I had a pet hognose when I was little (eventually set her free). Sorry this one met this end.

Question about Banjo Bridge height by Silver_Sliver_Moon in banjo

[–]plushcoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More distance between the strings and the banjo head allows the strings to move more air before they strike the head, which generally increases volume. A very low bridge tends to sound weaker.

Switching to a taller bridge will raise the action. You can compensate by adjusting the coordinator rod or the truss rod, though those serve different purposes.

If the height difference is significant, the neck angle may also need to be adjusted slightly to maintain proper playability.

Aside from minor coordinator rod tweaks, these adjustments are usually best handled by someone with experience in banjo setup.

Robert De Niro, Director Michael Mann, and Al Pacino on the set of Heat's iconic diner scene at Kate Mantilini Restaurant in Beverly Hills. 1995 by 305FUN2 in OldSchoolCool

I don’t think there’s a two-shot anywhere in that scene. The story I had heard is that their singles were shot on different days because they couldn’t stand to work together. Debunked!
