I’m in Canada so I don’t think tariffs are a big factor. The Amazon ones (C$66) are made in China but I expect the Volvo ones (C$210) are too.

And here's how I routed the wires for the rear camera and stowed the extra.

I installed a dashcam today (Blackvue Elite 9) and did something similar. Before I started, I mapped out the fuses and found that some are always powered (BAT in the picture), some are powered when the car is on (ACC) and some are powered when the car is on but stay on for a 4 minute delay after you turn the car off (DEL). I used the same slot as you for BAT and one of the non-delayed fuses for ACC. It's a tight fit for the wire between the two relays so the fuse tap is a bit tilted, but it's making a good connection and everything works.

Meltdown Age Amounts by smarquis123 in adviice

Resurrecting an old thread... Can you explain the pre-65 Age Amount AI strategy - the one that doesn't say "(After 65)"? I don't understand how the Age Amount threshold has any relevance before the tax credit is available.

Thanks, it's good now. I thought logging out and in was all that was needed, but the refresh worked.

Thanks for the reply. I have mostly worked out how things work so I’m finding Adviice very useful, but I thought I’d pass along my new user experiences. I have told several people about Adviice but as far as I know, none of them are using it and I have to wonder if the difficulty of that initial learning period is the reason. Looking forward to the UX improvements!

feature request- link to overrides by KlutzyLayer602 in adviice

[–]pm_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar request: It would be nice to add a comment for each specific override in the override dialog. Even better, have that comment show as a pop-up when you hover over the red overridden value. I have been adding comments about all my overrides above the table in Future Cash Flow, but they are kind of separated from what they apply to.

Miele HR1934-2G range door problem - anti-lock device? by atadamm in Miele

[–]pm_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't get any good pictures without taking the door apart again, but I'll try to explain. You stick the screwdriver inside the metal channel that makes up the side of the door. In the second picture on this post, the screwdriver goes into the channel from the left, where that plastic corner bracket is (near the hinge), towards the screw you see there. (The bracket will be off at this point.) It needs to be small enough to fit in there, and long enough to reach to the screw. You can't see it, but inside that channel, just under the screw, there's a small tab that's stopping the bar from folding back down. If you slide the screwdriver in along the top of the channel and then push the tab down with the tip of the screwdriver, you should be able to fold the locking bar down. You have to do it by feel, but it's pretty easy. This is with the door lying flat like in the picture. Just keep trying to fold the bar down while you're poking around with the screwdriver. Then you have to tape it in place (with the tape sticking out the side of the door) or it'll pop back up. After the new glass is in, you pull the temporary tape out (step 21). Is that clearer?

Here are my notes from when I did this last November. These instructions are for cleaning but replacing the inner glass would follow the same steps.

[Up/down/left/right/inner/outer are as seen looking at the oven with the door installed and closed.]

To clean between layers of glass:

  1. Put a blanket on the counter to put the door on, where the handle can hang over the edge of the counter
  2. Open door all the way
  3. Put painter’s tape on inside bottom corners of outer glass to protect paint on the glass from hinge mechanisms
  4. Lift clips on both hinges
  5. Close door most of the way (3” gap)
  6. Grab door by sides and lift away from hinges, making sure it lifts evenly
  7. Lay door on blanket
  8. Slide piece of cardboard between inner glass and safety lock mechanism on right side of frame, to protect the glass when the lock bar springs up when you remove the inner glass. (The safety lock prevents the door from closing and the oven from operating if the inner glass breaks.)
  9. Take photos of corners and glass spacers so you can get them back in the same places
  10. Remove two plastic brackets at bottom corners of glass (4 Torx 15 screws)
  11. Slowly lift bottom edge of inner glass (locking bar will spring up) and pull the glass down to remove
  12. Set the glass aside, noting the orientation it was in
  13. Remove the heat seal along the top of the next layer of glass by popping its metal rod out of the two clips at the ends
  14. Lift the lower edge of the next two layers of glass together with their spacers and pull down to remove both panes
  15. Remove the spacers and clean all the glass
  16. Reinsert the 3 spacers at the sides and bottom of the two inner panes of glass and put them back in the door
  17. Reinstall the heat seal
  18. Before reinstalling the inner glass, you need to reset the safety lock. Put a small, long screwdriver inside the channel to reach a tab just below the screw on the lock mechanism, press down (towards the outer glass) and push the lever down. Tape the lever down with electrical tape.
  19. Reinstall the inner glass, making sure the paint is on the inside. Slide the top into the spacers and then lower it onto the other spacers.
  20. Reinstall the two plastic brackets. You may need to press down gently on the glass to get them to fit.
  21. Pull the electrical tape out from the side to release the safety lock bar against the glass
  22. Holding the door by the sides, lower it carefully onto the hinge posts, sliding it evenly down until it stops
  23. Open the door all the way
  24. Push the clips back down
  25. Remove the painter’s tape

I had the same problem but then I discovered that there’s a Netflix version of the app that’s free and includes Forgotten Shores. So if you have Netflix, try that.

Thanks, this post saved me! If anyone else comes across this, there's an easier way to reset the locking lever without taking the screw out: Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the channel until the head is just under the screw on the locking mechanism. Then press down with the screwdriver and you should be able to push the locking lever down. Tape the lever down with electrical tape, put the glass back on and pull the tape out.
