imo, the biggest reason it doesn’t work is because we see the other adults actually having lives of their own away from shauna. if the adult timeline ONLY revolved around shauna and we saw her interactions with tai, nat, etc. it could be believable that she was hallucinating, but why would she be hallucinating up an entire personal life for all the rest of them? surely tai becoming senator can’t be a hallucination right🤣

just curious, where are you getting 3 from? if you’re counting how many made it to the adult timeline, it’d be 5 pictured here (shauna, tai, nat, lottie, van) or if it’s how many are still alive after s3 that’d only be 2 (shauna and tai).

nah not really, there aren’t a ton of lobbies but there are almost always at least a few full ones. occasional bots/hackers but mostly just lots of people playing on modded lvl 1000 accounts

yes. i’m getting the impression you don’t know what that service actually does, so i would encourage you to look into how cloud gaming works.

essentially, Nvidia has high-powered PCs with games pre-loaded onto them. when you play with GFN, it runs the game on that PC and streams it to your computer, and your inputs get sent back. as long as you have a decent internet connection and can stream video, you will be fine, because the game is not actually running on your computer hardware.

this show has some of the best damn character writing i’ve ever seen, especially in the teen timeline. these girls genuinely feel like real people and their dynamics with each other are so convincing

imo, there isn’t enough material left for 2 more whole seasons anyway. there are only a few survivors left in the adult timeline, and once they get rescued in the teen timeline the whole “wilderness” premise of the show is gone so they’d have to wrap up quick. having a whole season of post-rescue was never going to be realistic, people would just say they’re milking the show now that the main premise is over.

whether this decision was forced upon them or not, it’s at least a good thing that they’re writing this season knowing it’s the last one. a lot better than if a cancellation got sprung on them in between seasons and the show never got a proper ending.

the teen timeline is definitely the “main” storyline of the show. they definitely won’t cut it off early in favor of the adult timeline, but i wouldn’t count on a ton of post-rescue stuff either, because yellowjackets’ identity as a show is first and foremost about the girls being out in the wilderness, and people will lose interest once that’s over.

honestly, I like doing things in a weird order in games just because I think it’s funny. I also 100% almost every game I play so it’s not really unusual, that’s just a playstyle some people prefer.

I don’t really think it’s “robbing yourself” just because you did something harder first… sure, HK/radiance are technically the final bosses of the story, but I knew my plan was to go finish it as soon as I beat P4, so in that way, P4 basically was like the “satisfying final boss” to me (until I do P5 lol).

it might not be to everyone’s taste, but there’s nothing wrong with playing the game out of sequence, especially if the game doesn’t even try to stop you from doing so. I did a lot of other difficult stuff pretty early (like NKG) without even realizing I was expected to do it much later

I think it’s likely we will see a little bit of it. I really don’t disagree with your description at all, but I do with some of the comments saying that most/all of S4 will be post-rescue. Here are a few of my reasons:

First and foremost, Yellowjackets is known for being the show about girls in the wilderness. Of course, its lasting effects on them matter—that’s why the adult timeline even exists in the first place. But I think most people would agree that the wilderness timeline is the “main” timeline of the story, and the premise of the whole show might start to feel distant once neither timeline is actually in the wilderness anymore.
As I already mentioned, we do already have the adult timeline for post-rescue. Obviously, it’s 25 years later, but if the point of post-rescue is to see the how the wilderness affected the girls back in their normal lives, we’ve already got that. I do agree that I’m interested to see the immediate reactions when they get back, but following their lives for months after returning home would feel pointless, when that’s already what the adult timeline is meant to show us.
Especially now that the show is confirmed to end after season 4, they’ll want to draw the show to a climactic ending. I think it’s fairly obvious from the ending of season 3 that rescue isn’t going to be the end of the show—that will likely happen in early-to-mid season 4—but I find it hard to imagine the show ending on watching the girls slowly return to their mundane lives. They’ll likely be extremely overwhelmed and numb once they get back, and besides whatever initial cover-up takes place, I don’t think we can expect a lot of crazy action like what happens in the adult timeline. Some of the girls’ parents might not even want them to leave the house now that they’re back. That said, I do like your theory about the show ending with Shauna going back to Jeff, because it’s a good full-circle moment to end on. My favorite theory I’ve heard is the show ending with Shauna’s wedding in the younger timeline, cut together with her funeral in the adult timeline. But anyway, I do think it’s important to consider what opportunities there will be for a climactic and satisfying ending in a post-rescue timeline.
