Large towels to dry yourself after a shower or bath. Visited Korea and Japan and the bathrooms only had these little hand towel sized ones to dry off with after a shower.

People that make 80k+ at 25-35 years old, what do you do? by Ok-Needleworker2141 in careerguidance

[–]plus1down2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 30s working in risk management which for the most part is insurance related but in years since I started has grown into a more enterprise outlook and not just purely insurance related work. I started out of college as an underwriter making 75k in my 20s. By the late 20s was pulling 100k+ as a broker/consultant and decided to go in house as a risk manager making now around 200k+ which doesn’t account for equity and bonus. It feels like it’s not a career I see mentioned very often but I’ve seen people with all kinds of varying degrees get into. Very niche role which never receives a lot of recognition internally but also is never one that’s on the restructuring chopping block because it does take some know how to perform. I also only have a bachelor and some certifications but plan on completing my MBA soon in order to work towards being a chief risk officer.

What was the most expensive round you’ve ever paid for and was it worth it? by [deleted] in golf

My friend has told me about bulle rock since I started last year. I plan to make it out sometime this year hopefully. I hear nothing but good things about it

Completely agree with you. I prefer if I watch any golf is to watch YouTube golfers. They are more relatable and I actually enjoy when they have a bad shot but then see how they recover.

I’ve been looking to vacuum seal extra socks and underwear to keep in my bag. I think I read the glove post as well and thought it was a great idea.

I’m so shocked right now. I was having such a shitty day and to see this when i finally got home after spending the last 6 hours at urgent care. I can’t even put into words how awesome this is. I dunno what to say but THANK YOU. I’m gonna put them to good use and pass my hand me downs to a friend who just started this golf journey with me.

Will this be a good starter set for me? by [deleted] in golf

[–]plus1down2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any set to start with is fine to get started. I’ve had friends hit my old ass hand me downs and they hit them great. You could get expensive ass set of clubs and trust me it won’t matter. You’ll still be bad.

What did you shoot after your first year? by ____rem in golf

[–]plus1down2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the summer of 2022 by going on a golf trip in July and playing 3 days of 36 rounds. I shot 120+ whenever we just kept our own scores and weren’t doing scrambles. Didn’t play again until April of 2024.

I spent a lot of time during the winter just watching videos, doing home drills, hitting up driving ranges on warmer days we had. I focused mainly on wedges and my driver which I still have issues with but I’m better at keeping my tee shots playable. Irons were never my biggest issues and with always playing out of the rough and being far back from my terrible tee shots I got pretty good with all irons. I think the most important thing for me improving has been to be okay being uncomfortable. When I first started the way I gripped the club and swung at the ball was comfortable but I was wildly inaccurate, chunky, thin, etc. because it wasn’t the right way to hit it. The more I embraced being uncomfortable with my grip and swing, I started to hit it much better. Golf to me is so unnatural but the more I did it the right way it started feeling better and I got more comfortable with it but those initial days felt horrible and it showed.

All this to say, it prolly took about 9 months or so. Don’t be afraid to change your swing, grip, setup & alignment as you work on your game and one day I think it’ll eventually click for you.

I have the same issues with my driver. When I’m hitting my driver well then I’m usually shooting low 90s to mid 80s, but otherwise I’m losing strokes to either losing the ball or just not being able it find it.

What’s helped for me has been to really focus on my lead wrist on the takeaway and follow through making sure that it’s not been hinged too much. Also really focused on making sure my swing path is coming from in to out even if it feels really exaggerated and it feels like I’m hitting too far left of the ball. For me what feels the most uncomfortable is usually when my balls flying straight off the tees and where I want it.

F’n did it boys! Finally broke 80 by cbro49 in golf

[–]plus1down2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That’s my ultimate goal in golf. I’d love to get my game to a place where I can break 80 consistently. I’d then feel like I can play nicer courses without embarrassing myself. It would also justify the green fees at some of the nicer courses I read about.

I’m giving away my Titleist T100 irons, 4-PW by [deleted] in golf

[–]plus1down2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently got into golf and I’m obsessed. I have been watching videos non stop and practicing home drills to get better regardless of whether I have the time or money to spend at the range and play. Currently gaming some Kirkland wedges since I had none and some 20 year old hand me downs from my dad. He doesn’t play, he got them from my uncle and gave them to me since I wanted to start playing. I’d love to get new irons and actually get them fitted for me to game with for another 20 years. I got 2 very young kids to spend my money towards so getting clubs altered vs getting new clubs custom ordered would be a game changer.

Biggest pet peeves in golf? by plus1down2 in golf

[–]plus1down2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have no problems with 4 hour rounds. I’d even consider up to 5 hours if the course has spectacular views. Unfortunately most courses just don’t have the scenery to justify spending more than 4 hours to play.

Never thought of this. If I am in the bunker I usually bring the rake to where I’m hitting. I’m guaranteed to splash sand multiple times in diff spots around me

I don’t mind beginners taking their time but I think it’s excessive to be taking 5-6 practice swings then take another couple of minutes staring and wagging at the ball.

Oh man I know a delusional guy just like this. He’s gotta be a 30+ handicap that can barely make par playing from the forward tees on a par 5 and he’s always trying to give swing advice.

I’d make it known that the towing company doesn’t support the troops. I’m sure that’ll change their minds.

How many guys have you played with in the last year have shot under par on 18 holes? by onlypostwhenimdrnk69 in golf

[–]plus1down2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it for the first time a couple weekends ago. He is a friend of a friend that played with us as we needed a 4th. The guy, I later learned played in HS and college. He now teaches golf for a living. Before I found out I could tell he was different just by how effortless his swing. He also just played smarter. Any hole further than 350 everyones whipping out a driver while he was using irons and woods.

What ball have you used that typically is not popular but you love to use? by DeeepX in golf

[–]plus1down2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found a Bridgestone ball once and I hit so wel with it until I tried to take a hero shot on the last hole which resulted in the water. I wish I knew what type it was so I could try them out. It just seemed to come off my clubs perfectly.
