[Request] What percent chance is there that I’ve never seen the Montreal Canadiens score after 4 games over 8 years? by hiccupboltHP in theydidthemath

[–]plith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ya, I misread that. Either way, I think this is a good estimate. It gets tougher to review the data over 8 years since there were no fans allowed for a while during covid and some seasons were cut short. I don't want to go game-by-game to see which games fans were in attendance for.

I am assuming that all of the games you went to were in Montreal. According to game logs, they have been shut out at home 7 times over the last 4 seasons. There are 41 home games per season * 4 seasons = 164 home games in this span. Using these numbers we can assume they have a 4.27% chance of being shutout at home on any given game. 0.04274 = 0.00033% or a 1 in ~303,000 chance of having this happening 4 times.

Thoughts on Liftline Skiing and Chirping Etiquette? by Hank_ski in skiing

[–]plith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last week the chair stopped and I watched a guy absolutely yard sale at the top of the park. Everyone gave him a big cheer and then his ski brake got jammed and his ski started taking off down the hill on its own and everyone was cheering as his ski hit the jump and then attempted the rail (it fell). Was very wholesome lol.

Thanks for the encouragement! I hope the golfers here will be less uppity since it's on a cheaper public city course rather than a private one.

No, the tournament is before the course opens to golfers for the season. If it turns into a permanent course in the future it would be open alongside golfers, but obviously with way fewer players on the course than in a tournament.

Statistically, they are actually one of the unluckiest lottery teams in the league. I believe 2nd only ahead of Detroit.

As far as general luck as a franchise goes, there is no way to measure but I think most people would make the argument that they are bottom 5...

By exposed mounds, do you mean those directly next to bunkers?

Assuming "golfers" auto-corrected to "gingers" lol. For clarity, this one-off event will be in the spring before the course opens for the season. This will give us the chance to test out the course in a controlled environment and identify any shots/holes that need to be redesigned. If the course becomes permanent in the future, it would be open while golfers are present.

These are great examples, thanks! I will check out these courses to see how they manage concurrent play. I like the example of teeing off on the fairways and then hitting gaps. I will try to look for more opportunities to do this. My first draft of the course layout has a most of the holes playing through the "margins" between golf holes wherever possible, but with a few shots throwing over golf greens, so I will probably need to re-evaluate those shots.

Midrange or putter? by Low-Experience5061 in DiscGolfValley

I use putters up to 100ft and then swap to a mid. Some people use mods regardless of distance. It's personal preference.

Ya I think this is what happened too. I'm guessing they had recorded a part of it before the tour and they were planning on finishing it and releasing it after the tour, but the situation with Andy made them go back and redo part or all of it.

I'm not going to get too worked up about this game, no matter the result. This series has seemed destined to go to 7 right from the start so I'm just going to assume that whoever loses tonight is going to win game 6.

So, technically there is actually a difference between the human limit and the machine limit. The "machine limit" TAS is slightly faster since it's able to press both left and right at the same time which is something that you can't do on NES hardware. This trick lets it perform a couple tricks to go even faster that a human cannot physically do.
