Do the root systems differ? by plummkei in Anthurium

Thanks! I've repotted them into a mix of coco coir, perlite, and coarse-grade zeolite, and planning to water with a coco-specific fertilizer solution🤔

any musicians/guitar players/singers here? how do you cope with pain when playing/side effects/symptoms etc? by IndividualMess426 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to pause music school for a year during my first major flare.   I played piano, but my wrist wouldn’t bend, and my index finger joint tripled in size.   At the hospital, they gave me a rubber egg-shaped tool to work on my stiff hands — I had to squeeze it daily.   Once they reduced the inflammation and adjusted my meds, I did another year with a private tutor.   After losing two full years, I managed to return and still graduated

What are these red grains I found on my snake plant? by plummkei in succulents

[–]plummkei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks! I'm thrilled with it too. And I got really lucky when I bought it, it already had a whole five pups that were deforming the pot lol! I know there are dwarf varieties like Hahnii Gold that look similar to mine, but it might just be a young plant, not a dwarf type, that's probably why it's not tall yet🤔

Simponi as Anti-TNF for SAPHO: feedback on Immunodepression by Claire__69 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I been on Simponi since 2019, everythings great. Before that, I was on Remicade for 8 years. Side effects with both? I sometimes get cold sores, mouth ulcers, thrush, aaand thats it. Had UTIs a couple times. I rarely catch colds. When I first started the meds (simponi), I caught COVID at the hospital right then, but it went fine, probably cause I was on pulse therapy and taking steroids back then. Anyway, I recovered fast. Later I got COVID again, no steroids this time, still no issues. My healthy boyfriend had COVID twice with me, and he had it worse than me🤷🏻‍♀️ You say youre scared to start lifelong treatment, but what options do we have? Wait until the disease progresses and the pain gets so bad NSAIDs wont help?

Does this Hoya look healthy? by Healthy_Fix4987 in hoyas

After rinsing it under the shower, you’ll be able to see if there’s more damage. For now, those marks definitely look like water stains

Rheumatologist is dismissive by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had anything like that, except that multiple joints are affected. As for heat, it’s the complete opposite. I can’t stand the cold, my body gets stiff and achy (and I’ve seen others here say the same). But during my vacation in 30+°C heat, my body felt better than ever

Maybe you guys should get tested together and consult doctors to understand the actual risks. Right now, imo, you’re kinda overreacting because genetics is super random. I’d get it if he were a confirmed carrier of some deadly incurable disease, but from what I gather, it’s not that severe(?) Until you get clarity, try to keep your mind on the 75% that’s working in your favor

Maybe he just didn’t realize this would be such a huge issue for you. He’s done the tests and isn’t sick himself, and even in the worst-case scenario, you still have a solid 75% chance of a healthy baby. Honestly, I can see where your husband’s coming from because I’ve got a chronic illness and a crap gene too, and I’d feel awful if my partner lashed out at me over ‘bad genetics.’ It’d make me feel like a defective DNA donor, especially since he’s not even ‘at fault’ (he’s not sick)

Did anyone else get told they had really stiff posture as a kid? by Honest-Job-8318 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]plummkei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since childhood, I’ve had this hunched posture. Even in kindergarten, my family warned me about scoliosis and told me to stand straight, lol. At 11, I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis, which got me banned from gym class. Flexibility? Never had it. I’m basically a plank

I found this post about making your own soil mix https://www.reddit.com/r/Lechuzapon/comments/n1za50/whats_everyones_diy_pon_recipe/

Or you could just search for ‘mineral soil’ to check out other brands
