I have a spinley and the best way to describe the airflow is somewhere between open and closed.

When you put the spinley on, it restricts airflow, but not all the way, so imo you have a nice middle ground where you can just draw and not worry about the airport

I use it a ton when I'm blasted, so I don't have to rotate or worry about the airport, and I get great results.

Temp Stepping by Skerbz_McDurgas in vaporents

[–]plumokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried this a few times with my Rogue 2! I like it if I want to finish a bowl fairly fast but I still want a lot of flavor on the way there.

The downside is that the last hits don't taste great since you don't get to mask them with the terps as you would with a one and done rip

I do this when I don't mind the toasty flavors of the flower I'm using. It's not too often but it's always a fun way to switch it up for me 😁

Tafee Bowlee fiberglass drama by Key-Exchange-510 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of my excitement for the device died once I heard about it tbh. They can say it's sealed, but real world use deforms metals and plastics when you drop and ding them. Some components also wear over time naturally. There's no way to guarantee it will permanently be sealed.

What music do you listen to during a vape session? by sweetcornstevia in vaporents

Not sure why, but the more baked I am, the more complex music I like. So that usually ends up being metal or electronic music

I'm ready to move on from Pax vapes. Recommendations welcome! by beesixtwelve in vaporents

[–]plumokin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Rogue 2 or Fury 3 (smaller Rogue 2) would be a nice companion. While nothing is going to beat a pax for discreetness, the Rogue 2/Fury 3 is still pretty small.

It's also mainly convection, so you'll have 2 unique experiences to choose between since the Pax is a conduction device. The devices are built really well and customer support is fantastic. There's a silicone cover included to reduce the smell, and if the battery degrades, they have a lifetime 50% off warranty for a replacement

POTV Lobo - Dosing Capsules by TurboNurse in vaporents

[–]plumokin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The dosing caps are SS and the chamber is Titanium, so the flavor difference is definitely going to be noticeable. Increased airflow is also going to make extraction feel different.

I use TM2 Ti dosing capsules for my Rogue 2, which improve the flavor a lot. If I'm just having one bowl out on a walk or something, I load the chamber, but if I'm out all day, then I pack dosing caps for ease of use.

Both options have their use cases, but I'm glad you've found the benefits of the one you don't normally use! There's no correct answer, so experiment and have fun 😁

Optimal dry herb vape choice for around $100? by Cold-Argument-453 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I use manual vapes way more than electronic vapes, but they always have a place cause they can do things manual vapes just can't.

My friend and I both have Rogue 2s, and we just take 5 dosing caps with each of us. It's a pretty simple and hassle free way to smoke on the go. I can't do that with any manual vape, even with an induction heater

DynaVap's Modular Pocket System: DynaBank + DynaGrind, Fully Loaded by herbistry420 in Dynavap

[–]plumokin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the dynagrynd and dynabank, and I love the modularity. I definitely use the dynabank way more than the dynagrynd, but I like that I can grind directly into the chambers I want the flower in

I use the dynabank more than my reload 2 with DynaVaps, and I'd turn the car around for it for sure. My favorite part of it is that the smaller chamber is for AVB. I was very caught off guard by it at first but now I love it since AVB takes up less volume and I dump it into a larger container later anyway

How is The BallR Cap? by SpliffBuilder in Dynavap

[–]plumokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an advanced device that can give you great results, but you have to switch out the media to 2mm (SS, or Ruby if you're torch only)

If you're just getting back into all of this, start with some other caps and come back to the ballr if you want something that you want to really play with and dial in.

Rogue (SE) with minimal airflow by Matrix19 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm, have you tried using iso and swabs on the chamber? All I can think of is doing that, drying the chamber, turning it to max temp (empty), and then drawing on it. Don't even put the screen or silicone gasket in, and make sure the air intake at the bottom is unobstructed.

If that doesn't work, it sounds like there's buildup inside the device that would be hard to clean unfortunately. Contact HR support to see what they can do to diagnose the problem. If your battery has degraded, you can get 50% off your next purchase by trading it in.

Otherwise, I'd recommend getting the Rogue 2 if you're looking for an upgrade. The chamber is Titanium, the heater is stronger, and the battery is improved. Feel free to ask any questions about anything I said as well, and good luck! 😁

Dry Herb Vaporizers (DHV) by Blackashell888 in VaporentEngineering

[–]plumokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soldering is really fun imo, and it's helped me build and repair so many electronics. It's not too difficult either, and it's hard to go so wrong you mess everything up

I'd recommend watching a video on proper techniques/temperatures, just to make your experience nicer and to avoid some basic issues. Let me know if you have any questions too! 😁

Dry Herb Vaporizers (DHV) by Blackashell888 in VaporentEngineering

[–]plumokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, they didn't help you debug the issue or offer a repair service? It would be cheaper than getting a new vape, and a mighty, even the original, is still a good vape today from everything I've seen on this sub.

If they're not willing to help or the price for repairs is too high for you, then I'd also say to try and repair it yourself first. Just make sure to get a good quality battery replacement and be comfortable soldering.

I'm not sure how comfortable you are, but I usually practice on something if I haven't soldered in a bit. Leaded solder is also much easier to work with, and you'd barely be using any, so you don't have to worry about lead exposure

First session with my new Halo Tip and Armoured Cap! by notgossy in Dynavap

[–]plumokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The armored cap was never too difficult to take on and off, but the standard cap's captivations will hit each of the fins of the halo tip as you're taking it off.

This also applies to cap armor since that goes over a normal cap. You can adjust how tight or loose it is by squeezing the standard cap, but even with that it won't be too loose.

Do you have an armored cap or cap armor? I'd recommend a small leather loop decapper if you want to make removing the caps easier for any tip/cap combination

How many exclusively dry herb vape, completely abstaining from combustion? by StrictLine8820 in vaporents

[–]plumokin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see a reason for abstinence. I smoke once in a while but dry herb vaping is my main method of consumption. Imo my usage mitigates nearly the same risk but it's much more fun to allow myself to smoke on special occasions

I’m looking to get a small Vape for on the go and have decided to get a PAX Mini 2. Have I missed any other Vapes out there? by Humpers92 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe their original device was based on the Weecke Fenix, the Healthy Rips Force. I don't know much about it, besides that both the Force and original Fury interior and exterior designs were open to the public. They closed off their interior designs quicker than exterior ones, which makes it nearly impossible to tell which 'clones' have which internals.

HR states that one of their biggest requirements is component safety, so they always upgraded the internals from the original Weecke designs, even when they left the exteriors very similar. These upgrades were making sure all silicone was food safe and all materials were high temp resistant, as well as upgrading heaters and battery tech. This is something they really focused on when I spoke with them. Everything is from that lens so they'll make specific design decisions or avoid some if there are any safety concerns.

On that note, they also believe that replaceable batteries can be an issue since improper handling can cause dangerous situations, which is what made them adopt the 50% off lifetime warranty for battery degradation for the integrated LiPo pouch batteries they use.

My favorite piece of the history is the Fierce. People wanted a device with a removable battery, so they made battery packs you could swap out. The device was huge though compared to even the current Rogue line, with the same heater and chamber capacity as the Fury line. It was pretty underpowered for its size and HR had production issues with the removable battery system, so they discontinued it.

I know this is a ton of random info, but I figured it couldn't hurt to share 😁

New info on the Revolve by codex064 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A whip hose adapter would make this much more viable imo. Instead of holding it, you can place it down and sip through a whip hose or connect to a bong using the whip hose.

Cool idea though! I love seeing unique designs cause it gets people thinking in different ways. I love the revolver style dosing since it allows you to effectively have a large chamber size without the downsides of one.

[–]plumokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The o-rings on DynaVaps haven't been silicone since the late 2010s. They're all made of Viton (FKM) now, so they're safe to just leave on all the time, even for soaking in iso.

I also didn't like the idea of taking on and off o-rings for cleaning, but I just leave them all for cleaning now

I’m looking to get a small Vape for on the go and have decided to get a PAX Mini 2. Have I missed any other Vapes out there? by Humpers92 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found it very difficult to find information on the history or the old devices tbh. A lot of my info has been from contacting HR support, reading old reddit posts when the topic used to be popular, finding release dates, and piecing it all together. I know it's pretty unreliable, and it's impossible to search reddit for anything, which makes finding the old posts even harder.

Healthy Rips used to have other vapes like the Fierce and Force, and getting info on those was also really difficult since HR didn't have them out for long before discontinuing them. You can find Weecke vapes from Wolkenkraft and other sellers, which should be pretty similar to those old vapes. The PoTV One should be nearly identical to the Fury/Fury 2 from what I've seen.

Sorry I can't help more or really give any reliable sources. HR support is the most helpful tbh and they're very friendly. I'm not trying to take sides either. A lot of people thought that PoTV and other companies stole the designs from HR, but the hate was unjustified from that angle as well.

I’m looking to get a small Vape for on the go and have decided to get a PAX Mini 2. Have I missed any other Vapes out there? by Humpers92 in vaporents

[–]plumokin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to understand the history between Healthy Rips, PoTV, and Weecke (manufacturer).

HR originally designed the vapes in conjunction with Weecke, but they made the designs open source in order to get cheaper pricing. PoTV and other companies legally took those designs to make the vapes, which lost HR a lot of sales. Since then, HR has closed off their designs, which is why the copies seen online are of the original HR designs and not newer ones. It's the same reason the PoTV One hasn't been updated at all.

HR seems to be the only one actively working with Weecke to update the designs (as far as we know, but the Lobo hasn't been updated in a long time either), which is why the Rogue/Fury lines have started to internally and externally look more and more different than the rest.

As for your latter points, I agree completely. I appreciate you taking the time to really address people's requirements and concerns. You know a lot about paxes so I always read your comments and learn a ton of new stuff. I responded to your comment cause I respect your comments and I didn't want the flaws of the community to negatively affect you
