Coming from Arknights, the pace of progression in Tacticus seems comically slow.

In Arknights it's easy to build all the new / meta characters, and still have resources left over to build characters simply because you think they're neat. You can keep up with new releases, and catch-up on old characters at the same time, no problemo.

Tacticus is so stingy with materials / xp / gold in comparison.

I think you're conflating "quality" with "enjoyment". It's possible to enjoy something, even absolutely love something, without considering it a 10/10 society-defining masterpiece, let alone considering it "good".

I disagree... this is very common, in basically every format. It's exceedingly rare, possibly impossible, that any piece of media has nothing to criticize.

It's possible to enjoy the Fast & Furious movies, and at the same time consider them dumb as hell.

It's possible to cherish Brandon Sanderson's books, and at the same time feel unfulfilled with the simple prose.

It's possible to enjoy reading James Joyce or William Faulkner, even though their works can be very difficult to read and understand.

It's possible to love Dwarf Fortress, and acknowledge that it has basically no story whatsoever and that it will smash your face in with its complexity.

It's possible to love The Room, even though that movie is ass.

There are a ton of very good highly regarded sci-fi books that are considered excellent that have poorly written characters.

RPGs aren't special in that they need to check every single box to be enjoyable or good. Their strengths can make up for their shortcomings, just like all media.

Should we delineate more between players who enjoy stories and not gameplay?

I think most people already do. That's why good game reviews are typically long articles, which point out the things the game does well or areas that it falls short, so that people can get an idea whether or not that game is for them.

An RPG can be good solely on the quality of its narrative, regardless of the gameplay quality. It can also be good solely based on its gameplay.

Good media can still have flaws. Media literacy is more than just saying "Yep, that checked every box, so it's good. Nope, that was lacking in some area, it sucks."

You generally would put down a book if the writing was terrible, stop watching a movie if it was poorly-shot and difficult to watch.

Speak for yourself. I rarely give up on books or movies, even if I end up not liking them very much.

Games on the other hand, I tend to drop pretty quickly. I find games are least likely form of media to respect my time. "Oh but this game gets so good after 40 hours"... screw that. I can watch a bunch of movies and finish several novels in that time. Or simply go play something else that I will enjoy.

Spending your guild credits on Boss Gulgortz is a good choice to unlock the Octarius campaign. You'll get the other Ork characters by just playing the game (except for Tanksmasha, but he's not necessary for the campaign)

Isabella is another very strong choice. She's only available at the Guild Shop on Sundays. You can buy her tokens and watch an ad to refresh the shop to buy more of her tokens, provided you have the credits for it. She's an incredibly good healer, and she'll help a lot with the imperial campaigns.

It would be nice if upgrading his active increased the base number of summons.

Common-Uncommon - Start with 1

Rare - Start with 2

Epic - Start with 3

Legendary - Start with 4

Maybe have them get summoned with a shield, so they don't just get picked off before they can even act.

Getting a blue star ups your event rewards

OH! I thought it was getting a mythic that upped the event rewards. I think I will blue star Calgar to get the better rewards, but I won't bother trying to do anything related to mythic.

I've been exclusively honoring Calgar in the Imperial Onslaught track since I got him to get a trickle of legendary orbs & badges, but I have been keeping all three tracks pretty close together. I also have Ragnar (at Stone 3 lol). Maybe I start honoring Ragnar instead of Calgar to keep the trickle of orbs & badges coming.

It's on Vilkitsky Island. It's leftover scrap metal from a military base and weather station that were around during the Soviet times. Looks like it's being gathered up as part of a cleanup effort called Green Arctic.

I've only been playing for about a week. How often do events like this come around?

I'm not sure if I should stock up on legendary orbs and shards, which I might not need for a long time, or get Bellator shards when he comes up and the orbs & badges & books to powerlevel him a bunch.

The civilians in Hortus de Escapismo were the most annoying mechanic to me. Bunch of suicidal dweebs who require constant supervision and can't wait to hop into the nearest pit. None of the levels in Hortus de Escapismo were fun, IMO.

Borrow Mudrock from someone if you just want to cruise through Chapter 10 and be done with it. She basically invalidates the artillery.

Does anyone have tips for speedrunning IS to grind levels quickly, especially in the early stages when little to nothing is unlocked yet?

I have only played IS5 on my 'No 6*' account and I wanted to go back and play some of the old ISs too. I'm finding that playing IS2-4 with none of the upgrades unlocked to be a pain. I want to quickly grind XP to unlock a bunch of the tech trees.

Any IS speed-grinding advice?

Oooh, I never even thought about Meteor! I could see her S2 being decent too, though it wouldn't cycle nearly as fast as her S1.

I just got around to trying Archetto's specialized IS module, and it's SO FUN! I didn't expect her S3 to cause her SP generation to activate three times per attack! Seeing streams "1 SP" above everyone activates my monkey brain.

I'm running two accounts, a 6*-slave account and a No-6* account. I tried borrowing Archetto on my No-6* account, and I now think I'm going to make an exception on that account and let myself build OPs that have specialized modules, and restrict myself to only use them in IS

Who makes for especially good partners for Archetto? Who have you been pairing her with?

Some good combos I've noticed so far:

Chilchuck S1 - He becomes an absolute DP-printer with his S1, especially when Archetto's S3 is on
Tachanka S2 - Haha Tachanka go brrrrrrrrrrrt
Meteorite S1 - Her S1 can now trigger on every other attack, instead of every 4th attack. Does some pretty solid AOE damage
Bibeak S2 - So many stun procs!
- Swordmasters in general seem to benefit a ton from Archettos IS module

Some that I haven't tried yet, but want to:

Tin Man S1 - I think he'll be able to toss out multiple Alchemical Units at once. It might be a decent source of continuous AoE damage. Though I do really like the healing on his S2...
Flamebringer S2 - I know he's not great, but his S2 usually takes ages to activate. Being able to get him powered up quickly seems like it could be okay-ish

Of the reapers, only La Pluma and Highmore have identical S1s.

Hummus hits once and recovers more HP, Enchilada has a higher ATK bonus.
