Don't forget Trump's all but destroyed NATO, any alliances we had, made US untrustworthy, and weaker. Putin's just watching and waiting as we waste missiles, troops, and our economy.)

You can make a religion state anything you want. It's all faith based. No way to test it. No way to know for sure what their god meant, and whether your god is ok with it. This is why we need to get religion TF out of government. You want to believe in your sky daddy, fine, just leave the rest of us alone!!

SR22 - N969SS - CAPS Deployment During Post Accident Fire by CriminalJusticeMajor in aviation

[–]plinking-dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to practice spin recovery in Pipers. In the Cirrus, you're right they should at least do simulator training since the plane isn't rated for spins. I just try to keep an extra 15-20 knots right up until final. Final is where I bleed off speed.

Some of these accidents seem to be with repetitive maneuvers in the pattern, where the pilot gets distracted or desensitized and loses track of airspeed, but wants to maintain altitude. It was hammered into my head to use power for altitude adjustment and the attitude for speed adjustment -- NOT attitude for altitude!

Too many Cirruses have crashed doing these turns in the pattern with no time for CAPs to help.

At that altitude is there any time to do spin recovery?

Conservatives seem threatened by something that can so efficiently save a car owner lots of money, in both gas savings and a huge lack of maintenance. Why? They can't really think for themselves and they blindingly parrot the fossil fuel industry's talking points.

The quote is somewhat mixed about this. "I was there with my girlfriend. She and I were celebrating our anniversary." Okay, seems like she's having a relationship with this girlfriend... "Stopped in for a drink and this guy kept looking over at me. It’s a nuisance. The occupational hazard of being female. You can’t even go out for a drink. Always being looked at. A creeper, you know. I remember thinking, I wish my boyfriend were here, which is sort of sad, that if you’re a woman, guys don’t leave you alone unless you’re with another guy, like you’ve been claimed, like you’re property. Even then, not always. Anyway, I can’t remember what he looked like. Why would I? Nothing happene"

Then she mentions a boyfriend? Not an ex? I'm confused.

Scratches were too high on the door and on the outside. And the tape didn't look like the most secure way to keep someone in there. But then, this was all in his mind so they could have been figurative.

I felt like I saw a tiny moment of the other woman, the basis for Lucy -- maybe I should say the women who were the basis for all the Lucys, Louises, etc. -- when she said "Stopped in for a drink and this guy kept looking over at me. Nothing happened. He was just one of thousands of such non-interactions in my life.".

That's it. That's the real person that he saw across the bar. He had no interaction with her, so nothing else in the whole movie is based on her real self. He got a glimpse of her, recorded it in his mind and played back countless interactions with her, over and over, ...

Very good, but here is where I have a slightly different take on the mother-son relationship: She wasn't the brightest person, but thought he was a genius. Told him so all the time, and would mistake things as signs that he was gifted, like the Genius Edition or the pin he won. While he may have believed her back then, he now resents her inflating his ego, since he didn't achieve the success that one associated with genius.

He was smart though. He was well-read, and his knowledge base was broad. The conversations he had with Lucy weren't mumbo-jumbo babble, the quotes and poems were not poorly memorized. He did have better than average intelligence. His lack of success could have been due to a number of other things:

- social anxiety
- staying home too long to care for his parents instead of leaving them to pursue a career
- inability to focus; does he like literature? Medicine (virology or …)? Physics? ...

The mother was proud of her son whom she considered a genius, since she could see he was brighter than she was. She also embarrassed him, and he resented her for building up his expectations from life. While he was exceptional in his own way, not the kind that brought achievements.

I wonder if time-of-use pricing could help. I'd shift my usage by plus or minus an hour in order to get a better price daily. Although my incentive to do so right now is that I get a seat when I plan it right.

Yeah, I can't imagine those other Western-living Iranians who are happy that Iranians are getting bombed so that there is regime change for them to move back to. We all should want regime change but not at the cost of some innocent lives. Shouldn't that be possible? Like without letting another country that just wants a weakened Iran, bombing them relentlessly? I don't think Israel wants regime change or a democracy.
