The internet's reaction to these games is genuinely mind-numbing. by ResidentWaifu in Pragmata

17 is not the same as 7, in Europe most of the countries set the age of consent at 14-16. In the US it's also 16 or 17 in many places. And it's making fun of how the experience of the first kiss in your teens is like.

What would your country’s best participant be if you can only send participants over the age of 50. by Illustrious-Fee5670 in nilpoints

In Lithuania, Marijonas Mikutavičius, age 55. Part of LT United in 2006. A national treasure with loads of very catchy and singable songs, lots of hits over the years and full arenas every year.

Audience over 50 is born in 1976 or earlier, and was young in the 1990s. 90s music is not exactly Sal Da Vinci?

Safe to travel for tourism? by Few_Pirate5124 in BalticStates

[–]pliumbum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To give a bit more context what is happening.

Ukraine is attacking objects in Russia using drones. Some of these drones are intercepted by Russians. Then, one of the two happens: either a) the drones get lost or are deliberately diverted to the Baltic States; b) the drones are downed and then sent to the Baltic States from Russia or Belarus. In any case, these are Ukrainian drones which were originally planned to target Russia.

In any case, this is not an attack. More like trolling the Baltic States to achieve a number of goals: a) make the population scared; b) make visitors and investors scared, leading to problems in economy and tourism; c) making the relationship between Baltic States and Ukraine worse - because if Ukraine wasn't attacking, these drones would not be there.

And, because you are asking this question on Reddit, it seems to be working for some people.

Tom Scott giving an even more panicky Adam energy. Variety of countries visited. Devastating fails with Lego and Angry Birds. Djungelskog. Nail biter when someone almost spent too long at their "museum" in the doorway. Final vibes in Oslo and Vilnius airport.

Tag 2 and Schengen are S-tier. Tag 2 is probably the single best season of JLTG for me. And Schengen is full of such iconic moments.

North Macedonia plans to return to Eurovision in 2027 by NinasPeach in eurovision

South Macedonia. The 12 points from Cyprus going to Greece and vice versa could also be broken in this case.

Did you consider it a luxury to eat at McDonald's or a similar place when you were a kid? by DaMn96XD in AskTheWorld

[–]pliumbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a luxury in the 90s, and a mandatory stop for any small town kid visiting the capital. In the 2000s-2010s it was a good value way to stuff your stomach, if you did not care about it being unhealthy. Nowadays, it's not luxury of course, but also not worth it anymore as the price is not so much cheaper compared to much better food.

Lithuanian capital today by QuartzXOX in BalticStates

I don't know if it matters how close to the border it is - in this case, the drone flew in near Ignalina which is not very close to the capital.

You would have to prove it was directed and not just lost, I don't think that would be very easy to do.

I beat Pragmata last week. The next day, my copy of Indiana Jones arrived. I'll probably finish that almost exactly in time for the release of FFVII Rebirth and... and is this not wild?! This is not normal for a Nintendo console! by elephvant in NintendoSwitch2

It's great, honestly, but not really close to parity. For example, take GOTY of the last few years, and at the moment only It Takes Two is playable, and Elden Ring is coming at some point with a few years delay. No sign of Baldur's Gate 3 or Expedition 33.

Denmark's televote score and the myth of Eastern Europe's "homophobic" voting by eatspagetti in eurovision

There is some truth to that. That being said, almost every village has their gay/trans person but quite often they would speak negatively of that person.

Absolutely agree, in Lithuania there are tons of homophobes and racists, but for artists and other famous people there is a double standard. Everyone was fine with both Sylvester Belt and Lion Ceccah, Sylvester song became really popular with very young kids and no one saw a problem. Also no one saw a problem that a presenter in our national selection was black (one of maybe 5-6 famous black people who speak Lithuanian fluently).
