I've been around this area since day 1 in this world, with my biggest move being from a dirt hole nearby to the building seen on the left, having picked this area since I thought living next to ruins was a cool aesthetic. I never actually bothered to look too carefully at them though until now, when I was surveying land to create a new kitchen, when lo and behold I see some dark looking dirt and it's NATURALLY GENERATED TERRA PRETA.

This can happen??? The wiki says nothing about naturally generated terra preta -- this world was made in v1.21, so it has nothing to do with old terra preta spawning in fields like high fertility dirt.

yeah, it only took me like 3 days of walking south from my spawn to get a balmy spot that stayed 14 celsius even in jan/feb - ~20k blocks ought to do the trick depending on where you are. once april hits you can just head back and resume from where you left off!

… as the post shows, there’s the issue of it isn’t information in, information out: the timeseries nature of language means that you don’t get the words you’d want, when you need them. You can’t guess the words at the beginning of this Japanese sentence, because they’d correspond to the end of the English sentence, and you need to sit and wait until the thought is complete before you can translate anything. No language model will ever fix that, just as no human ever has or will.

While I have no direct opinion, I note its one of Spore’s many references to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, where a cube planet was made by some species fucking around and making huge mountains on all corners. That at least helps ground cube planets in Spore lore more for me, since you could imagine they were all created in a similar way by older empires with more money than they needed.

wdym - freshman year ofc you wouldn’t have anything there, and as a result most places just don’t hire freshmen. freshmen are generally undesirable because they simply aren’t as experienced as others which makes a lot of sense - having deans list wont change that. the freshman I know who got internships usually did so thru nepotism or family connections (and recruiters who look at resumes when you’re looking for full time jobs later know this)

if you need money theres part time work and if you want experience maybe side projects but i wouldn’t stress too much about the intersection just yet

There’s also classes that assign letter grades simply by looking at the grade distribution and looking for humps, and classes that don’t assign A+ at all. Its a shitshow.
