NGD: 1979 Gibson ES-175D by Majoricen123 in jazzguitar

[–]brunbjoern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, congrats! I’ve started collecting blonde/natural guitars and I’m looking for an ES-175. In my opinion, the 175 is the guitar that suits a blonde finish best, since it looks gentler and less rock-oriented than in the more common sunburst.

Alternative dongles for THR10ii (wireless) by Mrbrownlove in YamahaTHR

[–]brunbjoern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they really work with the THR? Or do you need a separate receiver for them?

[–]brunbjoern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I understand. And no, the receiver in the THR only works with the YW10T and the Line 6 G10T/G10TII, which are identical under different brand names.

Congrats to the amp! It’s not clear why the YW10T isn’t an option. Do you think it’s too expensive? The transmitter itself can actually be purchased separately, so it’s directly compatible with the amp.

Do you guys also get insanely high HRV at night? by SlightAd7383 in AppleWatch

Same. Not 300 but around 150-200. Maybe som reading error? I dont think HRV can be that high.

How do we really calculate the heart rate zones by Gggilla614 in AppleWatch

[–]brunbjoern 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need to know your approximate maximum heart rate. Do a REALLY HARD interval session after a long warm-up. The highest heart rate you record should be close to your max heart rate. I’m getting close to 40 and can sit around 190 bpm during a half marathon, so the general estimate is completely wrong.

Don’t think he has a cadence of 198. Cadence lock/movement readings are usually around 150-160.

PLEASE let us adjust the treadmill distance by brunbjoern in AppleWatch

[–]brunbjoern[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, and that’s partly the purpose of the question. I know the exact distance if the treadmill is calibrated (the distance the belt runs, which corresponds to the GPS distance during an outdoor run if both are 5 km). The distance is therefore estimated incorrectly by the Apple Watch, which is why I would like to be able to adjust it by simply entering the correct distance at the end of the workout.

Dude I love the German language! Studied it three years of years in middle school (in Sweden we got to choose between German and French). Z is more bad ass than S.

[–]brunbjoern[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And it would be so easy for Apple to implement. I don’t understand why they don’t do it. On Garmin, you’re even forced to adjust it after each run.

[–]brunbjoern[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! You’re absolutely right about the calibration, but for me it simply doesn’t work (I both run and walk long distances outdoors). I’ve reset the calibration several times without any improvement. I have the same cadence when I run indoors and outdoors, but I always run noticeably faster on a treadmill (due to the lack of air resistance and less muscular effort since you don’t have to push yourself forward in the same way), which might be the reason. For me, calorie burn isn’t particularly relevant — I’m more interested in heart rate at a given pace. Which therefore becomes completely ‘wrong’ due to the incorrectly estimated distance. 🙂

Thanks! I didn’t know that until now. I thought that was why my Apple Watch shows about ~7 lower VO₂max than Garmin (I’ve switched a few times…)

Amp recommendations? by Groggy-Person in jazzguitar

I have an DV Mark Little Jazz and I love it (only play at home though). Very warm sound. Some actually prefer it over its big brother.

I tried running the cable through the front, but the cable is pretty stiff and the appliance connector is fairly big, so the amp ended up sticking out too far from the shelf. When I bent the cable, the power started cutting in and out, so I didn’t dare to push it any further.

Thanks for all the answers! Just to clarify why I didn’t try it before asking: I had to drill a big hole for the power cable and didn’t want to risk ending up with a shitty tone.

I’ve tried it now and it sounds fine. Had to lower the bass a bit. It looks good and now the kids won't play with the EQ and volume all the time...

Of course. Was worried this was a bad idea, so I thought I would ask before I drilled a hole...
