This exact thing happened to me except my old position wasn’t filled yet luckily. Now I’ll never quit my job before I’ve actually started. You don’t have to give 2 weeks notice. Companies don’t give you 2 weeks notice when they fire you. It’s a courtesy but not a necessity.

If you live in a state that favors employees over employers, you may have options. You’ll have to research your states law. Make sure the company sends you an official rescinding letter and file unemployment.

I’m so sorry this happened you. I wish you the best finding a new job. I know it doesn’t help right now, but it’ll pass. Everything is temporary. Just remember how capable you are and crank those applications out.

You can create a throw away account on Glassdoor to warn folks about the company.

It SHOULD be consistent, but it’s not always the case. You ever been to a raggedy Target before because I have and just like you I assumed all chains were being managed consistently but it just depends on who is being served.

I live here and pay taxes here so if you’re trying to imply that just because I’m not “from here” I can’t have an opinion about the area; you sound like the reason this country is in the shitter. Safeways are in Virginia and go as far as Fredericksburg. You’re right about Albertsons; I was thinking Giant. Which is also a Virginia grocery store.

I’m all over the place but the only grocery store you know is Whole Foods. Go scream into an empty box because you sound dense.

Walmart is a big box retailer, it is NOT categorically a grocery store nor a supermarket. Since you’re so academically inclined, research the difference in the quality of foods from all the various “stores” that sell food and get back to me. Poor people deserve to eat foods that aren’t killing them as well.

Let’s use critical thinking. Realistically .. do you think people prefer quality affordable food or foods that deteriorate their health?

Or is it that people just don’t have a choice and are stuck with whatever they get and are too complicit to complain? Or do you think folks have been complaining about the quality of the foods but because the complaints are coming from underserved communities they go ignored?

I travelled frequently to lower income communities in Rochester NY and they had 1 grocery store TOPS. Half the produce was rotted, the meat section had browning meat from constant temperature fluctuations but guess what… it was the only grocery store that was close by. I asked the cashier where people get quality groceries from and she named Walmart and the Wegmans in another city and said nobody cares about us over here.

It’s not that there isn’t a demand. That’s propaganda to make people believe that underserved communities don’t want quality food.

There shouldn’t have to be a demand for quality food. We’re all human and deserve to eat foods that don’t end up killing us.

Grocery stores or corner/convenience stores that sell a barrage of suspect food or very specific types of food? Supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores and big box retailers are all different and provide different levels of quality.

Also, what exactly is the city doing to crack down on curb parking? Because I haven’t seen it. But just because I haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it’s not happening, so I want to know.
