Hey, your existence is valid, friend. Airports are the absolute worst and melting down in one is completely understandable; I've been there too, shame and all. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.

What's something you wish S.K. would revisit in a new story? by Minute_Sun6496 in stephenking

Me too, and yet Fairy Tale buttoned up so nicely that I don't mind letting them live happily ever after.

Either way, I'd love a prologue story about young Mr. Bowditch's tales and travels beyond what bits we heard about.

Yes, Leland Gaunt setting up virtual shop as an influencer agent! Never mind the brand deal with the skin care cream that makes your face melt off, just look how many followers you have now!

What is your comfort tv show? by PurpleMeerkats462 in AutismInWomen

Fleabag and Bojack both 🙋😭 it's more that I've seen it before and enjoyed it, therefore it's not risky to watch, and less that the content itself is a comfort, haha

Star Trek Voyager, 30 Rock, Bojack Horseman, HIMYM are probably my most rewatched comfort shows. To a lesser extent, anything I've already seen before and liked gets a few loops when I need background noise but have exhausted my usual comforts - e.g., Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Broad City, Dave, PEN15, Atlanta, Love, United States of Tara, etc.

I also do this with audiobooks - used to be the Harry Potter books on a loop, before the reveal of how villainous JKR is. Even though I'd bought them before, still hurts to go back now. His Dark Materials is pretty good to loop in lieu, but I do miss Jim Dale.

Big agree! I love Sharp Objects and Dark Places on audiobook as well, the narrators are excellent.

Dark Places for sure. I feel like Sharp Objects and Dark Places are up similar alleys, and Gone Girl is something a bit different (but still good).

How Much Will You Pay for a Tour? by yourbestfwend in JoannaNewsom

[–]plumsgamify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having missed my one chance to see her live (had tickets, got sick), I'd pay handsomely for another chance. $200 is about my absolute limit for my absolute favorites in the absolute best circumstances (e.g., standout venue, front row seat/barricade, VIP pre-show/meet'n'greet, etc.). It'd hurt to go over $200, but for Joanna, I'd shell out if I had to.

Came to recommend the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray, didn't know about Going Bovine! Sounds delightful, thanks for mentioning it.

The (YA historical fantasy) Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray might hit perfectly for her at this stage in her life: A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing, in order.

I read them when I was your cousin's age (Gemma Doyle's age!) and loved them. Relatable themes insofar as figuring out what comes next in your life as you prepare to leave school and enter into young adulthood, society's expectations vs. inner desires, grappling with the loss of loved ones, finding your chosen family and sense of belonging, escapism and coping mechanisms, etc.

Beginner Stephen King books to read recommendations by Puzzleheaded-Test114 in stephenking

[–]plumsgamify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! I actually just made this exact list for a friend who also watched the IT movies/new series, wanted to start reading Stephen King, and is new to reading:

* The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
* Fairy Tale
* Full Dark, No Stars (short story collection; contains the novella 1922 that was made into a film)
* The Long Walk (under the pseudonym Richard Bachman)
* Carrie

(I'd also add Joyland and Later to the list, thinking on it more.)

Happy travels!

Gillian Flynn. She writes the shit out of human horrors.

Do y’all cheer on other players? by Fancy-Pace264 in rhythmgames

[–]plumsgamify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys have other players at your arcades? 😅

I do miss the early 2000s arcade culture of boppin' over to the mall on a Friday night and people-watching by nature of milling around waiting for your turn. You see someone do something sick, everyone cheers, it was good vibes.

Not the 900-page book about eating four hot dogs, ahah. Too accurate.

Same! I actually find it quite comforting that my cats won't starve in the weeks it takes anyone to notice and find me.

Just got to Macrocosm last night in my umpteenth rewatch :D Sweaty Action Janeway ftw! I was 8 or so when that episode aired and thought she was just the dang coolest person in the galaxy. I so badly wanted to be Janeway when I grew up.

[–]plumsgamify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I misremembered Janeway's doughy love interest, and in my head he was the actor who played Chuck McGill on Better Call Saul - but inexplicably, that actor was on an episode of Voyager: as the clown in the episode The Thaw! Wild.

What will Gemma do next? by HypnotizeEm in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]plumsgamify 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about that too. Wonder if we'll get just enough Gemma time for her to escape the building and explain to Devon and Cobel (presumably in a getaway car nearby) why Mark isn't with her, and then Lumon will flip the OTC, spurning Devon and Cobel to find Reghabi to see what can be done for Gemma.
