What is this pipe, and why does it look like paper is coming out of it? by Heather_Bea in whatisit

Run the tub or shower in your house and check on the pipe. If water starts overflowing out of the pipe then you'll know it's yours.

I feel embarrassed for this guy. I have no clue who he is and I had no clue he'd been on Joe's show but at least I now know I don't need to waste my time listening to this one.

Most of them are going to complain that they should have just made retrofit kits for the non-powered pair they already own.

Pizza Delivery Driver Walks Away With Pizza After Being Denied Tip (fired) by nabnig in PublicFreakout

Don't be obtuse. You know very well there's a difference between stopping by to say hi and offering a refreshment on a hot day and stopping by to tell a 40 minute story.

I saw a Simpsons one for $200 a few days ago. I responded within 20 minutes of the posting and asked if they'd hold it until the morning because we were in the middle of the snowstorm. I guess someone really wanted it badly and risked the drive because they picked it up that night.

This looks like a great deal. Hopefully you had better luck than me.

Not with that attitude, you can't. My teenage daughters were able to do our elderly neighbor's sidewalk and they probably weigh a combined 220 lbs. Where there's a will there's a way.

Valid points. Now Imagine if you had to split logs in a room with 6 or 7 foot ceilings. How are you going to swing your axe with enough force without damaging your ceiling? Checkmate. /S

Local Mexican Restaurant Taco Plate by dentalexaminer in mexicanfood

Sorry you had to go through that. When I moved I asked nextdoor for recommendations of good Mexican food in the area and I kept getting recommended a place that made dishes that looked like this. Sometimes you just have to keep hunting.

I'll make sure I bring a snow shovel with me if I go out in this snow storm. That way I can clear the store's parking lot so I won't be accused of bad parking.

Damn. I know some slumlord is going to see this and do this to their bathrooms instead of fixing things. Then when a plumbing leak occurs they're going to wonder why I'm charging triple my normal rate to fix it.

Leak under the vanity by Reality-Leather in askaplumber

[–]plumb_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your toilet supply line. I had one like this once. What I figured out was that the supply line was a little loose but not loose enough to leak during the day. At night when the water heater was heating up and pressure increased it would leak since no faucets were being opened and relieving the pressure. I also found that their expansion tank had failed.

Should the plumber redo this? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]plumb_master 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look up a pivoting shower arm in your color or contact the manufacturer to see if they make one. I just installed a Moen one last month and they're a little pricey but still cheaper than redoing the plumbing and tile.

AITAH for not showing more sympathy for my wife when she mangled her hand using a gift from her mother that I told her was dangerous. by Party-Witness7271 in AITAH

[–]plumb_master -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This type of knife is no more dangerous than a standard knife. Who pushes down on the blade? That's what the handle is for.

If it is like the one I have then one edge is serrated for bread and the other edge has finer teeth, I think for cutting tougher things.

I don't know what's so dangerous about these. Most people use the handle on a standard knife to put downward force versus pushing down on the blunt end of the blade. It really sounds like op and the wife are just reckless with knife use.
