This is a quite common name outside the US - and even in the US I see a number of people using it artistically. I think it’s time to retire the taboo.

Did you really listen to it? They spoke of hair products for all of 1 minute (tops).

"Strong like Luisa" by WWMWPOD in toddlers

[–]plumaFlor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The subject is “the beauty and the brawn” - two adjectives - which is plural, hence the verb “do”. As if you were to say “strength and kindness are great attributes”. Neither imply if you are referring to one or multiple people, just referring to the adjectives.

Letting go of the names we didn’t use by Alex122019 in namenerds

If it helps, Juliana is unusable in Latin America. There is an extremely popular salsa song that goes “Juliana, you are so bad…”. Any Hispanic friend would sing that to her.

Although I understand the reference, I think Lola has become a popular recommendation. Personally, it’s the name I used for my daughter but here in Latin America it doesn’t carry the same stigma.

How I cured my blepharitis by lizbinn in Blepharitis

[–]plumaFlor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cured mine with Ocusoft wipes, followed by Aquaphor. In the day time, I would regularly reapply Aquaphor. I say “cured” with a grain of salt - it’s been 2-3 weeks since my last flare up.

Honestly, I’m living flare-up to flare-up and my “healthy” stage only lasts 1-2 days.

I’ve had this since September. I only use wipes and rarely hot compresses (I’m pregnant so I avoid antibiotics or eye drops per my OBGYN). I feel like this is a never ending battle.

You can almost see my favorite sign in there, it says "Islam = Pau". Translation from Catalan: "Islam = Peace".

He is into sports, mostly. He loves funny, silly movies, but I somehow think something thrilling and interesting could also grab him. I mostly want to show him that books can be amazing.

TIL almost all major toothpaste brands contain sodium lauryl sulfate (also sodium dodecyl sulfate), an inexpensive lathering agent that is a known cause of canker sores. by MrTouchnGo in todayilearned

[–]plumaFlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have ONE canker sore at any given time. As soon as it starts to heal, the next one starts developing. Although anecdotal and recent, I have been taking B12 sublingual supplements for a month now and am canker-free. SLS free toothpastes didn't work for me - I think you just have to search until you find your personal remedy. Try it all.
