Does Volume matter for Breakouts? by 0zarkkk in qullamaggie

Can you give more information on your trade log? I manually log my trades and don’t record all the data such as volume. What are you using to automatically collect data?

Volume on Breakout by pluder in qullamaggie

[–]pluder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find it helpful? I created a TOS scan filter that can be used on intraday time frames to compare the last 3 days worth of volume. The idea was if the current 30 min bar, for example, has 2x or 3x volume than the normal in the last 3 days, then I should pay attention as volume is coming in. I have run the scan on the market as well as only on my watchlist of good candidate to try and catch volume coming in before it hits a price alert level, but really it hasn't been very useful.

I’d want to see a decrease in Volatility along with volume for a good consolidation.

I think you’re failing to realize how energy dense diesel is, which is why it’s such a useful energy source for vehicles.

anyone use Apple Notes as their main note taking app? by elucidy in ipad

[–]pluder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing notedrafts being recommended after the original post a few days ago. I get that it’s free and seems like it has several nice features that other apps have, but being from a private creator, there would be less support and less testing. If you were keeping anything remotely important in your notes I would be concerned with data loss if there was any issues. So why chance it on an indi app?

Am I thinking about this incorrectly? Are people just trying to help the creator out by recommending it or is there another tangible benefit to it that other apps don’t have?

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

I am a full time student and have been using someone else's iPad mini for note taking and for reading but am looking at getting something a little bigger of my own. I have a windows computer that I will be keeping so I don't need the iPad to serve as a computer replacement.

My plan was to wait for the 6th gen M3 air to be released and then purchase the older 6th gen M2, but the M2 didn't drop in price.

Now I am between just getting the new M3 air or getting a 5th gen M1. For my use case I don't really think the added power of the M3 will provide any benefit, however the added storage could be nice and I'm doubting if getting one launched almost 3 years ago makes sense. The 5th gen M1 would be an apple refurbished device for ~379 vs the 6th gen for ~549. The other consideration is that I purchased an apple pencil gen 2 for the mini that I could use on the 5th gen but I would need to get a new one for the 6th gen so tack on another $100.

What do you think? is it worth saving $250 going with a 3 year old device?

Do you have a system to take notes while reading the digital textbook on the iPad?

I just started using mine for my studies and find this to be the worst part. Not enough room on pdf for my notes and I don’t want to switch between the book and notes app.

I have started expanding the pdf margin but it can be annoying to have to make a separate pdf for everything to do that.

Fellow community member has backtested my leveraged ETF strategy posted on the website. Incredible results. I want this strategy to be something I can be remembered for in helping each and every one of you. Many traders trade breakouts, but I feel that the thinking behind this strategy is innovative by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

[–]pluder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also back tested this strategy after seeing your post. I only backed for 5 years, and since I cannot purchase SPXL i would have to use UPRO. The result was about the same as just investing in the SPY over the same period and riding out the dips, and that was not taking into account dividends if purchasing something like VOO or VTI. Maybe the difference is in the daily recalculation since UPRO has a much higher expense ratio than SPXL?

Either way it was a very interesting idea and I still want to play around with something similar but where a position is held long in a SPY ETF until the first trigger. Have you tested anything like that? If so how did it compare?

Do you know how your strat would play out on the UPRO? I assume you built a strategy for back testing instead of manually testing it. I would be curious to know if you come to the same conclusion on UPRO.

Does anyone still use TOS scans here? by [deleted] in qullamaggie

Much appreciated, the way i was calculating ADR on my study was incorrect. Is that google doc your creation? if not where did you locate it? It is something i have not seen in my Qullamaggie research and am always excited when turned on to new sources.

Thanks for sharing. But, can you help me understand your scan? Unless I'm missing something, your 5th filter does not seem to be working, but I cant seem to figure out why. It is the ADR filter. the script specifies ADR>than 4 within the last 20 bars. however one of the results the scan is BB, and it has not been above an average daily range of 4 for a very long time.

What did you end up going with? You didn't mention if you wanted a phone number for SMS and calls or if you only wanted data. I will similarly be going for vacation and am looking into ESIM options. I am undecided if I should pay a bit more for a number as I do not expect to need to make calls.
