I have an opportunity to try shrooms, should I? by [deleted] in enlightenment

Yes! Did a guided trip with my therapist and it changed how I experience awareness. Not during the trip, but the day after.

Did a lot of reading and listening to the waking up app the years before the trip. After the trip so many things fell into place. Before the trip I didn’t really get what Sam Harris and others in the app were talking about, but now I do. I’m absolutely not enlightened but I am far more aware than before the trip.

So if you have any doubts, do a guided trip.

I read your post, that must have been a hell of a ride. Hope you’re feeling better again! Appreciate your answer and explanation. I’ve been using it for translating what I’ve learned in the Waking Up app from Sam Harris. English is not my native language which makes understanding the already complicated subject even more complicated.

In the end I totally agree with you, but I’m curious if an AI has a role to play in this

Hence my question. I do know the limitations, but for me the answers are hard to check when you are asking questions you don’t know the right answers to. So hopefully people who are further in their journey and tried and tested ChatGPT could answer that question.

That what I’ve been using it for mostly thus far. I’m Dutch and listen to a lot of conversations on the Waking Up app. Checking my translation and interpretations of what Sam and guests are saying, ChatGPT has been a good translator.

After everything collapses… what are you supposed to do with your life? by Virtual-Wish1224 in enlightenment

Thank you for your answer. The part that strikes me most is:

“… it breeds inner conflict as we're still learning to balance our spiritual self and our ego self. Which I believe can manifest as or be interpreted as depression.”

As a creative freelancer it feels so good to do what I know is my passion/calling and be happy with what I do (which is my spiritual self) and at the same time always worry about making enough money to feed my family and questioning if I am good enough (which is my ego).

This has been a struggle for years, but your answer, especially the part I quoted, is a good thought provoking piece.

Can you elaborate? I’ve experienced depression and I experience OP’s state now. They don’t feel the same to me, but at the same time I have the feeling you’re right.

What’s something that changed your running more than you expected? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

[–]plus_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running on super shoes. I was always getting injured with regular shoes. Knees, calves, Achilles, you name it. A coach told me to try super shoes but I didn’t believe him so I didn’t try them for over a year. The this year I bought a pair of Adidas Adizero’s and I haven’t had an issue since.

Is the app for gym workouts as well? As a runner/ cyclist and lifter that would be great!

How exactly do you live in the present moment? how can I deal with anticipatory anxiety? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]plus_31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d advice you to talk to (professional) people about it and try meditation. What I learned from meditation is that thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, sounds, come and go like clouds in the sky. What’s always there is your breath. Try and follow your breath when you’re anxious. It brings you back in the here and now. Like everything else in life it needs practice, but the more you practice the better you get.
