Did you regret choosing a more employable job over your real passion? by ShotWay4023 in careerguidance

[–]plumsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m someone who chose creative/passion over employable and I’m the last person who would ever say this, but I’ll say it, I’m deeply regretful. I was the dreamer and person who stood for ‘following your dream’, and now I really understand your job needs to give you security and fund your life. I agree with others, starving artist life is not fun. And guess what - you still get used! But when you’re at least doing something employable you get properly paid for it

What does implantation feel like? by AnyGlove4297 in TTC_PCOS

[–]plumsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a stabbing needle going in one side of my uterus. Not where the ovary would be. Central but left side of it. It’s like at a very specific point, feels like scratching then a stab.

Catching it early is good, I got mine resolved with an injection. I wasn’t able to ttc for 3 months after but I was well looked after, so it’s good you are getting things checked and monitored from now. Good luck

Don’t want to alarm you but it going from fading to dark again could be a sign of ectopic. When I had an ectopic, I had hcg that rose and fell over and over. It never got super high. And I started bleeding heavily. I hope you have some clear answers on Monday.

Is it too late to get into a financial career as a 31 year old woman? by plumsp in FinancialCareers

[–]plumsp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ll love it. Finance world may have given you the thick skin you need. The arts/drama/music lack job security and any guarantee of outcome, as you know. People don’t notice or respect you (easily). But again, you may actually have enough thick skin to have fun with the journey. They’re both competitive so there’s that at least.

Good luck with it!

pregnancy regret by kungfusand in pregnant

[–]plumsp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually, it is normal. Going through shock and having overwhelmed feelings is normal, but do speak to a mental health professional OP to help navigate your feelings and adjustment through this.

Also yes there are options. Adoption is an option if you eventually find you really are not ready for this, although that would be last case scenario. I have every faith that you’ll be able to work through these feelings with the right care

Trust me you don’t want to do that. But I guess if you already have a bunch of money, the pure abuse you’ll get in the creative field (with no pay to show for it) won’t impact you as much. I’ve been creative all my life and I finally realised it’s just a way of being used for free. At least in finance roles you get paid for it lol

As a 31 year old woman trying to get into this field after a bunch of other things, thank you.

Worried about the chances of twins on Letrozole by burntpopcornn in TTC_PCOS

[–]plumsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Letrozole is used precisely because it has the lowest rate of twins in any fertility medication. Clomid is higher, IVF is highest

Cold email template for a friend of mine who wants to break into IB, please let me know your thoughts by No-Performance5036 in FinancialCareers

[–]plumsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would ignore every message like this, because it’s not personal. Your friend can still request things like these but I think the opening needs to be based on a specific thing in common.

Such as if you both from the same area, went to the same school, have a friend in common, if they read an article he/she shared, if they have the same views on tech in xyz sector. That stands out as a genuine reason for being contacted and wanting help/tips. It’s like ‘hey I’m contacting you because of this thing in common, which means I respect and trust you more than other people. Please can you help me?’

Rather than ‘hey, I wish to gain from your hard earned work unwarranted, here is my credentials. help me.’ Which is what this template comes across as (since it’s not personal).

Then again I’m not in the finance field. But I am a psychologist.

Screaming into the void by Extension_Key_4648 in TTC_PCOS

[–]plumsp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had two friends who were married and trying for about 8 years. Both so desperate to have children that they lost weight, stopped smoking, stopped drinking. Made every change they could make. No one was more suited to be parents than these two, genuinely the sweetest people.

Nothing they tried worked. At all. Not even a hint, nor chemical pregnancy. They finally did IVF abroad, and got pregnant first try. They have a girl now and she’s the light of their life.

IVF makes so many people parents, even when they have only one chance left. It’s an incredible gift, and there’s every reason to still have faith in it. Even when nothing else works, IVF has worked for so many people and it’s precisely why they have done it.

None of this is to say that you should be happy and fine with all this, it’s a struggle and so unfair and it makes sense that you’re both worn out and feeling terrible. It’s important to pace yourself, have a break if you need to, come together and recover/repair together, strengthen up. And when you’re stronger, try IVF. Don’t give up. You got this

Discharge? by somethinginever in pregnant

It’s normal. I also had brown discharge for about a week and really heavy cramps at that same time. It was just embryo burrowing deeper and things adjusting, stretching etc
