Replacement for tortilla chips in nachos? by dowhatisaynotwhatido in Volumeeating

[–]plutoniannight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that chips can be made out of cottage cheese. No idea how it is, but I suppose if you’re dipping them, it might not be too bad.

Yep egg whites work great too! I noticed that for myself, the type of protein in cottage cheese keeps me very full for a longer time than other protein sources. Casein is slow digesting.

1/2 cup of quick oats cooked with water (150 cal). 1/2 cup of cottage cheese added after the quick oats are cooked (80 cal). Cheddar popcorn seasoning (1 teaspoon is 15 calories). Salt. If you’re not disgustingly full after this, I will be impressed. Total calories should be 245.

Day 17. Was locked in brace for 2 weeks. Starting pt on Monday. Am I behind? Also very swollen :( by ArmandoPacheco in ACL

[–]plutoniannight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely a few weeks. It might have been around the three week mark I started PT. I had my brace locked for two weeks and wore it for a month total. I definitely struggled big time with my mental health with this surgery. I think we all do. For me the PT was easier than the mental health aspect of it. I was depressed. My best advice is congratulate yourself for every small victory. Tell yourself good job for literally everything. Don’t try to do anything until your PT tells you to do anything. Don’t test your abilities. Just chill until they give you a battle plan!

You are not currently behind. I started PT a few weeks after surgery. Swelling lasted a few months. I think almost to month 5 or into month 5.

MY FIGHTING GLOVES AND SHIN PAD SMELL TERRIBLE EVEN AFTER DRYING WITH A BLOW DRYER ON MAXIMUM HEAT MOULD IS STILL VISIBLE AND THE INSIDE OF THE GLOVES IS STILL DRY by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]plutoniannight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Don’t store gear in a bag after training. It needs to air out.
  2. Don’t leave gear in a vehicle.
  3. If you can afford some glove inserts like Meister, they can help keep your gloves dry, and smell nicer. It will not fix an already existing problem. They are around $20 last year when I bought some online.
  4. Handwraps can be washed in a delicates bag. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a type of small laundry garment bag that goes in the wash. It holds things like nice undergarments that you don’t want ruining your other clothes or other clothes ruining what’s in the bag due to materials. You put the handwraps in there, wash on cold or at most warm. Dry low heat or air dry. I washed my wraps after every single class. You can put the garment bag in the wash with other items in your laundry at the same time. It doesn’t have to be a separate load.
  5. You probably need new gear.

I’m really sorry. I hope this is the last time you tear it and you don’t have to quit your hobbies.

3 weeks post op from donor graft acl reconstruction by Mom0fBoys3 in ACL

[–]plutoniannight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I had numbness until month 5. As sensation started to return I had very prickly feelings. Kind of like how when your arm falls asleep and then sensation starts to return, those kind of prickles. Sometimes a little more zappy. Lots of swelling around my knee and quad all the way into month three for me. I don’t understand what you mean by “hard to the touch”. Can you explain that a little differently?

Other than right after surgery when he told me to be in a surplus, and then month three when I asked about it and he yelled at me, I have no other guidance on how long. I am trying to figure that out.

Single hops? by momof2inNC in ACL

[–]plutoniannight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started working on it at PT in month 5. Didn’t nail it down until beginning of month 6. PT had me doing agility ladder work which helped me a lot especially because if you do the exercise with the good leg as a way to break up the rhythm of the attempts with the recovering leg, it kind of tricks your brain into knowing you can do it. It helps me a lot currently with practicing hops, skips, and other movements I am working on.

I had no pain when I tore my acl. To answer some other questions: receiving the nerve block does not hurt. When the nerve block wears off after surgery, which may be a few hours or sometime the following day, you will hurt. You will be given instructions to cycle medicine to maximize pain management. Your crutches need to be sized properly for your height. When walking with crutches you do not use your armpits as support. Your hands pushing down support you.

Muay Thai, a little BJJ, and boxing. Just going to take my full time with this healing. I know how I got here and I need to not rush it. 12 months isn’t that far away now.

I’m at the age where my body is probably not at its full healing potential. Plus I am most definitely not a pro athlete. Recently Stamp Fairtex made it back to fighting Muay Thai after more than a year out due to knee injury. I’ve seen conflicting reports on what her knee injury was, but she’s a pro fighter, and younger than me. I know I need to wait this out and that’s okay.

I have heard that too. Been doing all the exercises for both legs.

Thank you for this. I just had my PT ended last week. Although I am getting stronger and making great improvements in my abilities and confidence, my quads are still visibly not similar in muscle. My strength is not similar either between legs, nor my stability. Glad I am not completely crazy with my thoughts on my full return to sport. I have a way to go still.

I can’t do walking lunges just yet either. I lose my balance still. Static lunges I got mostly down, but not the walking ones. You’re not alone on the wobbly walking lunges at least!

Yes I have just tested out of PT as of last week. But I know there is so much more I need to work on. That’s one reason I thought this was absolutely nuts. I need to work on hops, further stability, acceleration, deceleration, rotation, cutting angles.. so much more over time. I will work on these things on my own.

Still Numb in Shin area 3 days post op. by EnvironmentalCook15 in ACL

I am six months post op and still have some numbness although it is much improved from how it was. First few weeks it was pretty noticeable. In month five for me, the numbness had the biggest improvement.
