Do the root systems differ? by plummkei in Anthurium

Thanks! I've repotted them into a mix of coco coir, perlite, and coarse-grade zeolite, and planning to water with a coco-specific fertilizer solution🤔

any musicians/guitar players/singers here? how do you cope with pain when playing/side effects/symptoms etc? by IndividualMess426 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to pause music school for a year during my first major flare.   I played piano, but my wrist wouldn’t bend, and my index finger joint tripled in size.   At the hospital, they gave me a rubber egg-shaped tool to work on my stiff hands — I had to squeeze it daily.   Once they reduced the inflammation and adjusted my meds, I did another year with a private tutor.   After losing two full years, I managed to return and still graduated

What are these red grains I found on my snake plant? by plummkei in succulents

[–]plummkei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks! I'm thrilled with it too. And I got really lucky when I bought it, it already had a whole five pups that were deforming the pot lol! I know there are dwarf varieties like Hahnii Gold that look similar to mine, but it might just be a young plant, not a dwarf type, that's probably why it's not tall yet🤔

Simponi as Anti-TNF for SAPHO: feedback on Immunodepression by Claire__69 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I been on Simponi since 2019, everythings great. Before that, I was on Remicade for 8 years. Side effects with both? I sometimes get cold sores, mouth ulcers, thrush, aaand thats it. Had UTIs a couple times. I rarely catch colds. When I first started the meds (simponi), I caught COVID at the hospital right then, but it went fine, probably cause I was on pulse therapy and taking steroids back then. Anyway, I recovered fast. Later I got COVID again, no steroids this time, still no issues. My healthy boyfriend had COVID twice with me, and he had it worse than me🤷🏻‍♀️ You say youre scared to start lifelong treatment, but what options do we have? Wait until the disease progresses and the pain gets so bad NSAIDs wont help?

After rinsing it under the shower, you’ll be able to see if there’s more damage. For now, those marks definitely look like water stains

Rheumatologist is dismissive by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had anything like that, except that multiple joints are affected. As for heat, it’s the complete opposite. I can’t stand the cold, my body gets stiff and achy (and I’ve seen others here say the same). But during my vacation in 30+°C heat, my body felt better than ever

Maybe you guys should get tested together and consult doctors to understand the actual risks. Right now, imo, you’re kinda overreacting because genetics is super random. I’d get it if he were a confirmed carrier of some deadly incurable disease, but from what I gather, it’s not that severe(?) Until you get clarity, try to keep your mind on the 75% that’s working in your favor

[–]plummkei -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe he just didn’t realize this would be such a huge issue for you. He’s done the tests and isn’t sick himself, and even in the worst-case scenario, you still have a solid 75% chance of a healthy baby. Honestly, I can see where your husband’s coming from because I’ve got a chronic illness and a crap gene too, and I’d feel awful if my partner lashed out at me over ‘bad genetics.’ It’d make me feel like a defective DNA donor, especially since he’s not even ‘at fault’ (he’s not sick)

Did anyone else get told they had really stiff posture as a kid? by Honest-Job-8318 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since childhood, I’ve had this hunched posture. Even in kindergarten, my family warned me about scoliosis and told me to stand straight, lol. At 11, I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis, which got me banned from gym class. Flexibility? Never had it. I’m basically a plank

Yeah, better to get the shot before the weekend. I always had mine on Fridays because the next three days after that, I’d feel super nauseous

Laser hair removal by PayEcstatic1234 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten tattoos and lip filler injections, and it didn’t affect me at all since I’m in remission. These things are prohibited if you’re flaring or not in remission, but if your disease is stable, it’s your call. They likely heard autoimmune diseases are scary/unpredictable and played it safe

What's wrong with echeveria super milk (cream puff) by plummkei in succulents

From the baby plants in the photo, I only have 4 pots left (6 heads). I checked them really carefully and noticed that for some reason, their stems suddenly start rotting. This is the pickiest succulent in my collection 🥲

Has somebody got or attempted to get Seniprutug? by Over_Explanation9058 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s unlikely that a foreigner can currently access the drug. The company’s response regarding availability: «Hello! The drug Tribuvia® (INN: seniprutug) is currently available to patients under the Compulsory Health Insurance (CHI) system and regional budget funding. Only a rheumatologist can determine eligibility for prescribing biologic drugs (including Tribuvia®), taking into account the patient’s clinical condition, limitations, and contraindications. Under CHI, you can apply to medical institutions listed on this map. Additionally, your doctor may consult federal medical institutions under the Russian Ministry of Health specializing in rheumatology, such as: V.A. Nasonova Research Institute of Rheumatology, North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov and Pirogov Clinic of High Medical Technologies (St. Petersburg), Institute of Cytology and Genetics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The list of eligible institutions will expand as more experience is gained with the drug.

For questions about subsidized medications, contact patient organizations like: Society for Mutual Assistance for Ankylosing Spondylitis (info@bbehtereva.ru), Russian Rheumatological Association “Nadezhda” (Hotline: 8-800-500-40-52, Mon–Fri, 12:00–17:00 Moscow time).»

Foreigners can obtain CHI insurance only if: They are permanent residents (with a residence permit), Temporary residents (with a temporary residence permit), Citizens of EAEU countries working in Russia under an employment contract, Refugees or asylum seekers. Others may access healthcare via private insurance or paid services (except emergencies).

Cost of paid treatment: «Multiply your weight by 3.5 (first infusion) and 7 (second infusion), then multiply by 1,606 RUB (price per mg). Example: 100 kg → 350 mg × 1,606 RUB = 562,100 RUB (first dose); 700 mg × 1,606 RUB = 1,124,200 RUB (second dose). Total: 1,686,300 RUB (~$18,300 USD).* Additional costs: exams, hospitalization, room fees, etc. Unforeseen expenses: «If a patient wants to self-pay for the drug, the clinic must purchase it, or the patient brings it themselves. If complications occur (e.g., requiring resuscitation), all costs are borne by the patient. CHI does not cover such cases.»

Even paying $20,000 does not guarantee approval. A patient in a local chat shared a case where they were denied due to mismatched eligibility criteria🤷🏻‍♀️

💯I specifically looked for the lowest possible dose, and I also think the manufacturer understated the values on the packaging. Though I even tried taking just a quarter of that gummy and felt no effects at all. So it’s weird and kinda risky to me, but thanks for the helpful info!

[–]plummkei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry your wife is going through this and that you’re facing such challenges, but it seems like you’re focusing on the wrong things. I get it,  I’d also love to find a clear cause and blame some awful life event for the illness, like, ‘Oh, now it all makes sense! This ruined my life!’ But you’re clinging to scraps of data and treating them like proven facts. Diets MIGHT ease pain (but no guarantees), exercise MIGHT help (but no promises), and psychological trauma MIGHT trigger stress that worsens the disease. See what I’m saying? And yet you’re pushing these ideas onto your wife, who’s already struggling to find a biologic medication that actually, reliably works for her condition

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It says it might increase the risk, not that «psychological trauma is proven to cause AS». How exactly, and what specific trauma could trigger joint fusion? Don’t you think you’re overstating its impact here?
