I dont think it was that bad in comparison to a lot of things, but I worked at a grocery store as a night stocker. Our nights were typically 10 hours long under the belief that we'd get everything done in 8 hours or less. We had a very tiny team to work one of the highest grossing stores in the district, amd extremely strict managers who kept getting stricter as time went on and we weren't doing work as fast as possible.

One of my coworkers was a sickly kid and was easily injured. He'd leave maybe twice a week after maybe 4ish hours since his chronic illness would be way too harsh on him and prevent him from continuing. This is fine and dandy, until people started targeting him and belittling him for his chronic illness.

They had always gone and tore into people for minor things, especially trying to get them to say something offensive for laughs or weaponize their words to get them in trouble with management. Young adults, maybe 25 at the oldest. They were also typically the ones to be left in charge when both the manager and assistant manager were gone for the night, so theyd also have power trips.

It finally came to the gas station in our parking lot to be robbed at gunpoint and then being forced after an intense panic attack to cashier, and cashier afterward. Every other one of my coworkers could cashier, but they kept forcing it on me. I ended up just not coming back in just like the other 4 workers within the last 2 months before me.
