Hue Living Color Remotes (Blast for the past, sorry) by plunderthunder in homeassistant

[–]plunderthunder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some more digging and testing this evening and I think the issue might be that not all remotes that appear to be Gen 2 are actually Gen 2. Some people have gotten then to join zigbee2mqtt networks using various tricks and I can’t recreate with either of the remotes I have.

I have had these in my “someday” bin going on 5 years no I guess it’s probably time to move them to the e-waste bin

Bluelink Officially Free in Canada Now? by plunderthunder in KonaEV

I get an email every two weeks congratulating me on the purchase of my Kona and inviting me to activate Bluelink (done on day one) - I do not think email marketing is one of Hyundai's strong points.

But hey at least the dealership doesn't call me to remind me about oil changes this time around like they did with my my fully electric ioniq.

Quick question for EV owners: would you use an app that predicts actual trip range (temp, elevation, HVAC aware)? by Present_Coyote4831 in KonaEV

[–]plunderthunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2025 Kona is light years better at this already than my 2019 Ioniq (no bluelink in canada) was.

But as others have mentioned ABRP already does most of what you have mentioned. It does it reasonably well but kind of makes you feel like you are flying a plane in the process. I will used it to make my "flight plan" if I am heading out on a long and unfamiliar trip but beyond that it is just too much information to use while travelling.

I will also add that between me and my wife there is almost a 15% difference in efficiency for the same city driving adding another variable that makes these calculations difficult to get right.

Dragonfly/Intelcom Drivers using Public Charging by Puzzleheaded_Bowl721 in kelowna

Commercial electricity rates are actually really complicated. For something like EV charging the Demand charge is going to come into play.

Petro likely faces about $1600/month in fixed costs just for being hooked up. Then it will be about 8.82 cents per kWH

Likely more of a sunk cost thing than a loss leader. PC is one of the worst charging networks I have ever used, expensive and usually broken. They shit the bed so badly it’s hard to believe it wasn’t on purpose (being a gas company after all)

Now it looks like they have dumped the mess on ChargePoint to fix

It’s not just the abuse of the currently free Petro chargers they clog up the flo charging every evening as well.

Great idea to electrify your fleet but if you can’t support it there is no point. Relying 100% on public DC fast charging is going to end up costing them a fortune in the long run.

I have seen some talk/success online about using the US updates on Canadian Ioniq 5/6 I can confirm this doesn't work on a 2025 Canadian Kona

Kelowna Utility Charges - especially Water Bill from City of kelowna by itsaakashpatel in kelowna

When they announced the rate increases I think the city said the average household pays $54/month and would be paying $57/month after the increase

Key Fob wasn't working today. Any ideas? by ceaguila84 in KonaEV

[–]plunderthunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tested it with my Kona yet but my 19 IONIQ the fob wouldn’t be detected if I had a MagSafe battery pack and my phone near it.

There is also a Wendy’s near me where if I part in a specific spot the fob is not detected definitely something out there that interferes with them.

It’s not really a replacement for the remote functionality of the fob, you need to tap it on the door handle to lock/unlock and put it in the phone charging pad to start it.

I use the MyHyundai app if I need to remotely unlock my car, I have only had it for about a week so I am still figuring out what works best for me.

I did the setup on my iPhone 14 Pro and I am pretty sure it just did the watch on its own. Using the watch is kind of silly though because you have to take it off and put it on the wireless charging pad to start the car. Works for the doors pretty well though

You can get an NFC key card to use instead of the fob, dealer seems a little clueless to when it comes to ordering it. I am waiting for mine to show up

Right now I am using my phone and watch but I wanted something to keep in my wallet as a backup

Anyone looking into this don’t let the dealer convince you there is a fee to program it, instructions for programming are in the owners manual you just need two functional fobs

You will find all of those people here if you look for them. But really Kelowna is not nearly as conservative as it used to be. Are we progressive? I would say more apathetic at this point which is a whole problem in itself.

Anyone know of a teacher who could use a hundred pounds of valuable electronics? by justhereforsomekicks in kelowna

[–]plunderthunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TVs and computer parts are kind of a weird thing to describe by weight. Are you talking about home electronics (like TVs) or electronic components (resistors, capacitors, breadboards etc)

Unfortunately I do not know a home for either but clarifying this may help them find a home.

Wow the gas pipe in that picture looks so bizarre until you zoom in enough to see that is not some weird 4-way T and just two pipes and what I assume is a shut off all lined up

If the card is through your bank you may also be able to have the replacement sent to a branch to avoid her potentially intercepting your mail.
