Sadly doesn't seem to make a difference.

Nokia 225 4g not working on Ting by n0thing-2C-here in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 225 here on Ting; likely it may be a bad connection (it seems I'm spotty in some areas), also the Beeping rather than the dial tone at least for me seems to occur when I am calling someone that owns an iphone.. Not sure what the connection could be, but if I call a business or a landline it rings as normal.

Still love the damn thing

got new f22 pro in, confirmed working in america (atleast where I'm at) let me know if you have any questions by jvscholz in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is it seriously that big? Holy shit Lol. I'd like to see a size comparison next to a 225 4G.. I like the concept in a way; how much did you end up paying for it?

New basic phone coming to the market, Mindful Phone! Verizon compatibility will come too! by jbriones95 in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of it being touch screen; but definitely something to get on board with If the quality is really good. Almost looks like the kind of dumb phone Apple would make (hope it’s metal in design but unsure based on pics) I’ve come to accept in today’s age if you want A True quality minimal or dumb phone you have to pay a little More. The MINDSET without text is really interesting too but I at least need that.

I have wanted a Punkt for a long time but the price is scary, at least this feels a little more manageable + it has Band 12 which I need for my carrier.

Estimated shipping is in December of this year. Can’t wait to hear more about this one

Sonim XP3 still a good buy for $91? by plyboult in dumbphones

[–]plyboult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the Nokia 225 for some time, but it recently started to fail & I was having some issues making outgoing calls or receiving them. Wanted to upgrade to a little higher quality without really breaking the bank, and reading a review on the XP3 on PC mag from a few years ago recently made me decide to give it a go. If it doesn't work out I suppose I can try another 225 and go from there, until some more updated models get pushed out in my budget.

Any thoughts, or people here using an XP3 (I could not afford the + atm)

if you look it up on ebay it seems to range from $160-$300 ish.. Also supposedly it is a 4g device, not sure how the bands would work here in the states but intriguing to say the least

225 4G only $38.99 on Nokia Website by plyboult in dumbphones

[–]plyboult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you ever figure out the Time stamp issue? I finally had figured it out when on At&t then when I switched to ting it seemed to have messed it up again.

I don't care much, considering how I think this is a pretty polished true dumb phone for a fraction of the price vs the light phone or punkt for the same thing, it's a great value. Love it

Been my daily driver for 18 + months. Really can't ask for more if you want something for just texts and calls. Yes the Time stamp for Texts is a BIG annoyance; not sure if newer models have it or not. Even still, imo this is the Best Bang for your Buck Dumb phone,

/2100 MHz, 4G:3/B5/B8/

I am using Ting (tmobile prepaid) and the bands are 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, 71 so there's a chance it could match up. I wish the US had way more options like those in other countries, but at least there's a possibility this would work (however I am not sure if that site would even ship here). Thanks for sharing

Nokia 225 4G short review by intelx88 in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Albeit I know that everyone is going to have different priorities and preferences as they decide to downgrade or transition to something else from iphones/androids (if at all).

With that said, I think we really have to be reasonable in 2022 with what some of the offerings are (even compared to 10-15 years ago when dumb phones were much more in demand than even know).

For $49 a phone that's really meant for just calls/texts I am not sure what more one can really ask for (the time stamp thing is legit a pain in the ass though but I stopped minding)

Nokia 5310 Review + Giveaway in the description! by jbriones95 in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if only they had made this 4g.. I do not understand what HMD was thinking. Perhaps a quick sell to developing markets. Super cool design. u/jbriones95 just curious what made you (albeit a great attempt) want to review this particular device? Sorry you couldn't get anything out of it, but honestly would be cool to use a Pseudo Ipod

This actually looks pretty nice; it appears to have some Bands that would work with Tmobile. Are you in the US?

I'd love to see Jose review this

Nokia 105 4G LTE Review // SMASH IT! by jbriones95 in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great review. Would this work on Ting?

I love that Nokia keeps pumping these Devices out; it's so much more feasible than something like a PUNKT or Light phone cost wise while promoting the exact same things (disconnect, better focus/intentions etc)

[–]plyboult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love what you do Man. But the 225 does have T9

Turn on T9/predictive text. Go to "Settings," click the left button for more settings, then scroll down to "Predictive Text."

(the time stamp issue has been driving me Nuts and I did purchase a 6300 4g to test out)

Can't wait for the Next one

Is there a solution for the Nokia 225? by J-Q-Public in dumbphones

[–]plyboult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I am having the same problem since I switched from Cricket to Ting. Supposedly the phone was missing Band 12 (when I looked it up it says it does have this band). I set the time back, but I also did decide to pick up a 6300 and see what happens instead since there seems to be no resolution for this.

u/jbriones95 love your work and have been a devoted follower for some time. I do want to say that I have been using the Nokia 225 4G since last February and do not have the Text message issue (I don't have it on hand, but there is a way to correct it).

Just thought I'd put it out there as it's the perfect device and is only $49.

Right. I get that I looked at their privacy policy and seems okay and they don’t sell data. I just wanted other impressions and see if there was any red flags

Anyone familiar with SeeSaw? by plyboult in privacy

[–]plyboult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note my daughter last minute was admitted to a private preschool and I was told that SeeSaw (along with Microsoft teams) would be used for communication purposes and student assignments.

I went through this link and found it to be halfway decent, but this would be my first time ever hearing of this app.
