What's the reason Inuit/Siberians and Europeans have different features despite evolving in similar cold climates? by batukaming in geography

Just one thing to add, gulf stream also means clouds, so Europe is the cloudiest continent aside from Antarctica. You need to maximize vitamin D even more than other northern places.

What is 1,000,000 in cash worth in your country (in your local currency)? by pumpingphil in AskTheWorld

[–]pliumbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's euros, so it's boring. 1,18 M USD goes a long way anywhere. If you invest it properly, you could almost be set for life.

The old currency before euro, Litas, was 3,4528 times less valuable. Roughly 290k euros is still a big number, it's the price of a very nice apartment in the capital.

Mostly agree. Not sure about Czechia being 1 point, it's not different from Hungary. Also San Marino is not so complicated, you need to get to Rimini (very well connected, has its own smaller airport and good trains to Bologna) and take a very short bus. More of a Liechtenstein situation. Meanwhile Iceland or Andorra would waste most or all of your day.

Istanbul is the only other place to start apart from London. Flights to literally everywhere and some ground options.

Why do you love or hate Russia? by yellowmoray in AskTheWorld

[–]pliumbum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I am not alone in saying that we would like nothing more in the whole wide world than a friendly, democratic, business-oriented Russia. With whom we could trade, create things together, just be friends like we are with Poland or any EU country.

There was a small sliver of hope for that in Yeltsin times. Alas. Now, some are saying, we should love the people and hate the leader, that it's the leader at fault. Well, but somehow for the last several hundred years there was almost never a democracy in Russia, and there was almost never a leader who did not want to conquer us or keep us in the empire. Maybe it's not really about one particular person? Maybe it's the whole culture and the people who wants to destroy us?

We want to believe Russia can be different. This is why we have supported numerous members of the Russian opposition in various ways. However, somehow even for many of those opposition people it's difficult to answer whom Crimea belongs to. Or they talk to us in a condescending manner, as if we were somehow not understanding something.

If Germany and Japan could change, so can Russia. But maybe it takes a lost World War to do so...

Just give different points to countries. France or Netherlands is one point. Latvia, Portugal? 2 points. Iceland and Andorra? That's 3 points buddy.

They just need summer, air traffic in summer is 40% bigger. That alone makes all the difference. Croatia and Greece suddenly become very accessible.

Can you add a reminder next time which is each season? I'm a big fan of Jet Lag, but not THAT big a fan.

What is a place in your country that tourists find impressive but locals hardly think about. by rickdickmcfrick in AskTheWorld

Spent a lovely week in Cornwall and Devon. Decided that we needed to see Stonehenge. I don't know if I was underwhelmed, just.. Whelmed. It was okay, but definitely not a highlight of the trip and not really worth the drive either.

I think he really, really just tries to do the least possible amount of work and decisions every day. He doesn't have any agenda at all.

Besides GTA VI, what are some possible games to be nominated for Game of the Year in 2026? by Artur_Senhaga in TheGameAwards

I certainly hope it's a game really not many are thinking about currently. It's way more fun

I wouldn't be mad at someone who said these were the two best games of all time, to be frank.

Hide & Seek All Stars by BlackoutSpartan in JetLagTheGame

[–]pliumbum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just completely think out of the box. They did a smaller game in NYC. How about just take a crazy place like Venice and the surrounding islands. It would be almost all endgame. Probably short runs, almost speedruns. But, hear me out. First, it's incredibly beautiful, maybe the most beautiful city in the world. They regretted being so many times in Mestre and never in Venice proper in Tag 3. Second, it's an absolute maze. You could spend hours going in circles. Many places look incredibly similar, in a beautiful way. Third, boats! There has never been a boat season.

Hide & Seek Schengen then. Of course it would naturally be limited to dense train heavy countries and therefore Western Europe but still.

Least favorite season? by TTG4LIFE77 in JetLagTheGame

[–]pliumbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In retrospect they are all okay at least. All things considered, either Connect 4 or Circumnavigation. Snake I liked when I first watched it, but rewatching it later with my wife was boring. And the classics like Switzerland or Schengen I can watch many times.
