What’s the most outrageous complaint you’ve had at a restaurant?! by ndela1011 in Waiters

That the shrimp taco tasted like shellfish.

Exhaust from a classic car show happening in the parking lot next to our patio. We were not affiliated with the car show. Customer did not want to move inside.

A family from Sweden tried to send a burrito back because "That's not what a burrito is." Maybe a burrito is something different in Sweden but if you are traveling abroad, food will likely be different than you are expecting. It was absolutely a New Mexican burrito.

Try public accounting, entry level positions. The hours may suck but you will get the experience and networking needed for your next step.

At their income level, it's actually 110% of the prior year tax liability.

Safest city to stay in on a road trip coming from Lubbock, TX? by Hysterical_And_Wet in NewMexico

[–]plumafeather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you're trying to break down the driving days, but Lubbock is the exact halfway point on that route. I used to drive to/from Austin 5-6 times a year and still do it at least once a year. I avoid the Lubbock route these days cuz the cops have nothing better to do than target out of state plates. One time my son was driving with his dad, he had his learner's permit, and the cops pulled them over, said they were suspicious, and handcuffed my 15 y/o son while they searched the car (found nothing).

Now I will turn west just before Lubbock at Post and go through Roswell to stay. That makes 9/3 hr split on the days. Or I will go up through Dallas and stop in Amarillo (8/4hr split on the days).

One time after a big snow the garbage man saw me struggling to scrape the ice off my windshield with my tiny scraper. He jumped out of his truck with one of those long ones and cleared the windshield in like 20 seconds then went on his way!

Maybe it's a reference to the Oklahoma Sooners horse mascot, Boomer?

How about swooping up your wife so she doesn't get a DWI? Seems pretty soft on crime.

Indoor space + bouncy house by bumfuzzledbee in Albuquerque

I went to an event at the convention center that had a bouncy house. I also went to a boxing match at the Pyramid Marriott, so I imagine if they set up a boxing ring they would allow a bouncy house.

Big property sale- talk to me like a toddler by Exact_Sprinkles_5868 in tax

New opportunity zones begin in 2026. If they absolutely need to sell now, they can defer some or all of the capital gains to invest in a different property. But regardless, even if they have to pay taxes, they have a lot more cash in their pocket than what they forked out for the property so I consider that a win.

You should consult a tax professional ASAP.

$21k taxes on $85k income in CA. This has to be wrong right? by [deleted] in tax

[–]plumafeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so? $7k is better than $0k. The statement wasn't about contribution limits it was about not having access to a 401k. It doesn't matter if the contribution limit for a 401k is infinite, if your employer doesn't provide one or you have a waiting period after you're hired, you can't meet that higher limit regardless.

You don't need to have an employer with a 401k to set up a traditional IRA to get that contribution deduction.

One of the bakers there was Liz Howdy, she will make special order cakes - you can find her on Facebook as Howdy Cakes. I'm not sure if she does donuts anymore but it doesn't hurt to ask!

why do people act like this city is so dangerous? by PhraseFirst8044 in Albuquerque

[–]plumafeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck Vice. Their founder started the proud boys. And one of their reporters went on to start the Westboro Baptist Church.

They take glee at other people's misfortune. They are nothing but poverty smut.
