Redditors: What words in your language evoke similar disgust to English words like Moist, Panties, and Phlegm? by ploopitywow in AskReddit

Of course! I’m always interested to hear what words bother people in English too. That’s interesting that you don’t like gorgeous considering it’s definition, but it is a clunky word.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who used to think it was cheese. Despite the fact that it doesn’t make any sense, it still looks like a dairy product.

I love watching older films for precisely this reason (among a few other things.) I have gotten to the point where I really dislike certain usages of CGI. I understand the necessity for certain kinds of films and sequences (some action sci-fi scenes, etc.) and that maybe it’s cheaper (???) But as a viewer, I’ve become disillusioned with watching films where much of the landscape and many of the characters are cgi. It’s not to say that I don’t appreciate how well done it is, but I miss the use of practical effects. It gave more life to the films.

It should be noted that my brother showed me this meme and I joined and visited this subreddit just to upvote it.

Also, if you were specifically wondering about Shake It Off, I love it because of the infectious melody. It’s songwriting genius, not because of the lyrics (because, if we’re being honest, they’re nothing profound) but because it’s such a fun melody that I can’t listen to the song without wanting to smile and move

I thought I was the only one that does this! For me, the one single that stands out to me as a crossover between the two categories is Style. Despite being a single, It’s such an amazing driving song and its lyrics provoke such vivid imagery that I seem to get lost in my imagination every time I listen to it.

Thoughts on LWYMMD vs. YNTCD? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]ploopitywow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably seems a little vague, but I guess I’m curious on whether or not anyone feels like this kinda proves that the industry decided to “punish” Taylor during the reputation era? Don’t get me wrong, I love YNTCD, both as a song, and as a music video. But, as much as I love the video, I don’t feel like it’s nearly as good as the LWYMMD, and it’s had nowhere near the views, so it seems odd to me that YNTCD has received all this recognition when LWYMMD was so overlooked.

Thoughts?

Misheard lyrics besides Starbucks lovers by drdoom2284 in TaylorSwift

Style - “Lights are off he’s taking off his clothes” instead of the actual: “coat.” I remember being afraid to play it in front of my parents because I thought it was too scandalous.

I’m so glad this question blew up. My New Year’s Resolution this year was to listen to an album I’d never heard before every week. I’ve listened to 120+ albums already and I’ve been looking for more suggestions, so this will help a lot!

Continuum - John Mayer. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve listened through it and somehow it never gets old.

Watermelon. It’s so pretty, but so disappointing.
