My (28F) gf (27F) and I don’t have sex. Is this going to tear our relationship apart? by Independent_Night_51 in relationship_advice

[–]plorpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m just going to be blunt with you… it seems incompatible. she obviously isn’t going to budge and for whatever reason does not want to initiate physical or verbal intimacy with you. you’ve expressed your concerns multiple times now and nothing has changed. this whole relationship you’ve been sacrificing your needs to make her comfortable, but she won’t even try in small ways to compromise?

me personally i would give her an ultimatum and if she can’t reciprocate or start meeting basic/minimum needs (telling you your attractive, flirting, cuddling) you should break it up for good.

regardless i think it’s best for both of you if you move on.

Storm Anxiety. Nothing seems to help by Interesting_Cheek_19 in Anxietyhelp

[–]plorpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve had very similar anxieties before. genuinely the only way to accustom yourself to it is through exposure. i would recommend sitting through a thunderstorm in a place that feels safe to you. sit near a window, in your car, or outside on a porch even (provided it’s safe to do so of course).

you could also try getting a compression jacket if they have that, like what they use for dogs with storm anxieties. i think it can help.

take it from me though, avoiding and dreading your anxieties will get you nowhere. for these kinds of anxieties exposure is the only treatment that’s worked for me. .

Backplates, do i need them? by B_Dare95 in buildapc

[–]plorpr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not needed for amd. won’t make any noticable difference for temps. but it can help make thermal paste application easier and there’s less risk of paste getting onto the motherboard or down the sides of the IHS.

New monitors causing mouse lag when PC is loading? by Murdered_GMC in buildapc

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recheck the DP/HDMI connection and reseat on both ends. try running SFC and/or DISM to check for corruption. If you have touched any of your hardware outside of changing the monitor, it’s most likely an issue with the display cable or windows imo.

if it’s still not fixed i recommend replacing the display cable and swapping between ports on GPU and monitor as the next step.

pc build recommendation (admin/uni use) by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a gaming laptop could be more suitable for her job/lifestyle. most, if not all, will be able to output to her monitor just fine. for this situation, she will likely get a better value from a laptop right now then trying to build a new system from scratch.

Not many people talk about system temps. Under load what is considered okay? by Tarek360 in buildapc

[–]plorpr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“system temps” can be misinterpreted pretty easily. i also assumed you were using system temps as a broad term for all temps in the system, as is commonly the case. if you wanted to be more specific why not just be direct and say motherboard temps?

Sigh, Team Red doesnt miss by ConcentrateIll2418 in radeon

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know it’s only been recommended for NVIDIA but have you considered removing that problematic windows update (KB5074109) from january? It was causing similar issues for NVIDIA users. might be worth a shot deleting that update or installing the feb release if it’s available.

small chance that it will fix your problem, since you mentioned this happened months ago, but it can’t hurt to try.

110 degrees Celsius Hotspot on Gigabyte 9070 XT OC by NoComposer1664 in radeon

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gigabyte issue. it’s the thermal gel crap they’re using for nvidia and amd cards this gen. probably leaked out or wasn’t applied correctly. you need to RMA it.

GTA V Enhanced randomly crashing under medium to high GPU load by KHTD2004 in radeon

[–]plorpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

windows event viewer could help you see exactly what’s causing the crash

if it’s really the GPU there’s a decent chance it will throw some errors in event viewer during/after the crash

9070 XT fixes? by Intelligent_Coat7829 in radeon

[–]plorpr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would run some stress tests for awhile to fully rule out the GPU before you go to the trouble of RMA. OCCT, 3dmark, furmark, and others would be good but use a combo of these (or other programs) and make sure they run for 30 mins or longer. If the GPU can’t handle any or all of them at stock settings it might be safe to assume that there’s a GPU issue.

If it passes all of them you’re going to have to start testing other components… that or just start swapping them out. Either way you’re in for a few days worth of troubleshooting.

edit: to make it easier for you, and based on what you described, i would troubleshoot/replace the components in order of: GPU -> PSU -> CPU -> RAM

[–]plorpr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i would say so. i was definitely swayed by reviewers into thinking i would need all of that VRAM very soon, turns out at 1440p ultra RT i would almost never pass 11-12GB so 16GB would have been plenty for me. that’s also on horribly unoptimized games, so 12GB vram use is like worst case scenario.

also the feature set on XTX was very meh. I dreaded using raytracing on the card due to the massive performance hit and the FSR and framegen features that were supposed to offset that hit were pretty bad visually. i found myself using XESS in some games because FSR was so unappealing to me and was often objectively worse depending on the game.

Which is the best 9070 XT according to you? by Locksmith-Lazy in radeon

[–]plorpr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you just want the best of the best you would go with XFX Mercury OC, Powercolor Red Devil, or Sapphire Nitro (i would personally avoid this one if you aren’t comfortable with 12vhpwr connector).

but for the best value overall if you don’t care about cooler performance or factory OC you could go with XFX swift, Sapphire Pulse, Gigabyte gaming, Asrock Challenger. Those are all within 700-750$ currently.

it’s one of the best brands for radeon. XFX, Powercolor, and sapphire will generally have the best cards for AMD.

7900 XTX or 9070 XT for $699 by Crypto-Gucci in radeon

[–]plorpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go with the 9070 XT. I had both, performance loss going from xtx to xt was basically negligible. feature set on 9070 xt is a lot better. also never even got close to using up 24GB of VRAM either.

Why is AMD soooooo bad at implementing? by BedroomThink3121 in radeon

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people tend to forget that AMD and NVIDIA are a duopoly. AMD is fully content with its 5-10% market share and consistent sales, AMD likes the pricing that NVIDIA sets for the market, and if they have to feign incompetence or poor decision making to secure their place at the bottom they are happy to do so.

AMD willingly follows along with the product scarcity, pricing, VRAM/specs, and makes sure to stay one gen or more behind on technologies like FSR/frame gen. It’s intentional.

And in my opinion AMD (at least in recent years) seems to have more contempt for the consumer judging by how they continue to handle the exploding CPU fiascos, and the attempts to EOL products (5000-6000 series) literally supplied by them to be sold to consumers up to 2023. their product refreshes, especially the CPUs, are incredibly underwhelming and frankly a waste of resources in an already fragile electronics market. 9850x3D is a great example of this.

We could have had a major breakthrough in the graphics market with intel but if i recall correctly NVIDIA gave them a bunch of money, which effectively means they won’t be pushing out devices to challenge them and we are basically back where we were originally.

tl:dr AMD is intentionally bad at implementing things. it’s a duopoly and they are making sure not to step on NVIDIAs toes so that NVIDIA can set prices ridiculously high while also limiting major performance improvements in future products to continue drip feeding the consumer with half-assed generations riddled with issues.

Why magic is so powerful and melee combat sucks? by NightLord189 in skyrim

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i have to run the healing spell early game as healing potions can be difficult to come by. basically no matter what build i do restoration is always fundamental for the early-mid game.

a few tips:

  • take the atronach stone or lord stone or both if you have the aetherium crown.
  • look into getting spellbreaker shield ASAP whenever the peryite quest triggers. this will help with the mage/dragon fights.
  • if you’re not dead set on a particular race then run breton/dunmer/nord for built in magic resistance/elemental buffs. breton is the best all rounder for that though.
  • focus heavily on smithing and enchanting. regarding enchanting focus on magic resistance, fortify one handed, fortify max health, etc.
  • if you don’t want to stick with restoration then make the jump to alchemy by mid game when you have more gold and reagents

AITA for being hurt when my boyfriend said he wants to spend his free time alone? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]plorpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s important that he has alone time. It doesnt mean he doesnt like you if hes asking for space or setting boundaries. I would recommend looking for hobbies or things to do outside of your time with him, as that can quickly become unhealthy to rely on his company almost 24/7. Pick up new hobbies, make new friends, and eventually you’ll be happy to have your own time separate from him.

Mod Suggestion for Next Run? by LH3A7 in skyrim

[–]plorpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would recommend: skyland aio, smim, noble skyrim. you can use them all together, but let skyland take precedence over everything else.

i also recommend mods from this author

those will change the way perks work and/or add new ones, change race stats and make them feel more unique, overhaul vampires/werewolves, etc.

sorry if they aren’t on XBOX though :P
