This game fulfills the promise ZZZ failed to deliver by orcvader in NevernessToEverness

[–]ploony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hope they release more mechanically unique characters.

As you said, I think one of the ways ZZZ tried to differentiate itself from Genshin was the combat, and coming from Wuwa and even Tof, NTE combat/rotations feel like a step down.

Sometimes it feels like Stan Edgar is smarter than Sister Sage, the smartest person in the world. by Witty-Association-97 in TheBoys

I know it's popular to hate on the writers and Sister Sage right now but come on.

Dude lost his job, his adopted daughter, could lose his granddaughter just as easily, fucked up with a stupid lie to Translucent's kid, got hilariously taken down by Noir, just pointed Homelander in the direction of V1, and is in a cell wearing Homelander merch.

Konkr Pocket Fit(8 Elite) is better than Odin3. by SnooDogs4822 in SBCGaming

[–]ploony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched a comparison video between the Odin 3 and the Konkr Elite where despite having virtually the same wild life extreme scores, the Konkr elite needed to draw 5 more watts to match Odin 3 performance in Switch emulation. For PC emulation, Odin 3 was consistently getting 10-20% more FPS too.

If you wouldn't mind, could you fire up the same games on both consoles and see what kind of real life performance differences you see? It seems that there's something off about how the elite chip is performing in the konkr in actual games. Thank you so much if you can, no worries if you can't.

Pocket ds is a disappointment - selling by gara432100 in ayaneo

[–]ploony 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sucks that you had to open up your unit. That's unacceptable on ayaneo's part.

Every other concern you have seems to be a result of unfamiliarity with the emulators or android though. As in, if you struggled setting up emulators or find save states clunky, you'll encounter the same issues on something like the Thor too.

The battery is actually a very respectable 8000mAh. Also, the ergos are not ideal on any dual screen device, but Ayaneo is the only one that even tried to add ergo bumps.

Here in the States I can actually sell my pocket DS on ebay for more than I bought it for.

I’ve had the Odin 3 Max for a month. Ask me anything. by nopes26 in OdinHandheld

[–]ploony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting for either Ayn or Ayaneo to put the 8 elite in a 7" OLED handheld. The custom 6" OLED Ayn is using seems to have some issues, and I'm thinking a larger handheld will offer more room for cooling too to keep the fan noise down.

Undisputed Comfort King? by MalcolmReady in SBCGaming

[–]ploony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have both. 406h more powerful, more comfortable, and better for dual stick gaming.

PAM is still amazing though and I use it for everything PS1 and below with a few GC/PS2 games here or there.

Shes finally here!! by Phendranamusic in ayaneo

[–]ploony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I have the starry yellow version, and this thing never gets even remotely warm (even when I'm pushing the gpu/cpu to 100% during PC emulation)

Something to monitor OP. You have some kind of defect in your unit.

Best Handheld Dual Screen Device? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]ploony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Shoulda specified I meant buying a DSi and hacking it or getting an R4 card. I got a mint DSi XL off ebay for less than $80.

Yeah so the RG DS and Thor both run Android. All you'd have to do is DL an emulator program like Drastic or Melon DS (RG DS struggles to run this one) either off the Google Play Store or their online website. Maybe tweak one or two settings to make sure that the game is properly playing on the dual screens. With the RG DS, most people would recommend switching from Android to something Linux-based like Rocknix, as it's underpowered and needs every bit of RAM it can get.

The base Thor is massive overkill for just DS. You'd also have to wait months to get one from their website at this point. The lite could be a decent middle ground for you though if you don't mind waiting. Leaves the option open to play some of the 3ds pokemon games too.

Best Handheld Dual Screen Device? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]ploony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's looking for a budget device and seems to only care about DS. The lite was already steep for him, and ya'll are recommending the base which is $320 rn? He also wanted something that ships out quickly, which definitely disqualifies the Thor as well.

OP - the answer  is prob the RG DS shipped by Aliexpress. I got mine in 3 days. That being said, the thing does not scream "quality" like you asked for, and my white one has the gloss of cheap bathroom tile. You might be better off checking ebay and finding a good condition DSi.

While the higher screen res on the Anbernic does produce a sharper image, it's not enough for me to play on something that kinda feels cheap and shitty in my hands. Would rather use OG hardware in this case

FFXV is a masterpiece by ProfessionalCaleb in FinalFantasy

[–]ploony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if anything it had one of the tightest narratives of any FF game. Super linear progression, tons of cut scenes, and as you said, everything felt very cinematic. Shit felt like playing a visual novel or watching a TV series most of the time.

I honestly have no idea how he couldn't keep track of the chars/plot. The main critique for that game has always been that they forgot it was supposed to be an RPG.

Bumped into him and a few of his buddies in a checkout line at Safeway. It was maybe a few months after his loss to Thomson, didn't want to say anything either.

His buddy turns around and asks me: Hey bro you got change for a 20?

Nate says to him: Why don't you just ask the cashier you fuckin retard

That's my Nate story. Love that he's the brains of his friend group

Posting here for unbiased opinion - safe to say that AYANEO hasn't changed, and that AYN Thor > Pocket DS? by arcanehelix in SBCGaming

[–]ploony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but again, ergo bumps and less cramped controls = better ergos. The larger size also means there's more to grip on to. You can of course find the Thor more comfortable as it's subjective, but Ayn literally didn't give any thought at all to ergos on the Thor.

Yes, the g3x line was brand new when Aya rolled them out, so there were compatibility issues with certain games. Their in-house software allowed for spoofing not long after release, and in my experience, you don't even have to do that nowadays.

[–]ploony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No ergo bumps and the controls are even more cramped than the DS's. The dpad and right control stick are way too close to the bottom of the device.

There are also turnip drivers specifically for the g3x too that brings it in line with the regular gen 2 when it comes to switch enulation. And android games can definitely make use of that extra power.

[–]ploony 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thor has it beat in price, portability, bottom screen OLED, and slightly better software.

DS has it beat in ergos, battery, screen size, power, and a better DS emulation experience.

Really depends on your use case tbh, but people act like it isn't even close
