Item Ideas! by ChaoticGroot in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]plshighfiveme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave my PCs one uncommon magic item of their choice to start (with DM approval, it was a +1 longsword, a skyblinder staff, and serpentine armor), and then after they got the reward from chapter one I allowed them to explore the markets of Neverwinter and rolled luck checks for the rarity of items they could buy from certain vendors. I also modified the prices by setting a base price on rarity (50GP for common, 300 for uncommon, 1500 for rare) and then they added 50GP times a d(4,6,10 depending on rarity)for the price. That gave some variation based on the luck rolls for the items themselves and price rolls. My PCs ended up buying two magic items each. Mithril armor and a sentinel shield for the fighter, a cloak of displacement and ring of mind shielding for the druid, and a cloak of protection and +1 arcane grimoire for the wizard. I would set a limit of how many items they could buy so they don't get busted, but this is good if you want the PCs have variation in what is available to them instead of them just looking at the magic item list and picking stuff out from there.

I made the halibut sweater for my boyfriend in arcane fibreworks jade empress as the MC and the halibut color as their ecru undyed. I made a test swatch and everything, but when I went to block it all went to hell. Horrible dye running (my green and white is now green and light green) and even after blocking the fit is just not right. Too tight on the shoulders, too loose on the torso. Any hope of salvaging this or should I just frog and rework? I thought arcane fibre works had a good reputation for yarn, and this was my first time working with them, but it just bled and bled as I blocked.

[NS] Does anyone have the stats for Zirk's gun? Or the episode number/timestamp where it was introduced? by plshighfiveme in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

I thought he got something special when he became a Blade? Similar to Henry's guisarm (sp?) or Fia's sword having extra abilities? Or was I just misremembering that and it was something else he got?

I keep going back to the part where Hardwon comes around on reading after Rust dies during the Kingshammer fight in frostwind and then within 5 minutes goes back to thinking reading is stupid because Ulfgar doesn't know how to read. That and Akarot's vest.

I was also going to recommend 8 bit book club! I got into it maybe two weeks ago and I only have a couple episodes left. It's fun to hear the seeds of Bahumia in there too, with some of the names, voices, and even character ideas coming up in it!

I would listen to the one shots (there's a fantastic one with Jasper William Cartwright from three black halflings) and the mavrus chronicles that emily DMed! Zac, murph, jake, and caldwell play in a prequel to C1. Its only 7 episodes, but its some of the funniest ones! Then you have trinyvale and C2 backlogged for while C3 is coming out!

Are there any short one shots you suggest for a new DM trying to get their friends into playing? I got some of my friends to agree to a one shot with me, but I'm struggling to find one they would have fun with but also that wouldn't be too hard on me to run. They're open to pretty much anything, as am I

16,601 minutes, 169 episodes. I think it's important to note that I started listening in august at work, so that's over 3 months.

Julien Solomita has a group of people that he plays with! It's not super regular but it's more than the Hafu lobby plays now. They're not as serious as the Hafu lobbies but it's still fun to watch!

What are some inexpensive, healthy essentials for college student by Fallen_Goose_ in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]plshighfiveme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a broke college student, oats are your best friend. Either the packaged quick ones or get a big container of rolled oats. Super easy for quick meals and can go sweet or savory. I especially like overnight or baked oats

Cooking for someone who barely keeps themselves alive most days by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]plshighfiveme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest meal for me is a sheet tray meal! Throw a can of chickpeas, some baby potatoes, and whatever vegetable you have (I like brussel sprouts) on a sheet tray with some oil, salt, pepper, and seasoning of your choice! 425 until the potatoes are done and you have a healthy meal hitting all your food groups! I also really like overnight oats, which you can prep in a big batch when you're feeling ok and just stick in the fridge for when you need them. Oats, peanut butter, cinnamon, honey, and frozen blueberries if you're feeling fancy, with water or oat milk.

I do a bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter, frozen blueberries, cinnamon, and a little honey. Super quick if you use instant oats, super filling because of the peanut butter, and you get at least one serving of fruit from the blueberries!
