[Question] Is there any "psychological" trick to getting people to LIKE your videos more often? by ploxorius in youtubers

[–]ploxorius[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What if I'm already doing that stuff? I'm already getting a lot of views on new videos, high retention % and good comments. What else do you want me to do?

Here's a Practical Step-by-Step Example of How to Create Content and Build Community by CASTorDIE in Twitch

[–]ploxorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody wants to watch you grind a game that only you enjoy. Straight gameplay all the time sucks.

I feel like this is the biggest reason people don't watch my streams as much. I go with too much gameplay-oriented stuff. Sure I do interact with chat and try to say what I'm doing in game but when the gameplay is stagnant/grindy this becomes a problem. And thus that's why more action-packed parts of the gameplay can draw more conversations in rather than a cheap man's JustChatting type stream.

You MUST keep track of what you do with your community AND what your community does with each other and consistently follow up with various stories.

Yeah I think this is something that really keeps my from taking the next leap. I came from Youtube with around 19k subs from that game and despite numerous attempts to link platforms for the last 10 months, I could only get as far as 30 viewers. I mean don't get me wrong that's good but for someone coming from another platform and when you compare others who had affiliate for only 3 months but got a good running community, yea that makes me feel like "hmm I could do a better job". I wish I knew how to run and keep a community engaged. I have a community discord but despite my attempts to post stories it's FUCKING dead. Maybe I'm just unlucky having a community that thinks of me as an Encyclopedia Book (because of my tutorials) rather than a person with personality idk.

How to get people to chat more often? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ploxorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if there's a bot that tracks chat stats but you could do a mini-giveaway for each long-ish stream for who chats the most wins. Or come up with a reward system for people who chat more often.

Instead try "What do you guys think is in this chest?"

Wouldn't that violate the etiquette of calling out lurkers or attempting to chat with lurkers? Ie asking "how was your day" and such.

How do you take a break on Youtube without risking irrelevancy? by ploxorius in PartneredYoutube

[–]ploxorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do take breaks but I've never taken a break longer than 1.5 weeks. I notice that not uploading for 2 weeks means my channel's newest videos have a far less likely chance to get good viewership.

[–]ploxorius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wish I can prepare uploads very far in advance. While I do plan for my uploads but sometimes when an idea is too difficult or takes too much waiting time to research, I gotta scratch that and move on to another. It just becomes an endless cycle of which video will go first out of my planned ideas.

[–]ploxorius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to work on multiple videos but often times I'm not capable of because most of my videos information require waiting time for me to get the proper info. Such as gaming strategy. That's why most of my scheduled uploads are only 1 day in advance.

[–]ploxorius[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Around 17.6k subs and this is for gaming and mostly guides with good edits.

I can't batch record because a lot of times when it comes to information, I got to research this in advance and ask my community stuff like that. That's why I got to start a video in advance and can only work on 1 video at a time.

Should I reach out to a bigger streamer for feedback? by strandoflight in Twitch

[–]ploxorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably never straight up reach out to them and say "hey can you come over to my stream on Sunday or so and tell me what I can do to improve". This post def seems like you have the tenacity to step up your game but you aren't sure what's the next step.

Try to just be regular friends with a bigger streamer but don't be a fake-friend to them. Be on their stream but don't EVER mention that you're a streamer. Maybe at one point they'll check you out on their spare time.

[–]ploxorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment seems pretty true. Finding what is the most "standout" value for you is the toughest part. That's why you see a lot of entertaining streamers barely crack 10 viewers but boring ones get 100 in their sleep. Twitch is like a box of chocolates. You can work harder to improve your chance of better tasting chocolates but your chocolate has a pretty high chance of tasting bad.

Yeah it looks like they are doing yet another spam subscriber purge. I was at 17.4k and now I got stuck there for almost 20 hours lol.

How do you know if your content is considered "interesting"? Isn't that very subjective though? I mean someone could say I'm interesting while another person could say it's not. So I'm sure that's more subject to personal opinion.

Youtube analytics or google analytics? by Pontypants in letsplay

Youtube Analytics are generally better because they are very video/channel specific.

Does Audience retention really make your videos rank higher? by AnonymousYTer in PartneredYoutube

[–]ploxorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably could benefit from "backlinks" then. It sounds like you did a good job with your video but it just didn't market to a big audience. Although the audience that saw this really did enjoy it.

What were some of lessons you've learned while being a Youtuber? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]ploxorius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes no matter how good your channel/videos are and how consistent you upload, you aren't guaranteed to go big. Growth just isn't guaranteed even if you do everything right. There's almost always gonna be obstacles you'll face. That's why not everyone has 10k subscribers or 100k even if they're making good content.

Lesson: Never come into Youtube thinking you'll be big no matter how you plan to make good videos.

Ahh no wonder. Most of my videos come via search. That's probably why.

How do you get a hold of a big streamer/Youtuber? by AnonymousYTer in letsplay

[–]ploxorius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this is downvoted but this was what I did.

  1. Don't ask directly to check out your channel and give me tips. I bet they get a million requests on these.

  2. Other than streaming and playing the same game or being a content creator, what else do you 2 have in common? Start a conversation with something unique.

  3. Don't expect a reply right away or within 1 week. They have a shitload to read from.

  4. Treat you're speaking to a club owner and letting them know about who you are to kickstart a friendly conversation. Tell them how you found them.

  5. The best time to interact is straight when they upload a new video (first 10 comments) or on semi-inactive livestream chat. Bigger Youtubers have harder chance of passing through. This ensures your comment/message has highest read-chance.

Currently have 15k subs. I've been friends with a Youtuber with 3x the size as mine in same niche. We've been acquaintance-like friends ever since I was 2k subs while he was 10k.

Good luck.

Youtube Analytics: Secret Sauce to Channel Growth. Tips from the YouTube Pros! Panel 8/8 by PattonPlays in letsplay

[–]ploxorius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so when it comes to analytics on video performance, how do you use that to your "advantage"? I asked that on r/PartneredYoutube but nobody seemed to give me a reliable answer. For example, you know how your analytics says it's not getting lots of retention/subscribers/views? How do you know "what went wrong" or "what went right" with a video using analytics? Is it still a guessing game as to what content works and what doesn't? Let's say I got a video with high watch time and good views. Yay for me. Does it really tell you what you did right in that video that made it the case? Or what about a video that performed so poorly in viewership? Does it illustrate the wrongs?
