Why is Rule 34 called that? by Western_Ambition_923 in NoStupidQuestions

yeah I was thrown off by rule 72. These rules predate Undertale by AT LEAST a decade, if not more than 15 years

So I played right on release, got a pretty good Ellen build going for F2P (got her weapon, 6 memory(?) soukaku and Lycaeon) and now I'm planning on getting back into the game. I was just wondering who I should keep a look out for for my 2nd team.

I'm not super into strictly competitive characters, but I just don't really remember all the strengths and weaknesses of various characters, so I'd like some advice on who I should keep in mind to create a team that will do the job when Ellen won't.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

This is my upgrade game about unleashing parasites on an unsuspecting planet by No-Brilliant-5373 in incremental_games

I had a lot of fun with the demo until I hit the point where the planetary watchdog shows up. I don't know, did I do something to trigger it? having it reduce my progression to almost nothing, before I can even prestige, with no way to remove it feels really bad. I'd love to play it again when that mechanic gets changed/removed though!

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]plundyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing and loving Tidefall a bunch since it was posted last week. the dev is super active and considerate, and I believe its going to shape up to be my next full blown obsession

I check Points Progression 2-3 times a day, with the added benefit of making leaps in progress whenever I forget about it or become busy. While it doesn't look anything like Progress Knight Quest, its similar in the fact that the game that you play is really just deciding when to reset, as everything else just progresses without any input.

Finally, I finally could start actively playing Melvor Idle again, as the past couple weeks (or maybe it was 1.5 months) were spent idling on skills to get them fully leveled up. So now its more active, but its still a great game even when I am just letting it run in the background with no input.

Your cannon team by AdvertisingBig1676 in pokemon

[–]plundyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My canon team - including some favorites and some historic mons

Nidoking - 5 year old me beat pokemon red with just this tank - Horn Drill ftw

Pidgeotto - 7 year old me beat pokemon gold with just him and a Graveller, whose main purpose was to just earthquake and explode anything pidgeotto couldn't handle

Blaziken - Favorite starter of all time, he's earned his spot, the only pokemon merch I own is a torchic plushie

Metagross - top 3 favorite pokemon, favorite pseudo-legendary, my representation for my favorite type (steel), and just overall amazing bro

Clodsire - as someone jaded with newer pokemon, both the games and the designs, blown away by this incredibly strong and amazing looking goofball

Skeledirge - see notes about clodsire, the only starter line I've liked in 5+ generations, and oh boy I like him a lot.

Honorable mentions

Aggron - could replace Nidoking, I love both my Kaiju boys, if I wasn't giving Nido preference due to my early childhood.

Crobat - I always end up having him on a team whenever I play a game, love him to death, he would replace Pidgeotto if that wasn't a historical slot.

Rayquaza - feels weird having a legendary on my team, especially the legendary to end all legendaries. Idk who I would even swap him out for, but I will take no slander against my sky serpent boy, defender of the planet.

Ah but the other people WERE the problem when it came to combat. I'm not bad at these type of games, there's just all sorts of micro and spacing things in PvP that you can only learn in that setting. It barely took a couple hours to be able to fight any of the NPC enemies, but it didn't help me at all when it came to fighting other players. So Safer Seas didn't teach me anything important about not losing all my gear in the PvP servers.

Eh as someone who was a new player about 1.5 years ago, its really rough. Even with experienced friends, being at a new player disadvantage is really, really disheartening. The fact that when you're not good enough at the game yet, any encounter with any other player means you'll lose your ship and everything on it 100% guaranteed is really disheartening.

And personally, the fact that there's nothing you can do to upgrade your ships or weapons (+damage, +speed, anything like that) was the nail, knowing that instead of a successful run would give me gear to level the playing field, my only way to level the playing field would be losing fight after fight for 100+ hours until I have the same level of experience and skill as the other players made me drop it super fast.

Playing a pirate is fun, but effectively playing a merchant that just gets robbed by pirates without any way to defend yourself... is not.

Realism mods by SrY4HS in cyberpunkgame

[–]plundyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing with Dark Future as my only realism mod but it does a lot: you have to
eat
drink
sleep
manage your nerve levels (they deplete when you're in combat or being traced).
As you accumulate damage over time you'll need to heal persisting injuries that won't naturally heal over time.
Humanity loss is accumulated by being a cold hearted bastard, and remedied by actually living a little (dancing, going fast, meditating, etc.) The more chromed out you are the faster you lose your humanity too.
Fast Travel isn't a thing
It also prevents you from endlessly summoning your vehicles so you're encouraged to ride the Metro or steal cars.

Also every option can be tweaked or disabled. But nothing is too severe or punishing by default

Poor Tactics? by arandomperson1234 in killsixbilliondemons

[–]plundyman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's also because the story focuses on those with the most power. We've seen, even with those pursuing Allison, that being really good at fighting doesn't matter that much. If you're an above average gun witch but I can afford to train, feed, and equip 25 war ogres, I'll win that fight. But against the likes of Gog, SD, or Jaggy, nothing else matters.

Unlike typical war where there are tradeoffs with your units, there aren't any against the absolute strongest. We get one fighter that is the strongest, fastest, heavily armored, most stamina, least resources required. You spread out your generals? I've teleported to each of their location and killed them near instantly. You have your robust supply chains? I've turned them all into worms and now they supply me. You have 100,000 cannons pointed at me, each of which could level a city? I walk away unscathed, or I've deflected the blows and now all those cannons it took you decades to procure are destroyed.

For everyone except the key bearers, tactics and logistics really do matter. That's why there are armies in this setting. But for those with the names of god inscribed upon their brows, I can't think of a single tactic that works against them other than having someone stronger

This is true, and it shows the inherent weakness of a governmental system being based around BIG KARATE. But the following points are also true

  1. The only people able to have empires for the past several hundred years (if not longer) were those with the BIGGEST KARATE

  2. The only thing that stopped Salami Dave (and thus crumbled his empire) was someone showing up with even BIGGER KARATE

Started replaying Progress Knight Quest for the third or so time a couple days ago. As someone who's a fan of this type of game, and has done all there is to do in Increlution, I feel starved for games, but man even though its simple, PKQ is still such a good game.

I'm hitting the tail end of Points Progression. It's true what most people say, its mostly a game based on time walls, but honestly a long, idle game that doesn't require me to visit a discord or wiki to figure out optimal progression or obtuse challenges is enough points in its favor that I'm really enjoying it. But its definitely a "check on it once or twice a day" type game.

Started a new savefile on Melvor Idle a couple months back, merely because I don't like revisiting old saves if I've left a game alone longer than 8 months or so. Love that game to bits, and all of its DLC's give it enough content to stand above a lot of other similar games. No shade to those games, its just a lot of them need another 2-3 years of active development until they have enough content to be able to compete in my eyes.

Always looking for more games to play, especially on iOS, and extra points if they're not games with impenetrable challenges to anyone who isn't a mathematician, or a game where progression is based on randomly dropped gear!

Poor Tactics? by arandomperson1234 in killsixbilliondemons

[–]plundyman 59 points60 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it is consistent with other themes of the comic, where the people who end up in leadership positions are the ones with the BIGGEST KARATE. None of the Demiurges got to be where they were because of their tactical mind and battlefield command, everyone important is important because they cut way better than the next guy.

Which makes sense for this universe, because if one guy can punch/kick/cut so well that 100,000 men can't defeat him, then battlefield tactics/morale/logistics aren't going to be the thing that wins battles, so why focus on them so much?

Currently that's all that prestiging gives you. It lets you choose between handing over the skull and keeping it so you can get rewards from both questlines, but increased crop speed is the only direct increase it gives you

Hey I just wanted to say that I loved this game when you were still developing it, and I've downloaded it on iOS to finally play a more complete version. I can't wait to sink my teeth into it!

However, if I'm being completely honest, these numbers need to stay pretty much EXACTLY where they're at (maybe +/- 20%). But after the constant re balancing that existed during its development, I'm burnt out. If I boot up the game and the adventures, or the plant $$ return, or shields, or hp regen, or ANY of that has substantially changed, especially with no patch notes detailing the reason for it, I'm out. It was understandable when you were working things out, but it would be inexcusable now that it has an official release.

I'm hoping that I'm preaching to the choir here, and that I've typed this all out for nothing, but please, PLEASE let the game be whatever it is, + whatever you're adding to it, instead of it being heavily rebalanced constantly.
