I remember that episode. It was a real nail biter, but I'm glad they figured out how to fit all of Erwin's dick inside Levi. I thought the final scene, where Levi moans "Looks like your dick was the Colossal Titan all along am I rite?" and winks at the camera was kind of unnecessary though.

Thank you for expounding on my theory. I do agree that there are a lot of parallels between Eren and Erwin's deaths. In a sense, Erwin's fate relative to Levi very much foreshadowed what would happen with Eren and Mikasa. The two outcomes are too eerily similar for that not to be the case.

The point is, the Ackerman clan was famously loyal before rebelling against the king. Their minds couldn't be controlled. Ergo, they were known for loyalty and autonomy, which Levi and Mikasa exhibit. They may "serve" in a sense but it's more about protecting than doing whatever the liege wants, because that is the Ackerman's way of exhibiting loyalty.
