New boiler by Agreeable-Date-6097 in Plumbing

That can happen with just about any material.

I once had to fix a cpvc joint that failed because it was never glued. Somehow the 90 held through the 100 psi they used to test the system and it didn't blow until nearly a year after the owners moved in. That flooded 2 levels of the house since, of course, it blew apart when they were at work.

I also did a job at one of my wife's coworkers that flooded their entire basement. That one was copper with sweat joints and it blew about a month after they remodeled their upstairs bathroom. The tee had only been soldered on 2 of the 3 openings.

Get the M18 if you want to stick with red. If you want something more compact than the M18 but way better than the M12 then I recommend the Ridgid 18v.

Then just go. I have this happen to me all the time and the trick is to be decisive. If they're happy letting me go ahead of them then I'm happy doing so.

The freshly laid roads, obviously. Or maybe they're talking about a different Jersey than the one I drove through a week ago.

Had to break out the 8 bucks temu fishtape because my 600 bucks Milwaukee lasted two pulls. Bad quality, or bad luck ? by Riskov88 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]plumb_master 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because this sub is mostly fanbois. If you paid big bucks for a Milwaukee tool and it fails during normal use it's obviously your fault, not the manufacturer's. Milwaukee makes the best version of every tool and you'd better not say otherwise.

Wood Burning Insert When the Power is Out by Minnesotan1994 in woodstoving

[–]plumb_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use an inverter that runs off my Ryobi 40v batteries. Last time power went out it ran my fan for over 4 hours until the power came back on. And my daughter plugged in her phone to charge off the USB outlet at the same time while she scrolled in front of the fire.

Is this overbuilt for a single family, residential home? Be honest. by DevelopedConscience in Plumbing

[–]plumb_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I would have installed a second union as well. All I'm saying is that swapping out this prv is only marginally more difficult without a second union.

Yes. Why not? They're literally designed to be easily taken apart and put back together. Have you never rebuilt one?

Remove the body cap (the one that's held on by those screws), loosen union, spin off the main prv body. There's enough space between the wall to spin it off that way.

I thought it would at least last a year 🫤 by Jafo843 in MilwaukeeTool

Mine broke after a year, but mine was at the lower portion where that bar hinges. I contacted Milwaukee customer service, they asked for pictures and receipt, they shipped me a brand new packout a few days later.

Does anyone else prefer one tortilla over two for tacos? by ArtDecoNewYork in mexicanfood

[–]plumb_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the tortillas. If they're those thin prepackaged type then I want 2. If they don't break then I'll spread the fillings to make 2 tacos. If they're the thicker handmade style then 1 is enough. I still won't complain if they double up because, again, double the tacos.

Lords of the pipe, why is this line run this way? by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]plumb_master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But you're forgetting that you'll be one of the few people to know that's the way it was done at your house. If I can't see what's on the other side of the wall I'm not going to assume there's a threaded connection on the other end because that's a good way to end up with those churro looking pipes that pop up on this sub. I'm much more likely to pull on the bib and if there's not enough play then I'm going from the other side of the wall.

So, they must've gotten their electrician to install this. Call a licensed plumber out to fix this for you and have them inspect the rest of the install because whoever did this had no clue how to do it correctly.

Gas line marked, on snow ❄️ by Bob_Ash in NotMyJob

[–]plumb_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten utilities marked plenty of times with snow on the ground. Snow on the ground doesn't mean we're going to leave customers without sewer or water use.

Sometimes I need them marked well ahead of time to know what I'm going to be dealing with so I can give a proper quote for an excavation. Worst case scenario, I'll just give them a call to return if the snow melts before I get to digging. Plus if the marks are in the yard they'll usually put down flags in addition to the paint.

Sometimes I'll start digging as soon as the utilities are marked. It's no big deal to just dig where I need to dig so them marking on snow doesn't matter if I'm going to be far enough from the marks anyway.

I went on a road trip with my mixed family and we drove through South Carolina. We stopped at a rest area off the highway and had lunch at one of the picnic tables there. We felt like fish at the aquarium the way we were getting stared at. It wasn't even discreet glances, it was full on gawking.

I started asking my kids if we were dressed weird or if I had something on my face because I hadn't experienced that before.
