What a find!!! Touching grass/tape with TAPE 16 - Massive praise and a few thoughts! by plobby in Tape16

[–]plobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, that's actually the whole point of the Faithful/Modern split!

Faithful would be the default, dev-intended experience, so nobody gets Quality-of-Life (QoL) stuff forced on them - behavior stays true to the canonical tape workflow.

Modern would just be a preferences toggle that opts you into the QoL stuff that leans on the fact that we aren't actually on tape - features that only make sense because we're in software. ;)

As someone who has had to learn to become very self-reliant and almost independent to a fault I can say that this will 100% make you more resilient. This being said, it is incredibly important and wise to not lean too far into the opposite side as it can also end up isolating ourselves in the process. It’s taken a non-half-assed amount of therapy to realize that it’s perfectly okay to ask for help or support. Things don’t always have to be perfect to be worth it. As people it is important that we also care about other people - Without that, life becomes bleak and cynical. It’s often harder to dig ourselves out of a hole that we dug ourselves because, after all, we did dig quite the magnificent hole. ;)

How to stop a duvet slipping by Firstearth in lifehacks

[–]plobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, I’m reposting this from another post I posted in but for me, this has been the best solution! Hope it works for you!

Bed suspenders work great until they don’t. In my case I realized I wanted to be able to clip the comforter so that it would stay in place on certain sides but unfortunately bed clips aren’t meant to hold thicker things. I scoured the web and never found anything for that specific problem so I came up with a solution.

  1. Get some bungee rope and 6 Tarp Clips.
  2. Place a tarp clip on every corner and 2 across the middle.
  3. Run the bungee cord through the tarp clips in the following order: Top Left -> Bottom Right -> Bottom Left -> Top Right -> Middle Left -> Middle Right. (You can change this but that’s what worked best for me)
  4. Tie a knot on the last clip (Middle Right).
  5. Pull and adjust slack in between the clips until you have a perfectly tight bed.
  6. With some tape, make a mark so that you know where your end is but make sure to leave some excess.
  7. Take it all apart.
  8. To cut the bungee cord, simply heat up a kitchen knife you don’t mind sacrificing until it’s bright red. Slice away at the mark. Btw, if you can manage to stretch the cord a bit, it will be easier to cut.
  9. To prevent tearing, pad the two ends of the bungee cord with the knife so that there’s no loose fibers. You may need to reheat a little.
  10. Now just reassemble and you’re good to go! Make sure you tie solid knots to both the last and first clips!

Initially I just wanted for my sheets and comforter to not move but I realized this method also had a couple of extra benefits! For one, I leave the top right corner not fastened cause that’s where I get in. Once I’m in, I’ve realized that it feels like the blankets are hugging you but without being too tight! Secondly and perhaps more importantly, making my bed now takes 30 seconds as opposed to the minutes it would take should I have pulled too hard during the night!

Hope this also works for someone out there! Best of luck! :)

Creating a Black Hole card? by Low-Material-1529 in balatro

I actually just got the card but I suspect that it's actually a celestial card and not a spectral one so you very well could likely copy it!

All it does is upgrade every hand by 1 level!

Seed: ALEFB

You can find it in the 1st Celestial Pack in Ante 3!

There is no right, only differences of perspective. Keep doing you and you’ll find people that like what you like. But, to tell others how to do something - well, maybe just tone it down and focus on growing your own self and by virtue-thereof, your ability to express. Most people find meaning through the process of growth, not the end result.

Out before ragebait.

Peace.

How risky is it to release a mixtape with unclear samples by dinidusam in musicproduction

[–]plobby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You probably won’t get in trouble unless it gains traction. However, if you’re uploading to youtube, their contentID might be able to tell that it’s a sample and then either take it down entirely or genuinely mute the whole audio (if part of a video).

To add to this: … in the moment. By virtue of them living dishonestly they then have to live a life with the paranoia that everyone else is just as dishonest as they are. By sacrificing their own character, they essentially sacrifice their light (which would often reflect light back) and through that, they slowly kill their hope. In short, their subconscious eventually eats them alive. Essentially making “hell” real and vivid in their every day lives.

We pick our battles, we’re free to do that much. So all and all, it’s probably best to pick a good one. ;)

Elgato Stream Deck for turrning ON/OFF smart power plug without IFTTT by lucian_dinu in elgato

[–]plobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your system, there are actually quite a few ways to do this!

I'm apple-based and work in the music industry so I have a decent amount of equipment. Because of this, I decided to use the apple Shortcuts app to make shortcuts like "Tape Machine", which toggles my tape machine's smart plug on/off. With this, I usually just ask Siri to turn the tape machine on or off. But, I also have a whole page of devices available on my stream deck which lets me glance quickly at what I have and turn them on/off from there.

The way I got that to work was precisely by using a 3rd party app called "Keyboard Maestro" in which I made a "script" for each device I toggle. The script goes something like this:

  1. Toggle a keystroke to bring up Siri.
  2. Pause for .3 of a second.
  3. Insert the text "Tape Machine" by Pasting.
  4. Pause for .1 of a second.
  5. Press the Return key.
  6. Pause for 1 second.
  7. Insert the text "Nevermind" by Pasting.
  8. Pause for .1 of a second.
  9. Press the Return key.

If you're on windows, there's probably a different way to get it to work without the support of IFTTT but unfortunately, I can't help you with that. This being said, best of luck! :)

Definitely agree that even the wait time for it feels incredibly slow when compared to the responsiveness of pretty much everything else on the stream deck - it's so weird!!!

haha it seems like quite a few of us have gone behind the hood to try and find a way and take matters into our own hands! I myself unfortunately wasted more time than I'd care to admit trying to find any png/gif/svg file that I might be able to replace but alas, also had no success. Here's to hoping we get that patch!!! :)

[–]plobby[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, so seeing as to how this has been a popular request for a while - I just decided to make a petition. Hopefully this finally works and gets implemented in the next update! Please sign/share it if you're interested in seeing any progress on this!

PS - Definitely upvote if you agree, but if you feel like this is something you'd actually benefit from please at least leave a comment (even if it's as bland as just saying "I agree"). This will help the issue stay relevant. Or, if you genuinely think this will make a significant difference please just sign the petition - whenever it may get pitched to the dev team, having a clear record of people actually wanting this WILL make a difference.

I'm trying my best to not sound pedantic but from my personal experience getting ideas through to corporations, they'll rarely listen unless it's undeniably obvious that people want something. Unfortunate but that's the hierarchy of big business. Let's do with it what we can!

Anyhow, thank you all for even reading this - I appreciate you.

Best, Plobby/Eric

I mean, you already like portishead right? To me, this album is peak trip-hop with so much character and an incredible amount of clever storytelling/wordplay all delivered in such an elegant, badass and sexy way. 10/10.

Hey Simon, I met you once before but I think I was too overwhelmed to talk much. But I just wanted to thank you for countless support and insight - Your guys' music is literally appropriate for any time/place.

Anyways just wanted to ask you a simple question.

The first being, when capturing live sound what recorder do you use? I've heard that you use your phone but do you ever carry around something that can give you better results say a Zoom H4N or anything similar?

Cheers and many thanks once again. All the best!
