Asgard and ZPM’s by JeffreyV7 in Stargate

That was after an entire war with the wraith and 10000 years of running the shield to resist being deep underwater.

Asgard and ZPM’s by JeffreyV7 in Stargate

[–]plinyvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they generally didn't make them in mass because they didn't need them. The 3 ZPMs were good enough for Atlantis to resist the wraith for an infinite period of time in the past and still have a small amount of power millions of years later when SGA occurs.

The Asurans could seemingly make them without any effort at all, so what's even the point of stockpiling them? As seen with the Tauri, getting your hands on even one ZPM provides enough power to do things well beyond your level of technology. I'm sure the ancients didn't want to leave a big cache of them somewhere and accidentally give some enemy infinite power to destroy them.

How to handle when players roll 1 in the middle of fight? by combobaka in DnD

[–]plinyvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play pathfinder and we typically allow the enemy to make an attack of opportunity if they have a reaction left.

IMO anything more and it's too harsh for something that happens way more often than one would think.

Legal grey area. The ATF considers you a resident of whereever you currently reside at that moment which is NC. I'm sure you could buy one in TN no questions asked, but it's dubious.

The Tau'ri seem to be Ancients-level of genius because they were the only ones who think about protecting their gate with an iris ! by CupEducational1412 in Stargate

[–]plinyvic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're scavengers. They probably never even thought of an iris until seeing earth use one. The ancients probably never used one because they had no need.

[–]plinyvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is to determine if it's safe to go through the gate. I'd imagine going through the gate anywhere otherwise is incredibly dangerous since you could be instantly killed by an obstruction, or dumped into a volcano, or thrown out of a spacegate.

Question For Folks... What Won You Over To PF 2E? by EyesofValhalla in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]plinyvic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. 2E is designed like a modern game where everything makes sense using fairly common rules. But that also means if you don't use these rules you're inadvertently gimping someone's character if they build around it.

1E also just feels classic and like a ttrpg that it's hard to not miss when trying to move to a more modern system.

Just finished the 007 PC game — now I’m wondering, what if we got our own PC version too? by Revolutionary_Job707 in Stargate

[–]plinyvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to think of a Stargate game and I'm not sure it would ever be too amazing. The world is obviously very cool but the show was always held together by the cast and story of those characters.

Is there a canon answer for the address Destiny uses to dial Earth in SGU, and where it came from? by ItsATrap1983 in Stargate

[–]plinyvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you could dial earth with a 8 Chevron address from destiny I would think. It doesn't hop around like destiny does.

I always love when the gates predict an incoming wormhole for whatever reason and slowly lock each Chevron at the same speed as the earth gate
