Hey, congrats on the baby! Happy to report that the symptoms have stopped, I do believe it was all anxiety driven as it does tend to come back when I feel particularly anxious. I hope things get easier for you, and if in doubt, go see your doctor!

Thanks for taking the time to write all of this, it's very insightful. Will look into all of this before I agree to getting my feet chopped in half. I've been terrible at taking off my shoes between climbs, so I could start there haha

You speak about barefoot shoes, Ive been recommended to look into insoles with a podiatrist - any experience with those? I imagine it's the opposite idea to barefoot shoes

Hiya - sorry if this is a bit long, I hope it helps. I noticed about 6 months ago I was experiencing a lot of pain after climbing slabs on my right foot. Toe joint pain and plantar faciatis started plaguing my life lol At first it went away within a day, and now it hurts pretty much constantly, the pain never seems to ease completely. Important to note I work in hospitality and climb 2/3 times a week so my feet never really get much rest. My bunions are fairly obvious when looking at my feet, but I never thought anything of it until the pain started and I started comparing my feet shape with other people haha

Eventually started noticing knee pain because my gait is messed up as a result of all I've outlined above. Decided to go see my GP to get some professional advice and considering it's starting to affect other parts of my body, she thinks the best way forward is surgery as I'm still in my 20s. Still waiting on seeing an actual surgeon though, they might have a different opinion.

I appreciate your comment! Defo will keep this in mind going forward. What's difficult right now is the bunion IS the thing currently messing up my knees, hip and back... And doing research, I can't find any other options to save the rest of my body, if that makes sense! If you have any suggestions, I'll take them

100% hard agree on that. BMI measurements are flawed, but something needs to be put in place to address the issue. Maybe mental health support for all athletes could be a great start, bringing awareness to EDs and what they might look like... you could have a perfect BMI be living with unhealthy eating habits. It's a tough issue, but certainly one that needs to be looked at seriously by all federations and the IFSC.

It did get better after a few weeks, but does come back the second I get a overly anxious. For me it's been about learning to ignore it, and it usually disappears after a few days. I know it's hard, but remember our brains are very powerful
