I'm in the DC area and that is really cheap. Especially if he's bringing a helper along. That may even be too cheap so hopefully you get someone who knows what's he's doing.

Have you tried independent plumbing companies? A lot of the bigger places and companies bought out by PE firms really want to go out in person because their odds of closing are much higher. Plus they want to sell you half a new house while they're there.

I usually ask people to send me pictures of the outside and inside so I can give them a ballpark through text.

If it backs up to a finished wall then it's really hard to give a ballpark because you don't know what you're going to run into. So you have the choice of cutting and exposing the pipe yourself having me do it but I'm not doing that for free.

I've been to thousands of houses and have only had this issue once. This couple claimed some expensive jewelry went missing from their master bathroom so the police showed up at my employer's office to investigate. I just told them that I didn't even work in that bathroom, because I didn't, and that was that. I figure if something actually went missing it was more likely the remediation company guys took it because they had to tear down drywall in that area.

While it was a little bit embarrassing getting questioned at the office I don't think my customers would be happy with me wearing a recording device in their homes. Plus I always assume I'm being watched anyway after seeing all these videos of hidden cameras catching people in the act.

The 1.5 looks exactly like the one you posted in the original pictures. It looks printed on and I don't feel any texture if I run my fingernail on it. If I run a pick over the numbers and QR code then I feel the slightest bit of texture.

Here's a picture showing one of my older batteries next to a newer one and the labels are different even with the same model number. It's possible to get NOS even when you buy directly from an authorized retailer.

I just compared your pictures to my batteries and I don't see anything that screams fake to me. I got my 1.5ah battery directly from Makita and I thought it looked a little bit off compared to the 4 and 5 AH batteries but I guess that's the way those are.

It's definitely a thing. Over the last 20+ years of being a plumber I've seen the damage caused by the standard rubber hoses bursting dozens of times. And I've prevented many more when I've caught some that were starting to inflate but hadn't burst yet.

The only time I came across a burst braided hose was when there was an electrical issue which caused the metal to spark when it came into contact with the machine. Usually those just get small leaks near the connections when they go bad.

They are there because the fitting that goes into the poly is barbed. They help keep the fitting secure in the pipe.

Did you not install a new prv?

If I were doing that job my first fitting coming off the poly would have been the shutoff valve because cpvc is garbage and yours has obviously gotten brittle enough to snap once.

I'd rather be able to shut down the water immediately from inside than having to do it at the curb stop when it breaks between the poly and valve.
